Alastor is supposed to be half-Creole canonically, but the dude is GREY. I've never seen a cosplayer do anything other than gray or contoured white. I audibly gasped at the idea of people doing blackface. Oh my god. I hope that cosplayers would never even think about that.
"God is never mentioned as an active force" I suspect because bringing Jesus or God into it is a big ol' powder keg that WILL piss off some people whose vision of those beings doesn't line up with the way they're portrayed. And yeah, they're already pushing it on that front by the very premise of the show, but I imagine if they are planning to bring those beings into play, it'll be down the road once they've established a solid fan base, because adding those particular beings risks alienating parts of their audience they can't afford to this early.
