I think it makes you seem more casual and relatable when you roll up your sleeves. It also gets rid of everyone's first thought when it comes to how you performed the trick.

    • @mystiquesiddharth5450
      @mystiquesiddharth5450 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes it matters , because they trust us only when we have our sleeves rolled up and they think that nothing is going on when are sleeves are rolled up but when they are down they assume that something is going fishy and we are using some sleight

In my opinion using sleeveless shirts sor T-shirt’s brings the full effect of getting rid of the sleeve so the thought isn’t even there but card tricks are fine with anything

    • @caidengirardot9400
      @caidengirardot9400 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, definitely, when you start by doing a trick once with your sleeves down, then roll up your sleeves and do it one more time, it is so much more impressive

    • @jenslange6356

I think it makes you seem more natural if the sleeves are up and it makes the tricks seem more impossible.

I keep coming back to this video. And I'll keep coming back until I have tenkai pennies completely mastered. The trick is amazing for all the reasons you say, it's pure and immediate magic and this is the best version of it. Add in all the subtleties you've shared here and this video becomes a micro-masterclass in magic. PLEASE never hesitate to dive into all your subtleties and details, don't act like they're a bore, we crave them!! Thank you again, amazing stuff

Sleeves up, sleeves down. As a magician I dont really worry how I look (mainly because I've been poor and homeless) so comfortablility is keen. That being said sometimes it's good for people to think you has something up your sleeve. It creates psychological distraction. On the other side. You could also incorporate them feeling your arms and checking your sleeves thus confirming the legitimacy of your clothing and expanding the "wow" factor for those who believe they know what is happening.

I think it does add to the trick as it adds a layer of “transparency” to the trick that nothing’s hiding up the sleeve and also adds more complexity to the trick!

Love the new glasses! 👓 I feel that even if your sleeves are down, most sleeves are fairly tight and very difficult to conceal objects BUT that doesn’t stop people’s skepticism. It’s absolutely more impressive having them up and many people say “well, I would guess it’s up your sleeve... but they’re rolled up!” 😎

I do a sweet coin vanish while rolling up my sleeves. Coin starts in the right hand, roll up the right sleeve, false transfer, the coin is then put into the left sleeve as it's being rolled up. I do one more apparent transfer and "the coin vanishes even with the sleeves rolled up".
Loved this trick, Jay. Gregory Wilson has a great three-fly using this same "Goshman Pinch" technique which I perform all the time. I will be using this two coin version. Thank you!

Great country trick! I am starting to practice it right now! Love the pinch of the coin behind the hand! And yes, no sleeves or sleeves up makes everything more magical. I ALWAYS work with sleeves rolled up.
At 6’5”, most off the rack long sleeve shirts aren’t long enough to wear with sleeves down anyway, but I feel the having the sleeves rolled up, eliminates the “up the sleeve” theory about magic, and enhances the impossibility of whatever I’m doing.

I want to start by saying how much I love your videos. You are a really talented magician and am helping my magic skills develop! I love learning little facts about the trick so that I can make them seem so much more professional when I teach them to my friends. The simplest tricks are already SO awesome and I think that rolling up your sleeve just makes your audience feel a bit more of a thrill from what they saw. The human mind always wants to figure things out and will attempt to come up with any answer to the near impossible act they witnessed. So I think to truly blow away your audience, rolling up your sleeves so then limiting the ways that you could have cheated them will make them one step closer to believing that what they just saw was MAGIC!
Keep up the great work and your thanks a lot for keeping me entertained in quarantine! 👏👏👏 And I’m totally heading straight to your magic website!

While it does dispel the old "it's up his sleeve" theory and look completely impossible, I still think that the evening suit magician really looks magical. And although I think it's ok to talk about "tricks" magician to magician, we should only say "magic" when talking to the audience. I have seen people be amazed when seeing the impossible done, and then when the word trick is said, they seem to lose the air of amazment

On the sleeves topic: it’s very dependent on the setting and I have never encountered the “it’s up your sleeve”-accusation. But even if I would, I think it’s even better -> because there really is nothing up my sleeve and I can easily prove this to a potential heckler.

    Hi!
    Thank you for this video.
I think this will be the routine I will learn next. It's quick and so so deceptive. Even though I know how everything is done, it goes so quickly that I'm still startled by the coins moving magically from hand to hand.
I spent months learning a longer routine called Gadabout coins.
It had about 8 sleights that I had to learn from scratch.
And it's such a long routine I feel shy about showing it to anyone lol.
This routine I think could someone with less anxiety, because it will be over so quickly.
But learning all of the sleights in Gadabout coins was incredibly rewarding.
The greatest challenge was learning do the classic palm click pass.
    It wasn't easy :)
I had to learn to palm the coin convincingly.
Then learn to do a good classic palm vanish.
And finally do the complete click pass without dropping either of the concealed coins.
What a challenge it was and well worth it
It was childhood dream to learn coin magic and over 30 years later I did it
    😊

Having the sleeves up adds the subtle element of trust that the magician might not try to do anything sneaky . It actually leaves the Spector/ spectators lay off their guard for even one minute and that is when the magician actually does his trick . Yes having the sleeves up does affect the trick

Recent sub, love your chan! No sleeves - BUT - I like doing an effect where it seems almost obvious to the casual observer that you're sleeving something - then you confirm their suspicion in the next part of the routine where you "reveal the trick" showing how sleeving makes it possible - showing a demonstration - then afterwards roll up your sleeves and show you weren't, in fact, using them at all. POW! Builds the tension from 1) I think I know how this is done, but he's really good 2) oh neat, showing how it's done that way 3) WHAAAAATT???

It depends weather you're performing on stage or doing close-up magic. On stage it looks very elegant very glamorous, as a close-up performer with your sleeves rolled up your show that you have nothing to hide your hands are empty and you're about to take them on a magical journey of suspense and disbelieve.
