In our area/country/content, this animal not endanger.. you can get this anytime.. this animal is our delicacy. People eat this from long time ago.. from generation to generation.. Not something we tried yesterday and make it to our new menu.. Just like you guys eat pork, some of us didn't.. but, did you saw us non pork eater barking?? No, we didn't.. cos we know it's your delicacy..
I respect culture and I don't judge people who eat different animals, but this one in particular I cannot respect. This animal is too important, and shouldn't it be consumed, other animals won't do? The Horseshoe Crab is important for humans, but not for eating!

Others are probably anthropomorphizing the crab, but to be fair the horseshoe crab is the only existing species in its order. It's also an endangered species in some areas due to overexploitation.

it makes me too sorry: at least in their environment they have a chance to be at the same strength, but there, they are only "things" thrown into the ice, then into the fire, or cut up alive as if they don't feel anything as we see them writhing in pain. Empathy is precisely the ability to feel the suffering that one can impose

The horseshoe crab has been around in some form for about 500million years, and survived every mass extinction event so far... but one wonders if it will be able to survive the one we are causing now...
I'm not saying we should stop eating them, but I do advocate controlled fishing, setting quotas and minimum sizes for keeping. This goes for all seafood, regardless of species. I've watched other videos of seafood catching, where there is clearly no set limit on size or number of individuals caught...and have watched the size of the swimming crabs caught shrink significantly over that time. The time to act is now, or there will come a point when there won't be anything to catch... a time that the people doing the fishing clearly haven't thought may come a lot sooner than they realise!
