      How does ginseng compare vs coffee / caffeine? I've tested taking a ginseng supplement at the start of the day vs a coffee and found at the end of the day working out I had more energy on Ginseng but It might have just been that I had a worse lunch and dinner maybe with simple carbs on the coffee day which resulted in a carb crash so the results may have been tainted by other factors like that. I forget my diet for both those days as this was a while ago.

      @@ProtossHyrdalisk why? I do not, I was just severely mistreated and reacted very badly to medications that were inappropriate to treat my condition but I checked with two doctors, one knowing me all my ñife so I trusted them, then I felt very very sick and like something was wrong with my behaviour and brain and no one took me seriously and they all just kept pushing meds on me which I reacted badly to and alsp never asked for and the last medication I should have never taken because it ruined me immediately but I was confused and my fanily were horrible caretakers and now I have been extremely ill for one year already, bedridden, because of clogged ears. It took 20!!! Doctors of all kinds to fimd one with a tiny bit of empathy to actually ask how I feel and bot just fill in with some totally inappropriate shitty comments how I feel and why. All I wanted was some time off work, a good psychologist and understanding what was going on with me and everyone failed me all within 6 weeks time. So many doctors went against what I asked for and just did not listen, dismissed me, pushed me on meds I did not need and said I did not want, etc. And now I am even more ill and obviously even less taken seriously but medicine handicapped me and no one takes responsibility.

      I mean he said what you should look out for. If you're tired when you woke up, that means you're getting less sleep that you need. If your pee is dark yellow, you need more water. Anything other than that and you're definitely fine.
      I feel like you're just getting health anxiety because you think you're oblivious to these things. The body has a way of telling you what you need and like Dr. Mike said, it's individual needs. Don't worry too much about it.

    I think I need an online full course by Dr. Mike how to be a good doctor that I can gift to the one or other one around me. They are getting a bunch of things right, but that understanding of patient perspective, that communication skill of how to ask questions and figure out the intentions behind ppl's health questions but also therapy preferences ... there's so much. I love how he handles thes things and is getting comfortabe in promoting the uncomfortable truth of "shortcuts tend to be a scam" while NOT spreading the hopless "work hard" attitude. He's actually capable of teaching us where to give ourselves some slack, what affects us how and figuring out what pathway HAS a chnce to work for us!
    I also love the ADHD inclusion! Cause yep, my phone helps me with things that I thankfully allowed myself to give up on traning, cause my brain priorities are what they are and not what is expected of me X'D And it's so freeing to work with my needs instead of trying to work myself into tiny boxes I don't belong into. I'm good at other things instead and practice my "muscles" there!

    • @danielclv97
      @danielclv97 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Like Dr Mike said, how much? 1g of "processed sugar" is bad for your long term health? 10 grams? 1kg a day? It's just sugar, it won't do anything bad to your body in moderation. Sugar itself it's not bad for your health, but if you get obese because you eat too much, sugar will be a part of why you're eating too many calories. Also, if you don't eat the nutrients your body need because you're getting full with deserts, yes, it will have a long term affect. But sugar by itself, processed or not, it's just a rather simple substance, that our body can break down into glucose, used to generate ATP, that's it.

    • @timewalker38

      Meditation is lierally that! And can actually be considered first line training for everything emotional-mental, cause IF you can get proper guidance on what meditations work for you and which do what, then it's the key to train your brain to be present and observe what's going on without having to react to it.
      You decrease the times you get "run over", you get better at kindly processing the times when you did get "run over". You learn to be attetive to the early signals of your impulsivity and can intervene before it gets the best of you. You can learn to recognize triggers to emotions (which all behaviourss stem from) which often lie far underneath surface emotions and behaviours. You can learn how to recognize your bhaviour pattern nd when you learned, that that's the response to that situaton and gain more flexibility in relearning a new route, which quite literally reprogramms the brain pathways.
      It's a fantastic key that is no shortcut LOL.
      It's a long term multi-purpose-tool that needs custom fitting, cause e.g. ADHD brained me will need a very different approach to a neurotypical person!

    Sometimes when Dr. Mike makes a video it doesn't feel like I'm hearing a doctor, but a TH-camr performing. I'm sure he's trying to be as genuine and accurate as possible, but the TH-camr persona hinders it (not just him, plenty others sound disingenuous on YT too).
    These podcasts help because he really sounds like a doctor here even in his subtle movements.
    I guess to reiterate I'm not surprised he puts on a certain attitude for his vids, it's just the way this site is. I just personally wish TH-camrs didn't all talk a similar way on their vids.

    Wow the microscope joke blew my mind. Associating Mike with microscope is a small leap, but I get it. But why would there always be a microscope nearby? And why the hell would people have a problem with that so much that they don't like Mike for it... I guess humans are still too dumb to understand AI jokes and we have to train our sense of humor.

    Love the pod. But there was no explanation to why cold water is bad or a quick fix. Bash it if it’s too uncomfortable for you, but you can’t argue there isn’t at least mental benefits and feels great after

    • @abelchavez2463
      @abelchavez2463 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It's a quick fix because many ppl who advertise it say that your mental state will be better or muscles will be stronger, when the reality is that cold water dunking is irrelevant to the fact that if one works out or generally has healthy hobbies they will also see those benefits. Cold water dunking does not lead to unique benefits. Although that doesn't change that ppl like doing it and are happy when they do, happiness with your hobby is good.

    I can't believe Marques brought up his horrific, overpriced shoes. $200 for a pair of shoes that would be a deal if they were like $50, maybe less.

    One major thing for posture is to avoid sitting. Get a stand up desk and spend some of the work day standing.
    Yeas ago I worked in a call center and I would stand with my back against the wall shoulders pushed back just to get out of tye "hunched over goblin" posture I often end up in at the computer.
    The other thing to do is work out your back. When back muscles get strongernthey tend to automatically improve your posture.
