My father LOVED this film and Enrique was so right in saying that the film was becoming a rite of passage because in our family it was. My Dad died on July 4th this year and we always would stop everything to watch this film when I visited he and my Mom.

Revisiting this a few months after I first watched it, Enrique talking about how Montana was vegetarian because he didn’t want to let Big Al control his food is such a testament to the care, thought, and respect that the man puts into his craft.
He's also in a really good movie called El Norte.
I saw EnriqueCastillo in ZootSuit on the stage. He played Henry Reyna when Daniel Valdez was filming The China Syndrom.

Montana thinking about his daughter before his death is a departure from an earlier version of the script. In this version Montana uses his last breathes trying to spell out “Miklo”; he gets as far as “ M-I “ before he passes away.

I met this guy when I was 16. I asked him to autograph my hat. And he said no. But the other actor who plays smoky was there to. He was way more chill than Enrique. Gary Cervantes was cool guy.
