I made it in my commuter skate civic over the summer. 4x4 guys looked at me like I'm crazy, yeahhh a little bit. The Michelin defender tires that I run hold up good even on gravel roads.
I love the Bristlecone Pines. I haven't been there in over 40 years. Tried to take my grand children but they got bored before we got to them. Have been to both these and the ones in the Great Basin. They are truly amazing
Several years ago (2014), I made the drive to the Patriarch Grove in a rental minivan. I don't remember the road being too bad, but perhaps it has deteriorated since then. It was an amazing place to visit!
I see the coyote and the chicken/peacock, great video, going to make time and get there some day, can not believe a thumbs down again from someone. Your dad rocks, father and son team. It looks like you guys have a great relationship and now the videos will keep those memories forever. Keep the videos coming, really like your channel
Absolutely spectacular!! Being able to visit the tallest trees on the planet, the largest trees on the planet ... AND the oldest trees on the planet ... all in Northern California is soooooo great! We are fortunate to live in this incredible state!!
I visited the bristlecones in Nevada as well, that was a great hike! The terrain pretty much looks the same, other than there being a large rock in the background, Wheeler Peak. I haven’t been to the Patriarch Grove, just the Schulmann Grove, and that was pretty wonderful! That long drive to Patriarch tends to hold me back! Thank you Josh and Dad, I really enjoy your wholesome videos!
Wow! I haven’t done that part of the bristlecone pine forest cuz I don’t have a high clearance car. But those trees are a photographers dream. I totally want to rent a car and go up there. Thanks for the post.
Thanks so much, glad it could provide an introduction. I have another video coming tomorrow on an easier to access loop trail near the visitors center too
Great video, love the trees AND the white Dolomite rocks.. I was just up there last week did the hugs from Sherman Grove but for some reason, missed the Patriarch drove (the Shulman grove visitor’s center was closed.) Will be back in September
There is something beyond profound to see a tree that was living on that promontory 4,852 years ago, which means it was growing there before mankind invented the 365 day calendar. Hope people heed your caution about needing high-profile vehicles. That 13-mile drive is crazy jaw rattling. Worth the effort, without a doubt.
I was stunned and amazed when I read one of the info plaques at the visitor center that there could be three hundred years of tree ring growth in an inch! (I think I remember that right?)
Are you aware that your dad is pretty much the coolest guy since late Kenny Rogers? Nice relaxed mentality and a voice that qualifies for a singer. What kind of music does he like anyways?
@Scotchgod haha you made my day! I think I’ll copy your comment and send it to Josh on a regular basis! Thx for following CTML. Oh and I like country music mostly.
Do you have a video where you go to the visitor center? You said there are trails there too right? I wanna do this trip, but I can’t do the off road portion. So my only option would be to go to the visitor center. That way is fully paved right?
@@californiathroughmylens thanks for the reply. I love your videos, can’t wait. Me and my lady did Moro rock and trail of 100 giant trees last week thanks to your videos.
Beautiful and breathtaking! We’re thinking about visiting this area next summer....one thing that always “scares” us away from some trails is possible rattlesnake encounters? What’s the likelihood of running into one in the area?
The pines and landscape don't look particularly beautiful to me.. but I really shouldn't say anything until I visit; it seems like a place where time just stands still though so that's awesome. My favorite place to visit is Tahoe national forest s as I love seeing the Ponderosa pines growing among the running streams and incredible rock formations.
I could probably still do both trails, but it'd be a "no go" for my wife. She's never been able to handle altitude. She even had a hard time in Yellowstone at Mammoth Hot Springs which is just over 6700'.
Did this in 94. It hasn't changed! Thought you would have mentioned that the oldest trees are 3 - 4000 + yrs. The oldest dead wood has been measured at 7000 yrs old.

I was there 2 years ago and I'm going back. Such a relaxing area.

Thanks, I have a minivan and was wondering if it could make it.
I really enjoyed to watch this adventure.
I love your doing videos with your dad. As always, great video.
Thanks, it has been fun going on a few trips with him!
I have been by the turn off from 395.
Your video has convinced me to make this hike

haha glad you see both! My dad and I do have a great relationship and it has been fun to travel with him so much!
Fantastic job! I am very glad you are able to take your father along so he can enjoy the trip himself. Life is all about experiences
Thank u so much for this trip.. I couldn’t make it to this stop from Carson City to Los Angeles... 👏👏👏
That’s so cool I love history
Made it up to Patriarch Grove and White Mt. with my old low-clearance station wagon this summer. Was more concerned about getting a flat tire :-)
Great video,my man. I love when your pops goes with you. Oldest person you know.lol
That tree Looked like a howling lama to me.
haha, howling llama is hilarious 😂
Went there on Friday, amazing experience!
So glad you got to experience it
Super cool trees. Definitely want to go there on my next visit down 395.
It is beautiful to see it.
Agreed!
Very interesting video. The tree looked like a peacock or road runner to me. Definitely bird like.
On our list! Excellent video Josh!
Great video. There is also a Bristlecone pine forest at Great Basin NP in Nevada - they are truly unique trees, nothing quite like them.
I saw that there were three areas to see them, I will have to check out the one in Nevada as well!

Beautiful!!!!! Thanjs
We just moved to the central valley area. Your videos have been immeasurably helpful! Thank you so much!
Thanks for this. Love to go there one day. Long ways from NZ though.

No problem, I will have a video tomorrow on one of the loops near the visitors center that does not require offroading
What a beautiful pretty interesting 🧐 place to hike at I love ❤️
Thank you for showing us this! I have been looking for new places to explore with my son.
No problem! I have another video on an easier trail I will be posting tomorrow as well
@@californiathroughmylens thank you! Can't wait to see it! ❣
Great video Josh... Watching all the way from the land down under (Australia)
Thanks for watching all the way from Australia!
I've been wondering about the logistics of visiting there and your video is a great introduction. Another winner from your channel. 👍
Thanks so much, glad it could provide an introduction. I have another video coming tomorrow on an easier to access loop trail near the visitors center too
We hope to head up that way in a few weeks - hoping the smoke from the fires is cleared out by then.

Great video upload, love the view inside. Thanks for sharing your beautiful video . Supported from Viewsplus ❤️
Very cool to see!
Wish I would’ve known about this place when I was in the area a couple weeks ago! Looks cool.
Always good reasons to go back up Highway 395
Another nice video, I really enjoy your presentations.
👍
Thank you, I appreciate that!
I visited this part because of the video.
Thx. For sharing.. I'm guessing a regular street bike wouldn't have much of a problem getting up there.
Great videos love California
Thanks for the comment, I love California too!
I love your videos! I went to switzer falls here in Southern California amd absolutely loved it, keep up the great content.
That awesome! It is a fun little hike. Was there any water?
California Through My Lens yeah there definitely was and the stream was actually flowing pretty good and the waterfall still had a good flow
Legal! Quando postará novo vídeo?
Great Video. Have to put this on my bucket list. Great background music. How do I get a copy??
Looks like a really scenic fun drive. I've heard the Renegade is decent off road
Another cool day trip! Looked like you were the only visitors. Was it hot up there?

I agree, it is truly hard to comprehend how long those trees have been alive!
I feel like I want to bow, like the tree is a king, it somehow makes me humble!
I was stunned and amazed when I read one of the info plaques at the visitor center that there could be three hundred years of tree ring growth in an inch! (I think I remember that right?)
Wow, that is crazy! I didn't see that but it makes sense!

@@californiathroughmylens ...awesome yt channel👍🏻
You mind sharing a link of where you purchased your California Bear logo hat?
Thank you!
Wow that’s good to know about the road I will not attempt it in my sedan thanks!
Have you gone up the my baldy summit? They are all over there along the way up
I did take that road in a relatively normal sedan. We survived, but yeah, not recommended :) Took some of my favorite photos up there.
Hey can you check out the Crowley lake pillars?
Hey man! Great video, again. I’m coming with y’all on your next adventure so hit me up. Thanks!

What's you're main cam and lens for vlogging?
Here is a video I made on my gear th-cam.com/video/3pCFB2qwBfM/w-d-xo.html

Josh, where did you get your hat from? I love it! 😊
It's from Patagonia, it is called the Fitz Roy Bear Trucker Hat

Makes sense, this is certainly much higher. The altitude does get to you on the short trail.
I hope to camp around there and do Astro photography in the dark any suggestions?
Did this in 94. It hasn't changed! Thought you would have mentioned that the oldest trees are 3 - 4000 + yrs. The oldest dead wood has been measured at 7000 yrs old.
I would imagine that some of the trees have been hit by lightning over the years.
Can you camp out there?
You can camp by the trailhead for White Mountain but not at the Patriarch Grove, which doesn't allow overnight parking.
im going with Pops, looks like a coyote.
please bear in mind everything started anew living and growing AFTER THE INCREDIBLE WORLWIDE FLOOD: so something cant be older that The Flood hey
At 6:00 I think it looks more like a hen than a chicken
leggo
patriarch tree in the WHITE mountains! REEEEEEE!
Bristlecone pines grow Extremely slow
