Not sure they are as much forgotten as they are simply outpaced by the Weatherby Magnum cartridges. Those of us who have spent considerable time working with Wby cartridges and rifles find they pretty much meet our specific hunting and shooting needs. Roy Weatherby certainly made the hunting and shooting sports a better overall experience with his work of some eighty years now. He definitely set the standard.
My standard load for shooting steel in my Steyr 300 H&H is a 215 gr. Berger Hybrid at 2812 ft/sec., with 69 grains of H4831SC. The Hornady manual is way off, probably due to old vintage rifles. Maximum safe load is about 71 grains according to Hodgdon. Hornady loading manual maxes out with this bullet weight at about 62 grains of 4831SC. Way off for modern rifles.
Thanks for the video. I just picked up a pre-64 Model 70 chambered in 300 H&H this week. Dies are ordered. Anxious to see how it shoots.
Well how does it shoot ?
@@truthseeker... It shot well but I sold it.
@@randysandberg5615 oh I see. I just acquired a pre 64 model 70 300 h&h super grade, haven't got to shoot it yet. Just found 100 brass to reload
Keep these great videos coming!
Thank you

Nice
You start pushing them bullets over 3,500 fps you got to start getting specialized bullet construction or it'll just vaporize or grenade
Yep
