- In this Srijan Talk, Shri Prafull Goradia talks about his book "Hindu Masjids". He brings out gory details of how Mandirs were destroyed by Islamic rulers and Masjids built in their place. And in the process, the idols were destroyed and desecrated, and masjids built over the ruins of the mandirs. He mentions, in his talk, the barbaric plunders of Mahmud of Ghazni and Muhammad Ghori. These Islamic rulers destroyed the temples to loot the temple wealth and with an aim to establish and spread Islam in India.
Shri Prafull Gordia speaks about how restoration of these temples should be of concern and treated as national issues instead of treating them as religious issues. He maintains that very little work has been done by the Archaeological Survey of India.
About the Speaker: -
Prafull Goradia, a former parliamentarian, political thinker and entrepreneur is also a prolific writer and has authored several books. They include Dear Editor (1997), Saffron Book (2001) and Hindu Masjids (2002), painstakingly a researched work on how Hindu mandirs which have been converted into masjids, predominantly in the pre-Lodi period. Last year he embarked on his most ambitious and novel project-Krishna Rājya-shedding new light on a hitherto unexplored area of Indian political science.

In 2014 I visited India for the first time. I noticed that a lot of Indian people aren't aware of the history and background of these historical sites. Even the guides are not telling the whole stories when you go there as a tourist. I personally think that the Qutab Minar-complex is a good example of this (and a sad one too).
In popular literature and documentaries this complex is portrayed as a work of 'art' and as an example of 'high standard Indian, medieval architecture' . When I found out that the Qutab Minar (and the unfinished Alai Minar) were in fact ' victory towers' for the Delhi sultans to commemorate their victory on the Hindu kings and people of the Indian subcontinent, I was quite shocked that the real story is not being told. Moreover, it think it is sad to see that there is not a national debate in India about the positions of these historical sites.
I think that next generations of Indians, and outside India, should be made aware of the real history of India and the type of oppression and some times even genocide which took place during the periods of the Delhi Sultanate and the Mughal Empire. Otherwise, there will be no Indian consciousness and a sense of unity.
History is what We learn from the past but not repeat the same story.Please do not stire up bitterness among communities Lot of water has passed through Ganges since then We must pay attention to urgent problems like food,medecine and shelter.When are we going to pay attention to Ganga.project?

Sir, when I visited/toured the north of India and saw the kutub minar and the red fort for the first time 27 years ago, I cried. I was horrified at all the destruction of Hindu places of worship!
So did I to see the disfigured stonework which are so sacred to us having been used in that manner at a time of our weakness in history. We have survived and we will continue to do so and overcome the tragedy. Time will tell.
I went there during my first visit to India in 2018 and I could immediately notice that there were ruins of temple..I did not want to remain for longer and I asked my driver to leave..
When I went first time to kutub minar, I remember seeing a description that it was constructed by demolishing 27 Jain temples. When I visited recently (4 years back), I didn't find it
The 27 temple's were for the 27 Nakshatra's or mapped 3-D pieces of space described in Sanatan astrological science!
I visited same place in December 2019 and felt very bad. Have you noticed that their is no Hindu ancient temple in around 100 km radius of Delhi.!

First of all thanks for accepting few facts which most Muslims refuge to do. But I am sorry to disagree with you on one point. It is true there were lot of invasions in medieval times, but none other than Muslims were attacking the worship places of others. Muslims not only in India but every other place has destroyed any traces of earlier civilization, temples, and churches were a very specific targets.

After 70 years of Independence,when the perpetrators crime of concealing facts from its own population,lost power, Hiundus started thinking about atrocities by invaders, especially the Muslim rules in Pre British eras almost 1000 years back.
But what about the crimes recently happened just 2-3 centuries back in Goa? their old temples,and killed their staff and priests in hundreds!

Its very sad to know all these details. Unfortunately none of it is part of history books. I am atleast 99% of our population isnt aware of these details. This kind of details should be shown on Our national channel and some of the important channels
According to "Koran" Masjid built on pre-existing structures is considered haram. Why then many Masjid's are standing having common walls and structure with earlier temples? All these mosque's should be reversed as its against tenants of Islam. These were all made by uneducated marauders. This would go a long way to restore communal harmony and respect between Muslims and Hindus across New India.

It's an eye opening talk. He has pointed at the flaw of another faculty .. the archeological survey of India. But with 70 years of congress (almost) at the centre and a very very dejected, hammered, psychologically weak, sleeping HINDUS, JAINS, BUDDHISTS.. what power did ASI have to call out their honest findings . Today we have the guts to talk about it, ASI has the guts to (particularly an honest muslim like K K Mohammed) tell the truth about the temples under the mosques, Hindus have the guts to confront thanks to the government at the centre and BiG thanks to Modiji for using first four years to gain friendship and favor of the western world and his own people in India. Salute to all Hindus and those truthful muslims for just speaking the truth.
