This is a great one to visit. My grandmother told me I had to see this and that every American should. I made it a point to do so in her honor and I'm glad I listened to her. I really enjoyed it.

I want to thank you so much for producing this Vlog. My parents got married just after WW2 and visited the Jefferson Estate when on Honeymoon. After my father passed away, my Mother returned to her family in Scotland, where I live to this day. I still treasure the photographs they took on their visit to Monticello and I always hoped to visit it one day. Many, many thanks Jordan.

I remember reading a quote by JFK. He had walked into a room at the White House where he was holding a meeting of all these top Dignitaries from around the World. He said “ There has not been this much intelligence in one room… Since Thomas Jefferson dined alone”. Love history. Great job as always Jordan. Love ya ❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

When I was 12 years old my Grandma took me to Boston & we did the Freedom Trail, I will never forget it. I'm sure that's when my love of history began. She took me all over, to famous battle fields, we even went to Salem. I would love to visit this home, absolutely beautiful. Thank you for showing us this bit of history, enjoyed it very much! Thank you, Jordan! 🌼

Especially Totalitarianism which often starts by erasing culture…like removal of statues/historical monuments, changing the National Anthem, and brain washing students. This will lead to repeating mistakes and atrocities.

About 5 years ago, a room where Sally Hemmings was thought to have lived was uncovered during a remodel. It’s below the south annex early in your video. It was a bathroom when I last visited.

I don't believe they "uncovered" anything. When they tore down the bathroom they "found" a chimney. Well then where was the chimney when they built the bathroom? Nobody noticed it? The world wasn't ready Sally. They are now.

Thanks for taking us to Monticello! You share so much detail about what we were seeing inside the house and grounds. I was there once in 1992, and did the guided tour. It seems that much has changed since then. This seems more like one of your vlogs from Europe... anxious for those to resume. Meanwhile, this was cool!

Thank you for taking us on a tour of history. That location has been on my bucket list for years but I doubt I will ever see it in person. How much of the furnishings in the house are original to Mr Jefferson and his family? I hope they mentioned something on the tour. My other bucket list entry is Mt Vernon, Mr Washington's home. Thank you again Jordan.

    • @DazewithJordantheLion

Hey Jordan, Long time. Great tour of Jefferson's plantation home. I have not been there since 1995. At the time they were installing a museum quality air conditioning system. The North Entrance is actually the main entrance where Jefferson would receive guests. That is where the legendary General Lafayette from France came in to meet him. It is such an amazing place and really a miracle that it survived the centuries. Jeff

    • @ginocukale9348

Yes there is. It is also exactly timed with the days of the week, as the clock turns there's other markings that point to what day of the week it is. Then at the end of the week TJ would have to wind it up again.

Wonderful vlog, Jordan! So glad you made your way there! I've been to Monticello a couple of times. The first time you weren't allowed to photograph or take video of the inside of the house. I've gone back since then and was thrilled to see those rules had changed. Also, a fun fact...the front of Monticello is pictured on the back of the American Nickle! I found that pretty neat when I learned that piece of information. Thank you for sharing Thomas Jefferson and his beloved Monticello!

Thanks for doing this video, Jordan! Monticello is a deeply interesting place to visit. And it's located in a particularly beautiful part of Virginia. I mean, Virginia is a beautiful state, but Charlottesville is just so pretty. I don't think I'd want to drive on their hilly winding roads in the winter, though! Jefferson really picked a magical spot for his home. It's very much worth a visit for anyone who hasn't been there. You covered a lot! Thanks again!

Great vlog, I have never been to Virginia. As a living history reenactor in California (civil war era) I’ve been concerned about our history being forgotten. We have to remember the bad as well as the good lest it happens again. I like the part where you say “this doesn’t look like they were well taken care of”. Imagine having so little room for a big family!

This was amazing. Such a beautiful house. I love how they’re still finding evidence of buildings and artifacts. The slave gravesite is so sad, I’m glad the estate made the efforts to identify as many as they could. I wonder how Jefferson’s Grandson’s father-in-law made it into the family plot. I also wonder if the man who purchased the estate and buried his mother there is also buried there.
