Jeffery games Yt that was only in the movies. In the mythology, odin gave it to thor because the handle was too short. So basically, it wasnt good enough for odin, so he regifted it to his son. 😂

I actually worked with the guys that make the hammer for Disney Parks!!
The way they do the handle is actually a bunch of smaller parts that fit together.
The raised areas on the handle and what you used as a wooden dowel both fit together like Lego pieces
