This is what I want to know. Most important topic. I think it is far more complicated than a single or few who. Andrew, please look it the fact that the Qatar gov donated FORTY BILLION to US universities in a short time period. WAY higher than any other nation. Followed by the Saudis and other Arab nations.

its always the case, I grew up on a council estate full of drugs and crime, yet I see privileged uni brats screaming about legalizing weed because they smoked a few in their dorms with their mates, they have not got a clue, I think anyone advocating it should be forced to spend 6 months living on a sink estate full of weed heads mugging people for cash and watching their life slide and the dispair of their families, I feel the same way about everything, advocating for more immigration? then spend 6 months in an area where the local council dumps them, spend some time in temp accommodation trying to get permanently housed, and jobs too advocating for gender ideology? spend 6 months volunteering at a womens shelter, see how the court system treats women etc.

It boggles my mind that the Left don't see the huge trauma that immigration is: for the wealthy it may be exciting and adventurous. For those in crises and poverty it is the probable severing of family, community and country, no jetting back and forth for holidays and gorgeous Insta moments. It will be decades of hard grind learning new language and culture, feeling un-moored and insecure and deeply depressed/anxious.
To provide support is a no-brainer...to facilitate it in such incredible numbers that providing good support is impossible? Crazy and cruel

Well we live within luxury here, but are forbidden to partake unless we are wealthy. So there will always be those who are unwealthy who resent this, and will seek to tear down the system that keeps them poor. SO, rather than help themselves to succeed within the rules of society, they seek to WIN in some other way ...like how a barbarian wins, or an animal wins during a hunt. A visceral victory is what the affluent non-thinkers desire! Something that makes them feel alive and covered in the blood of their fallen foes. Barbarism must inherit the Earth ..and thus some portion of humanity must take to the stars. Bro

There's another term as well - "intellectual decadence." We focus on things that only a decadent people have the time/money to worry about. And we do so, to our own detriment, due to the notion that time is finite and every second we spend worrying about woke issues is a second we could be devoted to doing something productive or simply enjoying leisure, both of which are preferable to what we're currently doing.

Yes it's a silly system that only recognises academic results where only a small percentage have the raw intelligence. They've lowered the standard so much that the degrees are useless and meaningless and other talents which are useful are not utilised or developed in the crush to be " university educated". It's not good for the academically talented because they cannot be nurtured either. It's a mess.

And does not take into account environmental factors. We are all so different, that won’t make everyone happy. However, I did go to church years ago, and I went every week. I must admit I found an inner peace in me, and I was calmer and happier. I would like to go back, I found I’ve been so busy, doing a degree and now a new demanding job. But I will go back, it was great for the soul, and the people there were so caring, and looked after each other. It was nice to belong to something bigger than myself if that makes sense

@@marieyoung3113 One thing we all miss perhaps in this modern life is working actively for the greater good of those around us. Back, long long ago, when the life of all in the “village” depended on many people (I won’t say all of the people as there must always be the sick, weak and other folks who can not really participate), there must have been satisfaction in working towards some common goals that helped everyone.
We are so separated now. We all go on our own way to work or school without reference to others. I would think that going to church (or any religious service) regularly would bring a feeling of community and shared goals.
I’m not a church going person, but I have found a small amount of peace and satisfaction from working with some of the women in my neighborhood who have said they have no friends and always feel alone. We just meet once a month in the community center and chat and drink tea as women do. We have all benefited with less loneliness and looking forward to seeing each other.
These days in our modern life, a neighborhood is often just a collection of houses where the people living there have little to do with each other. That is our biggest problem, I think.

I’d have to push back a little bit on the “trickle down” definition… A, I haven’t heard that term used in 15-20 years and B, even if used now it just means less taxes, regulation and just overall less Gov to help those that truly provide livelihoods and drive the economy. What’s maddening to me is that people still try to argue about what actually creates economic growth and prosperity… the Gov doesn’t create jobs or revenue and the fact that the Left and Democrats still debate this shows just how dishonest and incompetent they’re as leaders.

The abortion "topic" always bewilders me. I don't see any need for there to be an ideology or politics around it, for govt or academia to be involved in it, as they recently have taken it upon themselves to do. It has always been a matter for the individuals involved to decide on, using their own free will, personal beliefs and situation.
Edit: to clarify there should not be an overarching, "one size fits all" way to think about abortion as a topic. It is exceedingly personal and specific to each individual.

Trickle down economics is the opposite of a luxury belief. Trickle down economics directly benefits, rich people who support it, while it directly harms poor people who believe in it. The definition of a luxury belief is something that harms others, while the person who holds it is sheltered from those harms.

  • @dustythurman5426

Starts off with a common fallacy.
    "Trickle down economics"
    1. This is a slanderous name by Democrats and does not represent the idea, at all.
    2. The idea is that a good economy is good for EVERYONE, so a policy that helps the rich is not a "bad" idea just because it helps the rich. If it is helping everyone, then stop being so envious just because it also helps the rich.
    3. When trying to turn an economy around, you have two options. Improve conditions for the typical employee or improve conditions for the typical employer (which includes small businesses). It is indisputable that efforts to help the employer are more effective and help everyone, where helping the employee tends to only create inflation due to this almost always being some kind of handout or comes at the detriment of the employers, so there are fewer jobs.
Democrat economic ideas are almost always about buying votes by making people believe we need democrats to give handouts, so they hated the Reagan economics despite how obviously successful they were. So instead, they mischaracterized the ideas and slandered them as "trickle down".
Him perpetuating this fallacy popularized by Democrats shows he REALLY was not prepared for this question.
Additionally, he is empirically wrong to claim capitalism inherently concentrates wealth.

Join the dots between all the troubled souls in the decaying western world and i guarantee you'll find that before the drugs, the alcohol, the depression and whatever else ails you'll find they hail from a broken home. We have so normalised selfish divorce that we fail to recognise it as the root cause of our problems. Divorce and family breakdown destroys a child's faith and innocence.

And I will NEVER blame people for wanting a better life, but there's so many issues with the mass amount of migration we have now. I think wealthy countries should do much more to help the poor shitty countries to do better, thus obviating the need and desire for such huge migration
