There are 3 Auto manuals you need to read for some of the mechanics stuff, one for sport vehicles, once for regular cars, and ones for commercial (trucks and vans). Intermediate mechanics is "Laines Auto manual - Commercial vehicles" (trucks and vans).
A good way to level mechanics at the beginning is to remove and re-install the battery, radio, bulbs, and seats. All you need is a screw driver. Keep in mind, you can only remove and re-install each part on a specific car once per in-game day.

O.o I can only remove and reinstall a part on a specific car once per ingame day? like it doesn't give exp after that or it's just impossible to? Either way that's wacky~

@@MrTorb correct, you only get the XP for removing and then the XP for installing the part once (per car) each in game day. I suppose it's to prevent you from farming the skill just sitting there removing and installing the same part for hours, then again that's exactly how all the other skills work so it is indeed whacky 😂

@@stonermoment Yeah is basically what I was thinking~ Also car parts get damaged when you fail to install / uninstall them too right, so they have a natural limit already~
And also.. how powerful is the mechanics skill anyways? Does it really need a limit? I feel like I'm literally not gonna use or need it this playthrough to begin with :P

Don't you start to get bored of the same character after so long? Usually if I survive a full month I start to get bored and want to start over.

There's certainly a bit of repetitiveness of me going around the same area and defeating the same respawning zombies, but since this is the first time I've survived so long I am having fun seeing all the later game issues that come up~
I have a vague goal of 100 days so that's also like a north star for me to aim for too

@@MrTorb Well making it to 100 days is pretty easy after you become totally self sufficient and as long as you don't take unnecessary risks you can survive forever. The biggest killer in late game is over confidence and boredom as there's no longer any challenge to surviving after you've secured a safe place.

@@chrismorgan1838 Is fair and makes sense~ I probably have everything I need to survive that long at my house already since I have the cabbage seeds and whatnot

@@MrTorb Thing with cabbages and farming is that although you'll not go hungry you'll lose weight without fishing or trapping due to lack of calories. Its so easy to catch fish compared to trapping rabbits but its still advised to do both so you have different food resources. You can get so many calories just by spear fishing and never using a fishing rod.

@@chrismorgan1838 :O I figured maybe I could just engorge myself on the cabbages all day and maintain the weight- that's extra impetus to build some more traps then!
