Absolutely wonderful. I could watch you all day! I know we are supposed to be obsolete as a species, but I'd like to see a robot make a bespoke French mattress!
Thank you for the really informative video.. I have an old futon mattress that needs refurbished and I was at a bit of a loss at what/how I was going to do it. That mattress looked beautiful at the end. ❤
I absolutely love this!!! Thank you! I have been looking for a tutorial like this for years and never quite found it. This video is a treasure. :) Many, many thanks! -Audrey
I loved watching this. I made one too, but not with the feather topper how lovely and soft. Gorgeous stitch work. I learnt some extra tips from watching yours.
Thanks Lara. Yes the feather makes quite a difference and you can vary the thickness of it of course. I made a super sloppy one once with just fathers. X
Hi there. The information you're asking for is in the trade only version that's on my website in the Trade Pro section reserved for professional makers in the business. If that's you, then maybe consider joining up at www.windmillcurtainroom.com
I joined the Trade Pro account so I could access the measurements but have not been able to find the Pro video or detailed instructions on the forum. Can you direct me to the right place? Ty!
I wonder why you wouldn't line up the short edges with the same pinstripe, and sew the four pieces (two long/two short) so that it isn't distracting...and not much more work?
I think you mean to have the 2 end pieces with the stripe running horizontally and the front and back pieces vertically. Traditionally, all the side pieces are made with the mattress ticking stripe orientated vertically. This is for a few reasons; it's what looks the best, it's traditional and also because the mattress edge stitching creates vertical impressions in the fabric, so orientating some of it horizontally would be jarring. Furthermore, to use 4 separate pieces would require a join at each corner, something that's usually avoided to give a more professional look and to reduce bulk but mostly because each join would be stripes joined at different orientations. Something, I would argue, would be more distracting than the traditional way shown in the video.
Really lovely! I’m a upholsterer and can appreciate the tremendous amount of work that goes into this cushion. And the sore fingers! I’m curious about two things. The miter on the corners, would love to see a demonstration on your method. Also, do you add an allowance to the cushion size to make up for drawing in at the edges? Btw, love those tufted buttons! Thank you for you video. ❤
Hi there. I have a another version of this video, a much more detailed step by step tutorial, that answers your queries over on my Patreon channel. I polled the trade community and the overwhelming response was to keep the more advanced technique tutorials reserved just for the trade in exchange for a small monthly charge. If you are trade and are interested you can find me here www.patreon.com/windmillcurtainroom . You'll need to select the Trade Pro tier and I'll screen your application.
It very much depends on what, if anything, the foam is wrapped in or whether it has a feather topper etc. It also depends on how tight you want the cover to be so it's a hard question to answer I'm afraid. The best I can suggest is to prepare your foam first and then measure for the size of cover you want allowing roughly half an inch on all sides for a seam allowance.
Hi there, the mattress is made from a piece of foam with a feather topper. I do have a full tutorial showing the start to finish. It is strictly trade only and is over on my Patreon channel. www.patreon.com/WindmillCurtainRoom
It's a wireless mic so I can move around freely. Sometimes the reception isn't that great. I'll invest in a better one when I'm able. Glad you enjoyed the video though. 😊

Ha ha... I bet the robot wouldn't have lost their big upholstery needle and had to struggle with a bodkin and pliers 😂

Thank you. I was able to build an actual bed mattress with this tutorial
Oh that's marvelous, well done 👏 💛
Beautiful work. A true labour of love. You can see why these are expensive to buy 👏
Yes there's a fair amount of work on them if they're done properly. Thank you for your lovely comment

Just so beautiful! Your workmanship is perfect, I would love to make this one day but it wouldn't be anywhere as perfect as this.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. 😍
Beautiful work!
Thank you so much 😊
Awesome video, very skilled and useful, thank you so much!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Brilliant tutorial thanks. How do you calculate fabric measurements to incorporate the edge stitching please?

Thanks for this video! How big is your work/cut table?
Hi there. My table is 2m wide x 3.2m long.
How do you calculate for take up?

How long did this take from start to finish? You are still wearing the same shirt so you did this in 1 day!!???
I think overall it took about 8 hours over 2 days. I have to spend a lot of time setting up cameras and changing batteries 🤔
@@WindmillCurtainRoom Wow! Thank you for sharing and for all of the time you put into putting it all together 🙏🏻

I had to turn the music off. The repetitive house music vibe was starting to make me feel crazy.
