    Hi there! I’m from australia and I am making personalised sacks and stockings for Christmas for my customers. Both the sacks and stockings are velvet and I’m wondering what your recommendations would be when using metallic htv? I did one for a customer but it bubbled. I used the cricut heat guide with my heat press. Do you have any suggestions?

      Thank you for reaching out! Sorry but I don't have experience pressing onto velvet fabric. But I did find this video, I hope you find it helpful.

      I am not quite sure what you mean. this blanket has a low pile and it worked great. I wouldn't recommend using this method on blankets with a high pile, or long threads.

    I am new to this process. I have watched a lot of videos; all different. How come you don't use a teflon sheet? Will the square mark around the design from the iron go away? TY

    • @KatieAdams
      @KatieAdams  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Heidi! Yes, the square from the Easy Press does go away. The Metal base on the EasyPress is specially coated so you don't need the teflon sheet. I only use the sheet with the EasyPress if I am doing multiple colors or types of Iron-on, or if the fabric is super delicate.

    What would you recommend if my velvet is burning from my Heat press? Should I add something in between to iron on velvet?

    • @KatieAdams
      @KatieAdams  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It may be that your press is too hot. But also yes, you can try a cover sheet to help. You can use a Teflon sheet, or butcher paper to help protect the fabric.

    • @KatieAdams

      Not a dumb question at all Heather! For fabric, you want to use Iron-on vinyl. It is also called heat transfer vinyl but it is the same as iron-on.

    • @KatieAdams
      @KatieAdams  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Linda! No reason to apologize, that is why I am here! Yes, any heat transfer vinyl should work. Although the Cricut brand is my favorite! :) You would heat press for 30 seconds, and slowly peel. If the HTV doesn't stick you can reapply the the heat.

    • @KatieAdams

      With iron-on there is no need to use transfer paper. The iron-on comes on a backing sheet so you remove the extra iron-on after the design is cut and then apply the iron-on.

      @@SummerBridges143 I have been using this blanket for a couple of years and it has not peeled at all.
      Clothing can be different because they are usually washed much more frequently. But washing inside out at the right temperatures can really help with the longevity of the iron-on. A professional heat press also helps with longevity. You don't want to iron-on with a laundry room iron.
