    So after hearing about the Ricky Oyola EMB story on the recent Clyde Singleton nine club episode, I’d like to say I had no idea that dude was apparently known for being a huge pile of shit and still hasn’t owned up to what he did. I’m embarrassed to be skating his board in this video and I won’t be supporting him or Traffic any further.

      What about all the black hate against whites in this industry.
      Literally pro skaters quitting on tour and getting out of the van because of the way black skaters act , threaten, degeneracy.

      haven't seen the episode to know what you're talking about, but i can separate art from artist pretty easily in most cases. dudes a legend and rips, skating speaks for itself. i would never assume pro skaters to be good people, but it's cool when they are. he is a certified switch mongo hater.

    Just ordered a set of these in 54mm for my cruiser board, still do some flip tricks etc while I’m cruising around so these should be great but my street/park setup has 54mm spitfire radials (normal NOT full) 99a and I think you should definitely give normal radials a try I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. They lock in great never had slip out issues the tech stuff is great with them too they have some decent width but nothing crazy like the radial fulls. Best all around wheels in my opinion

    • @dadboard
      @dadboard  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I keep hearing about the radial standards I need a set! 97’s are great for a cruiser setup too. They still slide and pop fine (better than dragons and x97 imo) but they’re way easier for just rolling around especially on rough ground

    my primary setups have wheels close to that shape. i've never owned a set of spitfires that i can recall, nothing against them i just haven't needed to get wheels in a really long time. lately i've been grabbing completes for cheap off marketplace and they have what they have, it's a good way to try different stuff that you might not have otherwise. last one had indy forged hollows and bones stf v2 53mm wheels, basically tablet shape. not a fan of how they look like a shopping cart or that the axle nuts are completely exposed, but they ride fine. i usually like 56-60mm, lots of rough ground out here and they last forever.

      Do you run riser pads or just tighten your trucks up? I don’t think I can do either of those things but I’m not giving up on big wheels just yet, I think I want to try some classic shapes in a 56 just to see what it’s like.

    • @mrhogei
      @mrhogei หลายเดือนก่อน

      i use thunders titaniums, i want to try out 56mm or 58mm for street skating but i feel like i would need riser pads and i do not like riser pads at all, i usually rock 54 55mm.

    • @dudespikey
      @dudespikey หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mrhogei Nah, you should be good up to about 60-62mm. You just put a bit of wax under your wheels on your deck if you *do* get wheel-bite. Medium(tightness) trucks with 57mm wheels shouldn't even need that.

    • @mrhogei
      @mrhogei หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dudespikey copy that yeah the only reason why i want bigger wheels is mostly cause i can prob lock into krooks and other grinds alot easier and they will last way longer. i'm aiming for the bones x99 or x97 v5 sidecuts atm, using spitfire soft sliders reynolds classics now they are fucking amazing. i dont think i wil ever go back to a 99 or 101a wheel again. i would like to try 97a

    • @dudespikey
      @dudespikey หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mrhogei hell yeah go for it! I think once wheels get too hard they get grippy, the way trucks can't grind at all on concrete. I have this set called "Road Crew" and they must be like a 93**B** or something like that. They're about 50mm wide but a tiny seed makes you fall off your board. 92a-99a all seems to work well for me.

    I have ridden the radial full 56mm 99a for a year, have them on ace 60 with 1/8 risers. Haven’t had bad wheelbite with that setup, even riding loose trucks and being a big kid. I love the extra Width on them, makes rough spots easier to skate, also wear down slower due to having more material. Normally my wheels are 5-6 mm smaller after one year, but these are holding up better than what other f4 i have been riding. The wheels are ~53mm now, going to take off the risers on my next board and see how it works

    • @dadboard

    56 is my usual, with riser… ledges are almost impossible to lock into, the pop is actually better but I was skating in the 80’s with Theobold.. 97 won’t do you favors in long slides or wheel bite, the softer wheels will stop you dead, you need 99 at least… I sized up to rail and cross-over big parks like Burnside…

  • @weldskaterepeat7379
    @weldskaterepeat7379 ปีที่แล้ว

    You gotta skate fast transition or pump track with those! I got the 58s - waiting on the 9.08" Creature Sam Hitz Battlegate deck to come in the mail. The Battlegate gets the 58 radial fulls and ace AF1 77s (9.5")! I can't friggin wait!!!
    But yeah dude I have 8.75 aces on a 8.51 Creature Stumps deck - I set the radial fulls up on that and your grind space completely disappears lol totally changes the pinch point for crooks. I expect that to go away on 9.5 trucks wether I stick with the radial fulls or something slimmer. If you want to pinch, you gotta hang that truck out a bit more than you'd think. I'll let you know!

    • @dadboard
      @dadboard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aren’t stumps a shorter wheelbase than normal? I think with AF1’s you’d be on a super tiny wb, but yeah as far as the wide wheels they totally eat your trucks up. I love conical fulls but idk about the radial fulls unless you’re on an 8.75+ axle

    • @weldskaterepeat7379
      @weldskaterepeat7379 ปีที่แล้ว

      @dadboard exactly! Gotta go mega wide with these 747 wheels 😆 and yeah the stumps are all about smaller width decks wheelbase dimensions on stubby chubby wide boards. Mine flips like crazy. It's a rad shape, you should try one once you're done with the Real. I bet you'd like it. 8.51's are on a 14.25 and if I remember right, no Stumps deck has over 14.25 wheelbase. Even with such a tiny wheelbase and AF1s, at this width I feel super stable hauling ass. I ride medium loose. Charging the park on this chubster is beyond fun. At 41, this set up is prime time on 56mm dragons too. I'm excited to try the radial fulls on the Battlegate setup though. I want some slide but I want stability and max speed everywhere - good times ahead!

Dragons and bones wheels in general are a bit much for me but the 97s feel like a sweet spot. Wheel choice is massively dependent on the quality of ground you have at your disposal. Shit ground = big and soft. California = 101a and tiny.

    • @dadboard
      @dadboard  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not even comparing to the east coast/midwest/pnw because rain and snow do some _other_ shit to the ground over time, but we do have some crusty ground in nor cal. Probably not nearly enough to justify big soft wheels but I think a 101 is a little too hard unless you mainly skate at smooth parks. 99 is probably the best all around
