You just aren't going to get the same bang for your buck making guitars in Japan these days, so I would have liked to see them instead bring out a mid priced Korean (or Indonesian) line that was specced really well with some cool finishes, basically something to go up against the LTD 1000 series guitars.
Ya know Hunter, that guitar would be a great project for an art student to gussy up. Turn one loose on it with water colors or something. Hey, there you go - put a Japanese cherry blossom tree towards the back. Pink would look amazing on that primer gray.
There's a thing with an LTD that I bought where the saddle posts and to a lesser extent the bridge posts stubbornly float above the body of the guitar.
@@agufish Its all good man. Its all subjective in the end. I used to dislike Ibanez guitars in the past because I wasn't a fan of their designs. Now I adore them!
I think you got something wrong here. I bought my VGS guitar with Evertune bridge in 2012 - and it was a production guitar (relative cheep, too). That was nine years ago.
Not gonna lie, I feel the same about a lot of modern guitars. You have a few standouts, but for the most part, they feel pretty similar, and it stretches into the actual music, I think. I've started tuning to absolute fucking standard recently because it feels like everything I hear is in Drop Hades. I love low tunings - I've got a baritone 6, a baritone 7, and a baritone 8 in addition to my standard scale instruments. But I feel like I can't listen to a modern prog metal song without hearing every Periphery/TesseracT/Sikth/Meshuggah/Monuments trope in existence all strung together...
I own this guitar and it's a work horse. I do agree with the volume knob, but if you're buying a guitar for the color you're buying it for the wrong reason. You should buy guitars for what purpose it's going to serve you. Also the demo was fire 🔥
I like schecters, ltds, and I am a diehard Ibanez fanboy. However, all of the Jacksons/Charvels I have owned have the most comfortable neck profile/radius, in my experience.
I think the real reason why this guitar feels like an any other modern guitar from Ibanez for Schecter is simply because they are manufactured in the same factory in Korea or Indonesia.
Me personally I like the look. The sandblasted ones for me look terrible. It's just not a look I'm into. Over all glad to see you review this one. The 6 string has been one I've been interested in as I like the Jackson neck profile.
Jackson does not need to go full modern, just use the older shapes with the new features. Combine the 80’s/90’s shapes and colors with evertune and fishmans/emgs. This is too plain and boring, not on Jackson standards
I bought an ET7 not long ago because I've had an HT7 but wanted the evertune and a non 5k guitar to beat up live. My only complaint is the look lol I have plans to do something with it eventually, but I honestly don't care that much since I bought it for the features not the looks and to keep the feel of the HT7. The next one is gonna be a skervessen or Ormsby custom lol
I have an ‘87 Jackson San Dimas custom shop with some badass Ghost Hot Rod Flames on it as well as dual ESP George Lynch (Dokken) M-1’s with the Purple, Orange, and Yellow Lynch Burst and Yellow Bengal graphics on them and they’re easily some of the best sounding, looking, and playing guitars in my entire collection… …I just wanna know wtf that thing is in Hunter’s hands…
Nice Gibson you got in the back. What are the odds that you get up with Harley Benton about making Melody Maker style guitars? I want a Sg melody maker but can't justify 8-900 dollars for one, haha
Is anyone else looking for a midrange 7/8 string strat or is it just me? Ever since I've seen Javier from AAL play his 8 string strat from ESP I've always wanted one
Hi Hunter I know the digital stuff is your niche but would you ever consider doing demo segments with a mic'd amp as well? I know it's extra work but I feel like you get a lot more of the instruments character across that way. Either way, thanks for the awesome videos !
What I hate about guitars nowadays especially at the top-mid to Entry higher range $1000-$1600 is such a bad mix up of premium and lower end parts. Like Ibanez prestige with locking tuners, Premium woods and craftsmanship etc. but leave more to be desired with things like just average Dimarzio fusion edge pickups and Nickel frets instead of stainless steel at the price you’re paying. I really wanted to feel the premium Japanese craftsmanship but I feel at those prices, you can get so much more. Or Jackson with Evertune bridge, locking tuners and such but with a plastic nut and Nickel frets. For $1500 dollars. Made in Indonesia no less. So hard for me to settle for a guitar. Props to brands like Schecter with lines like their C-1 SLS Elite with things like Hipshot Bridge, Locking Tuners, Steel frets, Neck-Through design, Ernie Ball compensated nut etc. made in Korea all for around $1100ish dollars. And so easy to find used models for less at great condition. And lesser known brands like Jericho Guitars offering premium specs like those listed around $700-$1000 Blowing other brands out of the water bang for buck wise. We need more options like these. Just wanted to rant. Haha
NGL for a touring musician these things are godsent. Chuck it in the van, drive to the next gig and take it out right on stage without worries. Headstock on this looks too big compared to the body though, odd dimensions. Still, it sounds pretty kickass. Also, never thought I'd hear you play Clapton.
I own an older agile model in silverburst I bought randomly 2nd hand thats essentially just a 7 string tele. I think they were called Texans. The only real issue with it is getting upgraded parts for it that still fit its asthetic.
I wonder if they sent the blue one, you’d think it was less boring. Some of these old white guy product managers need to roll the dice on evertune a little more, and not use all the safe/boring/cheap colors. I kinda feel like the lack of color options helps keep their cost down and compensates for the cost of the bridge.
It's heavier that a 6 string because it has a wider neck with a longer scale. The Evertune as an extra saddle and pickups are wider and an extra tuner.
Not gonna lie, beginning of the year I had 4 Aristides guitars but sold them all since I kinda got bored of them mainly due to tone. That's after years of saving going from similar modern guitars like Schecter KMs/Kiesel/Mayones/etc. Now I have a Gibson les paul slash, PRS Dustie Waring, and an ESP Horizon and Eclipse and I'm more fond of them. I wish I Kept my Mayones though, that had something cool going on with it too.
I will say this- for a person with big hands, Jacksons are just amazing. I have as many guitars as you do, and my Jacksons are the most comfortable to play. By comparison, I have a SGJ, and that neck is just awkward for me to play on (it was a gift )
It's weird, I recently got a JS Floyd equipped model and felt kind of the same. It was boring, just some minimal specs, terrible pickups, terrible quilt top, etc. Just didn't feel like it competed with Schecter or even Harley Benton
Underdog. Will probably have a following. EC on a 7 w/Et; scherzo. Swamped by Cashified, Onestring, and Custom Casters, Jackson dependably fine. Great show, thanks.
I love Jackson's, I got a DK2 Dinky for my first guitar and would like to have a soloist as my "last", but one of the things it has to have is stainless steels, and it's very hard to see a Jackson with them, which is a god dammed shame, specially with the Wildcard series that they had, gorgeous looking thing.
wow man really nice work on the little demo there sounds like you but newer/better love it, ON A BIGGER NOTE why is there a marker on the 1st fret lmao
When alot of your line up is flashy colours and cool finishes, and have been doing them since the 80's, "primer gray" is a stand out colour and something different. Jackson's identity is "awesome."
This is the best guitar ive ever had, never cared about color or look really, ticked all the boxes for me. Soundwise it is awesome, i cant say that i dont miss alpha&omega i had in ibanez, but ive always been ibanez player, wanted similar feel how it feels in hands, and without all the ibanez’s production minuses like perfect intonation across whole board. I set this one up in about one hour and i never had need to anything to it anymore, while it has been carried around changed strings etc. Change strings and no tuning or intonating needed. Like wtf, i needed this years ago. Only thing is here in Norway it was difficult to find a string set tensiom wise that works well on all strings for evertune and the one that worked for drop A is 9.5-64.
Jackson has been around for a long time when I was like 12 charvel was the must have shred guitar but. A lot of people get Jackson's (I had a kramer) even my dad a 70s 80 rock player got a higher end cracked bone active charvel n he was a gibson player. I recently got a charvel desolation DC 2 St I re shaped the neck and its one if my go to guitars.
I think the 12”-16” compound radius fretboard is a Jackson/Charvel thing so maybe it’s got that going for it. Maybe with the aesthetic thrills out of the way it’s just a riff machine. Or you can sticker bomb it. Lol
We definitely need more color selection! Especially on midrange priced guitars. Gloss black & white has been done to death! & I'M no fan of tobacco burst🤮! They need to skiddle up the paint pallet!
No strong feelings about the guitar itself, looks like an ok instrument that I will get in a nice promo deal BUT I like seeing u express honest feelings about a gear. That is a rare thing I this TH-cam bubble
Jackson is a Rock/Metal brand mostly. I had a DK2 in the 90s and it was a metal machine. The neck was amazing. Sure I had to swap the humbuckers for Seymour But otherwise it was perfect. My dream guitars are a soloist or a Rhods V. My Hannemenn and Spitz influences there.
I dig the look of this guitar for a certain type of look that goes with it, but they should be experimenting with new other shapes that s-shape, I like the evertune LTD t-shape from a few years back... I think it was in Tiger's Eye Burst or smth like that.
I have the DK modern ash ht6 in the sandblasted red and black and I love it. I'm going to be in the market for an evertune 7 soon and thank you for this review talking me out of doing this. I didn't like the looks of it but figured if it was like my current DK modern it would be worth it for the lack of looks, but I will probably get the LTD MH1007 Evertune instead.

You just aren't going to get the same bang for your buck making guitars in Japan these days, so I would have liked to see them instead bring out a mid priced Korean (or Indonesian) line that was specced really well with some cool finishes, basically something to go up against the LTD 1000 series guitars.
Embodied the entire soul of recording guitarists at 5:25 haha
Bruh, whatever you are running for your clean channel sounds REALLY good through those pickups. Beautiful.
Ya know Hunter, that guitar would be a great project for an art student to gussy up. Turn one loose on it with water colors or something. Hey, there you go - put a Japanese cherry blossom tree towards the back. Pink would look amazing on that primer gray.
You do realize you’re saying gray and black is a bad color scheme while you’re wearing a gray and black t-shirt?
Cool video otherwise.
Looks like an unfinished project that the builder lost interest in. Who'd have thunk Jackson was Good-nougher's
Love the honesty!!! Not cool when youtubers say bad stuff is good. I trust you to tell us the truth, Hunter!
There's a thing with an LTD that I bought where the saddle posts and to a lesser extent the bridge posts stubbornly float above the body of the guitar.
This particular model seems quite popular over the past year, so I'm not sure where Jackson got it "wrong" lol.
Ya I was very wrong on this one, it seems. it pops up a lot and I am eating my own words on a daily basis lol.
@@agufish Its all good man. Its all subjective in the end. I used to dislike Ibanez guitars in the past because I wasn't a fan of their designs. Now I adore them!
Tears In Heaven? Somebody's a Clapton fan. I'm not complaining. I am too.
"Got me a metal 7 string in drop a. Time for some tears in heaven."
I think you got something wrong here. I bought my VGS guitar with Evertune bridge in 2012 - and it was a production guitar (relative cheep, too). That was nine years ago.
That's all your opinion, Mike stringer from spiritbox and myself love these guitars
This❤
Well just give it to me... I would in fact love this thing
Have you seen the evertune multiscale by ormsby? They look like fun
I own this guitar and it's a work horse. I do agree with the volume knob, but if you're buying a guitar for the color you're buying it for the wrong reason. You should buy guitars for what purpose it's going to serve you. Also the demo was fire 🔥
Killer track as per usual. You and Stay Metal Ray always have the best Demo Tracks!
I like schecters, ltds, and I am a diehard Ibanez fanboy. However, all of the Jacksons/Charvels I have owned have the most comfortable neck profile/radius, in my experience.
I think the real reason why this guitar feels like an any other modern guitar from Ibanez for Schecter is simply because they are manufactured in the same factory in Korea or Indonesia.
couldn't agree more
Me personally I like the look.
I agree 100 percent
Awesome job on the finger picking in this demo Hunter !! Not sure if I seen you doing so before ... but definately noticed it here !!
I like the primer gray. You can do whatever custom paint job you want over it.
I have an ‘87 Jackson San Dimas custom shop with some badass Ghost Hot Rod Flames on it as well as dual ESP George Lynch (Dokken) M-1’s with the Purple, Orange, and Yellow Lynch Burst and Yellow Bengal graphics on them and they’re easily some of the best sounding, looking, and playing guitars in my entire collection…
…I just wanna know wtf that thing is in Hunter’s hands…
Nice Gibson you got in the back. What are the odds that you get up with Harley Benton about making Melody Maker style guitars? I want a Sg melody maker but can't justify 8-900 dollars for one, haha
Is anyone else looking for a midrange 7/8 string strat or is it just me? Ever since I've seen Javier from AAL play his 8 string strat from ESP I've always wanted one
I'm so used to hearing fishman moderns or emgs...im definitely going to look into the classic fishmans,Fish-Man!!!🤘😜👍
Hi Hunter I know the digital stuff is your niche but would you ever consider doing demo segments with a mic'd amp as well?
I mean, I want a friggin’ 7 string Tele with single coils. I think the low B with that distinctive Tele cutting bridge pickup tone would sound sick
For sure
This is a fantastic idea.
I have learned that once you get a guitar made for you, every guitar becomes boring.
I've had issues with Jackson QC and customer services in the past but seeing those shots of it I'm loving the grey
I'm with you, especially the dk pro modern these 7 string necks feel so damn nice
It's weird, I recently got a JS Floyd equipped model and felt kind of the same. It was boring, just some minimal specs, terrible pickups, terrible quilt top, etc. Just didn't feel like it competed with Schecter or even Harley Benton
I need a 6 and 7 string Jackson Warrior with an evertune! If they can give me that, then my life will be complete!
Underdog. Will probably have a following. EC on a 7 w/Et; scherzo. Swamped by
Cashified, Onestring, and Custom Casters, Jackson dependably fine. Great show, thanks.
Does the dog hear a difference with the evertune?
I love Jackson's, I got a DK2 Dinky for my first guitar and would like to have a soloist as my "last", but one of the things it has to have is stainless steels, and it's very hard to see a Jackson with them, which is a god dammed shame, specially with the Wildcard series that they had, gorgeous looking thing.
Thanks for being honest! We need those details.
The primer gray is sweet. Some people don't want to look like a cartoon from an '80s hair metal orgy while they're playing.
Exciting to see more production models with Evertune bridges. Now I just have to try one out. XD
What's the discord link?
I'm a simple man. I hear tears in heaven I like the content!
wow man really nice work on the little demo there sounds like you but newer/better love it, ON A BIGGER NOTE why is there a marker on the 1st fret lmao
Clapton on a 7 string… now I’ve seen it all
When alot of your line up is flashy colours and cool finishes, and have been doing them since the 80's, "primer gray" is a stand out colour and something different.
Jackson's identity is "awesome."
It's a recycled EVH color just like the Jackson bursts are showing up on the EVH models.
Agree. Also this particular model feels and sounds awesome. It's just a bit overpriced.
Fix the color and I'm onboard :) but yeah I would take the banshee over this any day.
3 vids behind. Catching up. Onto the next 🤘
I mean you could send that beauty to me! I would gladly cherish it!
8:40 System Of A Down - Aerials
Finally some SOAD love.
I agree completely. Jackson got so much right with this, and completely dropped the ball at the same time.
