  • Quick Look at New Zealands opening try vs USA in the Hong Kong Sevens Final.
I'm coaching a lot of sevens at the moment and enjoying it, so it's nice to dive into some Video analysis of one of the Top Teams in the world.
This walk through was done for the team I coach, so it's a little less scripted and more what I'm seeing in realtime.

Miller is my favourite Black Ferns 7 player. Allround ability and has real game. Nice work.

I love the Black Ferns, hate seeing them in white. I am impressed by Jorja, so deceptive, she seems like a slow strong forward doing the hard yards in the centre, a huge defensive effort, always being present or near, such good eyes and reading of the game.
And then she sees a slight chance, backs herself and is off to score.
She doesn't have Portia's speed, Stacey's smile or Michaela's fierce grit fast pumping legs, Jorja doesn't look fast but she sure covers the ground quickly when she wants to.
What a great team, so many stars and a joy to watch!

yeah, she's is not a show piece big stepper, but she does loads of work and causes damage with her running lines and strength - you see the short line she runs off Blyde and doesn't take the pass - it totally changes the US defenders focus - it's those things that make her important.

Here strength is her "Game IQ" it is leaps and bounds ahead of most of the players. And those hips seem to almost defy gravity and enables her to slide between defenders like it is poetry in motion.

As I heard one commentator say she runs unusual angles..even against a std defence line….more like sixty odd degrees not 45..strong core from highland dancing..
