As a disabled veteran, I have been down this road more times then you can ever imagine. Only to be taken back from hell with a new friend with unconditional love for me when I needed it most!
Bloody hell 😢 sobbing, know the pain of loving and saying goodbye to your best friend...rescued all were mine..but dam it hurts so much when they leave your side... rescue is the best, not paying thousands but simply getting a dog who truly needs you ❤❤❤❤❤
We lost our family member Storm aka 'Plip' just over 5 weeks ago. It's not good seeing your 'shadow' slip away after 10 glorious years with our baby. He had a growth on his spleen, which we had removed, and signs were good. Then we had blood build up around his heart two weeks later. It was unbearable to watch our brave boy suffer. Rest in Peace 'little man' . Will miss our rescue friend till the day we pass
"I was just a pup when we first met, I loved you from the start. You picked me up and took me home, And placed me in your heart. Good times we had together, We shared all life could throw. But years passed all too quickly, My time has come to go. I know how much you miss me, I know your heart is sore I see the tears that fall When I'm not waiting at the door. You always did your best for me, Your love was plain to see. For even though it broke your heart, You set my spirit free. So please be brave without me, One day we'll meet once more. For when you're called to heaven, I'll be waiting at the door."
If you need a good cry…the tears are because I’m remembering the wonderful times and mourning the times that will never be. The tears signify how much they mattered. And how much they were, and are still, loved.
I miss you so much Samantha, Carmen, Roo, Makayla, Drake, Delaney, Henry, Dixie, Kitty, and Frankie. ❤ The absolute only positive about saying goodbye to a pet, is being able to rescue a new loved one from a shelter.
Love to all my furry friends Rags 1972-1984, Chadwick 1984-1998,Billy my dads dog, Pepe 1999-2002 Mac 2002-2010 Pip 2010-2020 and Ginger2020-2022 all rescue dogs some came as puppies others older dogs all just needed love. MISS YOU ALL (UK)
There is no rush Toni. Your heart will know when it's time. I'm not there and it's been 5 years. All are harder than I can say, but when it's your soul-dog, time can stand still. You take all the time you need, and trust yourself. We all must make the choice when it is right for us. Wishing you love, light, and happy memories.
God sent pets from Heaven above as angels without wings wrapped in fur and with a heart that shows us true unconditional love to help make us better as a person😢❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I have had a rescue/shelter dog my entire adult life. I am 77 years old and I have had special needs dogs, unwanted dogs, surrendered dogs and I loved every one of them.
I just wanna share this with ya'll. I'm from Hidalgo N. L. Mexico and days to hit 60. In 1980, I went for two weeks to visit my aunt who lived in another state. When I came back, I found out that my dog got killed by a car that ran over 'im few hours the same day I left. Nobody told me coz they didn't want to ruin my days. I love dogs as well as the cats, both are amazing company.
Miss you My Boy Harry, nearly 3 years gone, and the pain is still too much to bear. They all deserve love, so if you can, rescue and give them the love they deserve.
We lost our dearly loved dog Christmas "Chris" due to heart disease in November, he made it through 12 years with the family. He left behind a 14 y.o.companion. I was planning on taking care of the latter till his days are over and no new dogs anymore. But in the middle of December I miraculously ended up with a rescue teen pup. She's the most beautiful girl on Earth, and as long as the adoption went surprisingly fast and well we call her "the first gift of Christmas", referring to the lost friend.
The best money my first wife and I ever spent was on our Doberman. Our kids were young and so was she, so they grew up together. She was our friend, our protector, our 5th kid. She was with us for 12 years. That was over 20 years ago and I still miss her!
Every dog needs a home and every home needs a dog. RIP Mitzi, Bruiser & Peeki (aka) Seigi. You may be gone but, you'll never be forgotten & will always be loved.
I know this pain… but I wish that I didn’t. When I lost my beloved pup, it felt like I’d been shot in the chest; the pain was real. I love dogs and I would LOVE to have another pup in my life, but I never want to feel THAT agony ever again. (At least, not by choice.)
I lost my beloved shadow a little over 2 years ago and I still think of her every single day. I still find myself crying when looking at pictures. I have 1 fur baby left that is 12 and is blind and getting slower. I know when his time comes that another piece of my heart will go with him... I too have said that I will not have another one... The loss and pain is more than my heart cares to bear.
We had to let our dog of 16 years go. We rescued her, and the vet said she was over two years old. A couple of months later my daughter's friend found 5 one week old puppies in a box dumped in a culvert. Flies, fleas, and other parasites were really thick on them. They couldn't see, or hear. But with the help of the vet, bowls of warm milk, and quite a few wash rags they survived. I'm looking at four dogs laying in different areas on my living room carpet too tired from running around and playing to stay awake.
@shirleytalbott3952 I feel your pain Shirley. We lost Storm 5 weeks ago, and I swear he is still here with us. I've lost my shadow and my loyal friend. We will get another rescue dog, but still coming to terms with our loss. I hope you find happiness with another pooch Shirley. Wishing you all the best from Brisbane Australia, Donna & Martin xx
@martinsteward7266 thank you so much, it means a lot. We're with the mil right now, so no fur baby until she is gone 😭. If it was up to me, we'd be sharing our love with a deserving baby sooner rather than later.
I lost a bonded pair of dogs early this year within three weeks of each other. I wasn't planning on rescuing another but then the picture of a cute little rescue from Louisiana caught my eye. I filled out an application and waited with no expectation of being approved. Luckily for both of us, I was approved. We've been together for almost ten months, and I couldn't be happier I was given this gift by my bonded pair. Thank you, Maude and Dorothy, for bringing Lulu into my life and for watching over us. 🥰🥲🐾🐾
Thank you to all my dogs past, they made me who I am today. Thank you to my two dogs present, 2 lovely rescues who keep me going. Merry Christmas to those waiting across the rainbow bridge, Merry Christmas to all dogs present, may they find also homes, like my 2 rascals.

As an ex army dog handler and now a dog handler in my civvy career this really hit home. I've been fortunate to have some amazing working dogs, all of them absolute diamonds!! Who me, 6ft 4", 17 stone toughy blubbing like a little girl? Never!! 😢
Still miss you Sam, its been 7 months. I think of you everyday. I wish for just one more with you. Some how though i need to move on, the grief is making me ill. I just miss you so much mate, you were my friend , i hope you knew how much i loved you. I know now you’re pain free. See you again one day ❤❤
My family's first dog was Tippy. Just a mut but she was with us for 15 years. She slept with my as in infant and never left my side. My step-father raised Labradors. Tippy was small but very much the Alpha female among them even in her old age. I miss you Tippy.
bawling now......such a impactful video, thank you for sharing the message....My Otto passed 5 years ago and I miss him every single day, one day I hope to adopt again
I can actually relate to this a lot, a few months ago, my parents decided they have to take my husky to the shelter because our house was too small and we were moving things around a lot, so around June my dad took him to the shelter, me and my older sister cried, my mom came to check on us, she knew it hurt, even she felt sad, and to this month we still miss him, its sad we don't get to spend Christmas with him...
@iisxmplyelii By putting him in a shelter? Did they even try to find him a good home? Maybe one with children? Did you ever follow up to find out what became of him?
@DavidLS1 we did not, but im not wrong, they were finding him a good home, and the people that were there make sure they get a good home, so dont call them bad parents for that, they try their best.
It was in the 1980s since I last had a dog. Sam, a Jack Russell terrier. Since I’ve been married, we’ve had cats. I love them both, cats and dogs. The loving nature of both dogs and cats makes me believe that they would not want us to endure a moment of unhappiness and that they would love if we rescued another dog as soon as possible, to give them the love they enjoyed with us themselves. Abandoned dogs who are feeling a loss of hope, are waiting for the love they deserve. Tell the new pooch about his/her big brother/sister. It makes the missing of them much easier to bear.
All my dogs have been rescues. I remember them all with love and tears for all the years of joy they gave me❤😢. At present I have Floki. He is 4 years old and may well be my last boydie as I am 75 now❤.
I love dogs, had them while i was young but in later life had cats, well i took on 3 when a dear neighbour passed away.. 😢.. had four of my own... i would of defo taken in resue dogs... ❤❤
Truly, truly, I would take on every animal out there that needed a home but people have made adopting a dog so expensive $150-$300 is just too much to adopt a dog or a cat… they can’t possibly cost that much but they charge hundreds to adopt from animal shelters anymore…
We lost our tomcat in 2023 and this year we got a new one. Hopefully our tomcat looks from above and sees how much joy the new one brings in our life. We will never forget him
We lost both Autumn & Rocky AKA Rock-N-Roll a few years back. BOTH rescues. We adopted another needy dog in their honor. Sadly 😢 we lost our rescue red & white cat Gimli to heart disease (the shelter lied about his health but we kept him anyway) 6 months ago.😞. He'd just turned 9. We had him only 3 1/2 years.💔 I would love ❤️ to adopt another in his memory but sadly, funds just don't allow.😭💔🤘
Just wanted you to know that you are not alone. My wife and two dogs were attacked by two visious large dogs loose in our neighbourhood. My beautiful little Carita was killed, my wife and other dog bitten. Carita was my doggie soul mate, and it has been the worst year in life. She was everything. Not just a dog, a family member. We are still grieving and trying to cope. I no longer ask God why, but instead say I'm grateful, as so many people can go through their entire life and not be able to love something so special and precious as my Carita. We will cope, I know, but it is hard. I know you will make it. God bless you.
I’ve just watched this. And I am in tears I lost my girl three years ago and Christmas has never been the same absolutely heartbroken. I wish I never watched this because I’m a mess. I understand about the video it’s called so much pain.😢😢😢😢😢
Powerful video, made my eyes leak. To my beloved Dixie, Snoopy, Clint, Sam, Wayne, Patches, Rocky, Duke, Stick, Boomer, wait for me. I'll see you again someday.
I am NOT linking this video for my sister to see!!!! Last time I saw her she had 7 dogs, from small foot size to barrel size. I'm in tears enough as it is. I bet that girl got her tears flowing by filming the scenes with the dog first, then filming the rest in sequence. If I were the director that's how I'd do it.
That girl wasn't acting, she was living it. Any of us who have lost a pet cried along with her because we relive losing a loved pet.
I now have four poorly trained, but reasonably well-behaved, rescue dogs licking the tears off my cheeks.
Im jealous My soul.mutt passed last xmas and im getting ready to adopt again as soon as I can get my butt to the shelter
