No longer up now, there were videos of a testing match between Brake and Jones at Edison.
In Game 1, Brake won quickly with an EP Dust, ryko flip and airbellum hit, followed by a caius by turn 3 to which Jones scoops.
However, Quickdraw exceedingly out-grinded CaliberCat after playing from behind on both following games.
Game 3 was won with Drill Warrior resource recovery in late stage after playing defensively and almost losing.
In Game 2 I remember Brake threw his hands up and exclaimed in disbelief at Jones resolving the third Avarice while Jones was low on LP and cards, and Jones eventually won with Hamster advantage, Tytannial support with tokens, and dust+book.
QD could adapt to different game-states while playing defensively and recover/produce resources in different ways, and CaliberCat was effective in applying pressure/tempo but had limited ways to play out of unfavorable board scenarios, and lacked both in resource-recovery and in playing from behind.

I remember when dark armed first came out and going to one of the 1k tournaments in Connecticut. Paul Levitan had a deck with 3 doomcaliber, gold sarc, and crush card, all SJC prize cards only at the time, along with the full dark armed and d hero package max rarity. That has to be one of the most expense decks ever made.

I remember reading Billy's after event post on duelist grounds or pojo at some point. It gave some insight as to why doomcal. I'll paraphrase what I remember here.
Before the event Billy was playtesting vs Jeff Jones' Quickdraw Dandy Plant and despite playing many matches Billy couldn't really win the match-up (I think he didn't win a single match). He decided to change his deck to utilize doomcal as a card that could significantly help in that match-up. Funnily enough during the event Billy's only match losses were also to Jeff (once in swiss and then during the semi-finals) despite the doomcal inclusion.

One of my favorite decks of Edison format! Incredible to see one piece of Yu-Gi-Oh's history synthesized as good as only Joe can do

The reason I thought of for him using shield crush over nobleman was to prevent banishing his own rykos. He can have counter play to decks that set without banishing one of his most important tools.

Shield crush is a card I've considered teching in the side of a few edison decks. mainly those that have trouble with walls like Dupe frog, spirit reaper, and ancient fairy dragon.

I like this deck so much! Hopefully if I have a nephew next year when he gets older I will introduce him to these older retro formats!

Great as always! You should show off the koa’ki meiru deck from ‘14! One of the top decks during nats that year

Also Tuner's Scheme has the same timing as bottomless/torrential, so it can't be used on Drill Warrior's return in standby

This gives me the urge to work some kind of junk synchron deck. I love going into level 5s every turn and one of my historically favorite decks is junk and debris in space. I have found that android is waaay better than catastor though. I wish it got the recognition it deserves!

What are your thoughts on plant cat? I’m playing it with enough darks for dad and know no spies. I love cat and this is the best dedicated list I could find.

    • @SnackMuay

I think the plant engine is the way to go. Avarice has such great synergy with both the cat engine and the plant engine. both fuel the grave with monsters quickly and avarice lets you put the combo pieces back into the deck to reuse cat/monk. And tomato is a great way to link the two engines together. The main problem with the deck is just managing normal summons. The deck has a ton. I think cards like allure of darkness are really nice to have as a way to make the monsters in your hand live quicker, rather than having to wait another turn and be able to use your normal.
