The only "copter" episode where Dan sits in the middle. He usually squeezes into the passenger side, with his foot on the runner, as he fumbles desperately with his seatbelt...while barking out orders.

*"It isn't what you drive, but it's how you drive that counts."* That message from Broderick Crawford still rings true for motorists in today's modern era, not only in California but across America too.

You're right but considering he couldn't keep his driver's license because of multiple drunk driving convictions it's kind of funny.
On many episodes you will see him driving on dirt roads rather than town roads or in a helicopter. Otherwise someone else is driving him or he only gets in to use the radio to call HQ

Dan’s .38 S+W Model 10 with the two inch barrel has a maximum effective range of 25 feet. But Dan can adjust for wind age and elevation effectively. He can also reload with blinding speed.
When I was a kid watching this show in the 50’s I thought he was the greatest, he still is.

Try effective range of 25-50 yards. Back then, most police agencies qualified/shot all the way out to 50 yards. Today, they have dumbed it down to 15 yards at most departments.

In 1965 Vietnam seemed like just another foreign war, but it wasn't
It was different in many ways, as so were those that did the fighting
In World War II the average age of the combat soldier was twenty-six
      In Vietnam he was nineteen
In inininininin Vietnam he was nineteen
In inininininin Vietnam, he was nineteen
      In Vietnam, he was nineteen
      N-n-n-n-nineteen

I really wasn't sure what was going on
      N-n-n-n-nineteen, nineteen
      N-nineteen, nineteen
In Vietnam the combat soldier typically served a twelve-month tour of duty
But was exposed to hostile fire almost every day
      N-n-n-n-nineteen
      (N-n-n-n-nineteen) nineteen
In Saigon a US military spokesman said today
More than seven hundred enemy troops were killed last week
      In that sensitive border area
      In all of South Vietnam
The enemy lost a total of two thousand six hundred eighty-nine soldiers
All those who remember the war
They won't forget what they've seen
Destruction of men in their prime
      Whose average age was nineteen
      D-d-d-d-d-destruction
      D-d-d-d-d-destruction
According to a Veteran's Administration study
Half of the Vietnam combat veterans suffered From what psychiatrists call
      Post-traumatic stress disorder
Many vets complain of alienation, rage, or guilt
      Some succumb to suicidal thoughts
Eight to ten years after coming home
      Almost eight-hundred-thousand men
Are still fighting the Vietnam War
None of them received a hero's welcome
      Nineteen
      S-S-S-S-Saigon
      Nineteen, n-n-n-n-n-ninteen
      N-n-n-n-n-ninteen

The blade may be 12 ft high but they can tilt in any direction. When I was a kid, I was watching the news for some unknown reason. There was an accident in Spain where troops were getting off a helo and the blades dipped and decapitated a guy and they showed it. That's why it's a good idea to stay low.
It's also a good idea to remove your hat. It's not a big deal with the Bell-47s used in this show because they don't have turbine engines like most copters do today. A jet turbine engine can suck a hat right off your head and tear up an engine.

That is why we have more people in prison per capita then any other country, our Judges are leaving them out daily.
I am being sarcastic, that criminals get out after a short time in jail is just not true. It is a common belief, but our prisons are budging with prisoners given long sentences for what, even the Russians and Chinese, just fine. We have so many prisoners serving very long sentences that even DAs are asking the state legislatures to cut down these sentences.
