- The Monticello Graveyard is located on the grounds of Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. Jefferson's grave is located here as well. Only descendants have access inside the gates as well as burial rights. As you'll see, there were descendants present during my visit.
Visited and filmed March 28, 2021
I film cemeteries, graveyards, church yards, nature, and other places I find interesting. Cemeteries are beautiful, peaceful places to reflect and I want to help preserve the the way they looked at a certain time. I contribute regularly to Find A Grave and I've been thanked numerous times by relatives and researchers for documenting places they may not be able to visit. I mean no disrespect and sometimes spend time tidying up places that don't necessarily receive it on a regular basis.

Rest in peace president Jefferson
So haunting. They died a long time ago but you feel like they're still there.
That's an interesting cemetery
Thank you for stopping by Naomi!
Interesting. I didn't know access to the cemetery was restricted in such a way. 👍
Sorry for the delay Stan - way too busy these days (and fingers crossed within a few weeks I'll be back to normal). It's unfortunate that you can't just get in, but apparently it's actually private property - on the grounds of Monticello but owned by the descendants. Perhaps I'll meet someone one day that'll let me in =)
that was a beautiful video thanks for sharing👍
Thank you Sandra! Much appreciated!
Were his slaves buried there too?
No, there is a separate burying ground on the property (that they're currently restoring). I have an old video (not great quality) of it and will make a new one once it's restored: th-cam.com/video/nljge-Jq7Fk/w-d-xo.html
In life they were separate ,so why would they not be separated in death.
Doesn't look very well maintained. Shabby
