Sublime! I feel joy when I listen to this. Soul, feel, dynamics, emotion. To make a good living doing what you love and doing it so well is a key to happiness. I saw Jimmy many times in his Nighthawk days in MD and DC, but now he is a true creative virtuoso. To me the guitarists who took the instrument to a higher level are Roy Buchanan, Danny Gatton and Jeff Beck. Jimmy is right up there with them.
Jimmy is a freking great blues player , I've had the pleasure of doing a couple shows with him in Colorado ...and his surf guitar is awesome as well I'd love to see him with Clapton sometime at the Crossroads festival
I'm 58 years old and I was just introduced to this artist's music. Damn, Not sure how I missed out on most of his career but I can tell you it will be no longer. Jimmy Thackery is soooo good! Track after track. I need to see him live. Bucket list! Love this "hobart's blues"! MD boy too!
Simply A Masterpiece Dynamics are the Best I ever Heard. Playing 1,4,5 over and over sounding unique every lap for 6 Minutes. I bow at your Guitar Awesome
I've seen Jimmy live many times at Johnny D's in Somerville, MA. An amazing guitarist and showman. The lineup of the "Drivers" has changed over the years. I miss Mark Stutso on the drums- and Mark also has a great set of pipes. I saw the Nighthawks - Thackery's original Blues band at the Boston House of Blues, with another lead guitarist in the lineup. Check out the Nighthawks on an old live album, recorded New Years Eve, 1980 or 81, called "Ten years Live."
Great stuff! I get a good blues vibe listening to this, (of course), but I just mean, it makes me feel good. It feels authentic and honest. And the licks and changes are varied and different enough throughout the song to lend some intellectual interest, and keep my attention. Which is similar to the way I feel when listening to my favorite artists like Clapton, and Trower, and SRV. There is enough depth here to engage me!
Just as you have your hometown hero in Rocky, ours back here in MD is showing just why he is our local giant of the rockin blues we all love. Awesome clip Donnie , I never saw him use this axe but that old Flying V of his is definitely ingrained on us Marylanders ...
Cecil Almond Hi Cecil, Those were some great times back in the early 70s . I grew up in Rockville & remember all the great music going on , Nils & Grin, Crank & of course Jimmy & the Nighthawks. Saw all them many times & everyone was playing some fine rock & blues. Thanks.
I still try to see Thackery about once a year. About 10 - 15 years ago, a friend's wife had him and the drivers, play her husbands birthday party. I got to talk to him for about an hour prior to him playing. Always an unassuming guy, just one of the boys. Someone wrote to Vintage Guitar magazine and said he had ruined that guitar, I wrote in and said he'd made a lot of money playing that guitar and I'd take it over any original.
I used to see him many times at the old Manny's Car Wash in NYC. I think it was on 88th street. Saw him in Asbury Park in some dive bar in the late 90's or early 2000s.
@Slartibartfast70 great to hear! Youve got some catching up too do....So many albums.....One of my favorites is the LIVE "WILD NIGHT OUT" check it out. seen Jimmy few times live and met him ..great guy ..and a blues guitar legend.
There is something about a 3 piece outfit that is just the bomb. Clapton was the same in Cream. Dave Hole at his best with a trio. Some guys surround themselves with other museos but these dudes don't need it. I think he is the best going around.
@RandyDoddMusic he wouldnt ever do it. He has a giant disdain for the house of blues, cross roads etc., the so called "establishment" of blues. Although i agree, id love to see him play with those guys just so he could make them all look bad.
This tune proves Zombies do exist, these one sitting in a chair wearing a checked shirt, no or very, very little movement to this awesome tune, no toe tapping, bugger all head movement, I think he is dead or at least comatosed
One of the tastiest blues guitarists I have ever heard in my life - magnficent !!!
Clean and precise blues master guitar player.
Man, that is some good guitar work. Jimmy should be on the top guitarist lists!
Jimmy makes it look effortless. He plays that guitar like he's sipping a cup of coffee and reading the newspaper.
If you have never seen Jimmy live then you have missed out! He can play live for hours and he is fabulous!
Not long found out about Jimmy after watching him rip through Red House. This man can play!!! 🎸🥵
how can any one stand still listening to this? rock on jimmy!!!!

I just discovered Jimmy, I've got a new guitar hero.
Been listening since the Nighthawks! Early 80s...
Saw Jimmy and the original Nighthawks twice in Minneapolis at the legendary Union Bar in July and October, 1981.
Jimmy is a freking great blues player , I've had the pleasure of doing a couple shows with him in Colorado ...and his surf guitar is awesome as well
I'd love to see him with Clapton sometime at the Crossroads festival

The lick from 2:49 to 2:59 is so amazing. Thackery is the most underrated blues guitarist on earth

Thackery definitely should have made it big. The man's music is really something.

Nutella ist völlig geschmackfrei, einfach süße Pampe. Es gibt eine Vielzahl auch billigere Alternativen die besser sind.
Oh he would blow Clapton out of the water
charles manson on the bass
