  • How Russ Spent $10 On Music and Made $1.5 Million
This is why I say if someone isn’t doing it themselves, don’t listen.
@russ is doing this every single day and has been.
He’s been independent with no fans.
    Signed with major radio play.
And now independent with millions of fans.
And he’s saying right now the money is in music ownership.
    Not touring.
    Not merch.
    Not sponsorships.
All of that is ancillary income.
    Side dishes.
    Side bitches.
    Your main is music ownership.
That is the easiest and longest way to get paid, forever.
Market your music so you get paid.
    Post daily.
    Get on playlists.
Get your song in social media videos.
Go live and discuss your music.
Do what it is you need to do to get your music heard so your intellectual property can get you paid, forever.

It does seems like a waste of money touring. And bad for you physical and mental health!

This is inspiring. I always thought you had to tour in order to make money as an independent artist. I never thought I could do it because I don’t want to tour. I don’t think I could keep up with it lol or want to do it. I wouldn’t want to get my fans hopes up like that. But doing the music and putting it out there and chilling at home, I’m all for it.

  • @SneakerGoodsMiamiTV

Labels want you to tour because it’s gonna boost your album sales which is gonna make them more money so if you own all your music that’s where you really benefit. That’s why it’s important to own your masters. That show money go quick

Artist signed to labels make good money off of touring because they don’t have to spend to set up the tour. Imagine spending 2 million to make 3 million vs spending 0 to make 1 million. Each scenario has its bonuses. I personally feel like being independent is still the best route however because you’re in complete control of your destiny.

That's what I'm saying. To reach 1 million streams in a short amount of time paying less than the amount it would cost to obtain them doesn't seem very easy. We all know putting up your music without any marketing won't make you a penny. Putting together a plan of getting to a million for 2500 or less even seems very difficult. I suppose once you reach those heights though they must keep growing at some point.

What’s the difference between an artist being booked for a show and touring ?

@k r Okay, well i am trying to figure out which one comes with less expenses.

you don't pay anything for being booked , whether indie or not . you make money from touring when under a label but , that's because the label will finesse you in so many ways you won't see the money your music actually makes . but being indie , everything is on you , so setting up that tour for yourself , you'll actually see how much it costs . Russ says he spent 2 million to make 3 million from touring , under a label you could make a million from spending nothing , that's how it's different . but being booked , you're being paid to make an appearance and / or perform , you don't spend anything for that .

I appreciate what you’re doing but you have to understand that streaming wasn’t a thing before like 2010.
Everything has been passed down, and there’s not a specific date where everything shifts.
If everything what set in stone like blockchain does, then it’d probably be more common knowledge but just like in everything in life, the greatest moments happen without our full awareness.
    We’re all guinea pigs.
But gladly there’s TH-cam and channels like yours to light up the paths for new comers and past tourers

@@eternalafterlyfe It’s ok. I found their site to be a bit more professional and they offered other services to help artists, such as Cloud Master for quick mastering of your song and other means to market your music. As far as payments to artists, I do see that they collect quickly, however they do take 15% of your publishing, because they the ones collecting your revenue from streaming.
