Hi! I don't have question about the shawl, but your profession/work. How do you get to the point of being knitwork designer? I have started really think on "what I want to be when I grow up" work wise and I'm really truely someone who lives for things like this, lately I have started spinning yarn myself.. but what you need to study to get to be knitwork designer?
@@josspa6558 There really aren't any requirements - if you feel ready you just start doing it! But I have just finished a course that covers everything you really need to know (which is nice since there is a lot to learn!). Here's the link: tkga.org/knitwear-designer-certification/
Hi. Today I have discovered your resource library. I’m more of a crocheter but do knit but only been knitting about 3 years mostly self taught. I have downloaded several of your shawl shapes and really love all your helpful tips patterns and tutorials ❤️
How have I not watched you? Lol. Thankyou for the resources and great video. Great way to make tweaks to shawls for gifts, so everyone gets a unique one! Thankyou, I definitely subbed too!
Great video. I really appreciate your instructions. I'm beginning to practice knitting this shawl. I have a pattern, but your instructions make more sense. I wonder if you could please make a video with instructions of how to knit a Shetland shawl with a simple to pattern to follow. I have trouble knitting lace. A Shetland is a big square shawl. Thank you so much. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a blessed New year, love and happiness.
Thanks for the video! Just what I needed! One question though: what would happen if you switched from increasing 4 on the right side to increasing 4 on both sides on the same shawl? 😅
You could change the rate of increase - perhaps work fewer increases along the center spine. Or, it might be easier to knit it bottom to top with all the increases at the edges - which makes a longer wingspan but a not-so-deep triangle. I think I am having a brain fog right now but I have a question. If I'm picking up a room from a already knitting square, then I don't have to do the setup row starting with the three stitches, correct?
I'm not really sure what you mean - but the set-up row establishes the increases and gets markers in place to keep on-track while knitting. It can be skipped, depending on what you're doing. Swatch and test it out.
You could change how often you increase - instead of increasing on every RS row, you could try increasing along the center spine on every OTHER RS row (so every 4th row) - that should make a shallower triangle while still getting the wingspan from the increases worked at the edges.

@@NerdyKnitting thanks! 🙂
you saved me! I have been frozen, and not have begun a shawl, of which I've had all the supplies for 3 years. THANKS!
I'm so glad I could help!
I didn’t understand the pattern instructions for my shawl. This video did a great job of clarifying 👍🏼
Glad it was helpful!

I'm planning to cover rectangular shawls in the New Year so I'll add a Shetland shawl to the list too!
Thank you,!!!
Thanks again🌷Merry Christmas 🎄
You're welcome! Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 to you!
Thanks for the video! Just what I needed! One question though: what would happen if you switched from increasing 4 on the right side to increasing 4 on both sides on the same shawl? 😅
It would grow much faster!
Great information.
Is it possible to have the rent shawl without the triangle long at the back, like a straight line at the back. Thank you.

Do you have a written pattern for your heart shaped shawl for purchase? That sample you have is very beautiful!
No, there's no pattern - I just used the instructions for the shawl 'recipe' and had a bit of fun with the sample.
I think I am having a brain fog right now but I have a question. If I'm picking up a room from a already knitting square, then I don't have to do the setup row starting with the three stitches, correct?

Do you have a formula for a wider more shallow shawl?
You could change how often you increase - instead of increasing on every RS row, you could try increasing along the center spine on every OTHER RS row (so every 4th row) - that should make a shallower triangle while still getting the wingspan from the increases worked at the edges.
Thank you thank you thank you!!!!
How can I make this one bigger
Just keep working the two rows until it's as big as you want.
Thank you...new subscriber!!
Merci
