    Baladi dog is making up for lost time and enjoying her new relaxing life with two doting Mara friends.
    Not too long ago Baladi was living in Cairo, Egypt and suffering abuse on the streets while her littermates and family were slowly killed. Her torment ended when a kind-hearted person stepped in and saved her when she was struck down in the street by a car and left for dead. She eventually left Egypt and came to America to being a new life.
    To listen to her entire story, see the video blow:

    More about Patagonian Maras:
    Maras mate for life! It's important they stay with each other. These two; although I just got them are already very bonded with each other very much.
    They're very smart.
    They make look like rabbits, but they don't act anything like them.
    Their adult weight is around 20-35 pounds and they're body length is about 30 inches!
    They are herbivorous and should have a varied diet.
    They are in the genus of the cavy family, but they are the only representative of the Dolichotinae subfamily.
    They are a LARGE rodent, similar to a Capybara.
    They are prey animals to foxes and raptors mainly in the wild. Humans also kill them to use their skin for rugs and blankets.
    See the Maras hop around the house:

    It's cool and awe-inspiring when animals of many different species (I'm including us Humans too) can live in the same household and benefit one another. :-) :-) :-) Keep up the great work!

  • @camelsandfriends

    +chumppi She was used to arabic. Even the man that brought her to America spoke it to her. I know very little arabic. I just started talking to her in english and she doesn't seem to mind. I wonder though if she still "thinks" in arabic. It's more about the way you say words though, rather than what you say. She caught on very easily. But she isn't trained at all to do many of the commands that a person usually teaches their dog.

    If you got Baladi the same time like Lorne why did never show us some videos of him? I'm just curious, because he is as amazing as Lorne :D :D

    • @camelsandfriends
      @camelsandfriends  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I did get Baladi around the same time I got Lorne, but unlike Lorne, I didn't intend on adopting Baladi. Originally, I was just going to train her and get her adjusted to living with people and then put her up for adoption. Before I found her her new home I was going to make a video to tell her story, because I think it should be told, but... we ended up really bonding and it very much seemed like this was the ideal place for her. I did take video of her with Lorne when Lorne was very young. I'll have to upload some of the video from several months ago in the near future. It's hard to believe how big Lorne is now at only six months.
