She seems lovely but social workers from non-profits and the government are probably doing the best they can, they just don't have the resources available to hand out, as in housing to go to. But at the root people need to demand the government do something and that will cost money. People are not willing to pay more taxes to support it.
It's not all the government we did this to ourselves about not thinking about the future. I have one friend who asked me what I was going to do with the money I had been saving if I was saving it so that when I died my kids would get it I said no you never know what the future might hold. I have another friend her income is twice mine never had to pay for her house was given to her by her parents same as a car could not understand how I could save money even with a house payment and car payment not saying everyone's income but $10 here $20 anything towards a savings it all adds up. I don't know this whole ladies life history so I can't say why she's not in a better situation but it sounds like she needs to move and get into a state that has a cheaper cost of living. I feel for her, my mom is 77 and has been living with me because she cannot get a senior citizen apt in Florida. All my mom's stuff is in storage. It is outrageous the prices of apts. It really is not fair. The depolulation agenda. Very sad.

The elderly and disabled homeless situation in this country is just shameful in this wealthy country. I have advocated for a number of people in this situation in our community and the resources are just not there or are shamefully slow, exacerbating their health conditions. The bureaucracy is just not structured to act quickly. This woman's story is heartbreaking.

Rows of empty flats/ units. Investors do that there also. Margaret Thatcher was determined to get rid of " council houses" as subsidized housing is called over there. And the homeless situation over there is as bad as America's. The same attitudes, after Thatcherism prevail there, just as Reagan's do here. Lots of affordable housing was destroyed, so that commercial buildings would replace them instead. Over 40 years ago this started, is it any wonder renting is so hard !

I'm on social security and homeless also. Living in a vehicle. You can't even get a room to share on social security. The elderly and the disabled are being ignored. The most dramatic homeless individuals catch the attention of the media and this feeds the narrative that all homeless people are addicts and this over shadows groups who are really vulnerable and in need of help.
Felisa has a determination and a work ethic that would be admirable in a twenty something, A plea for just a little help and support so that she can get her life back on track surely that isn't too much to ask for. Considering she has been contributing to society throughout her life. Due to a family member losing employment she has found herself at 70+ years of age homeless, She is by no means lost but this is where society, non-profits and government should step up and support her so that this episode in her life can be overcome with as smaller impact on her health as possible. Felisa has a lot to offer with her life experience and her positive outlook. This potential should be harnessed which would be good not only for her but also for that of society. After watching many videos of invisible people a person could become hardened watching this. I could be like oh they were dealt a bad hand in life and go on about my day. I could watch another video and be like oh look at those young kids they need to get it together and get a job and a life. When I watch this my heart hurts for young men, older people, everyone I’ve seen on this show. How can we as a society be ok with knowing people are cold, sick, suffering, lost. These people are someone’s child, someone’s brother or sister or parent. This is tragic and it’s not ok that we let this continue and turn a blind eye, it’s just not ok, theses are people not trash, not throw aways, they deserve shelter, food, medicine our love and most of all they deserve respect.
Sad but true. We have become desensitized to issues like homelessness. Something that has the ability to impact us all. It's not a big deal until we ourselves are in situations like these. What can be done to change this? How can we change how we look at homelessness?

Yes, many people have given up on L.A., as it's been so poorly run for decades. I can remember when you could be lower middle-class and live fairly well. It's that, if folks would hire older workers. They hire younger workers to ensure they'll be around a while, but like she said, older workers have the skills. Just because she's over 70 doesn't mean she won't be around for a while. My great granddad died one month before his 97th birthday. And again, this lady wants to work. People will be around for a while. You need skilled workers, not just young workers. You say you're looking for skilled labor, but you only hire the youngest of the young, who don't know math and social studies from life and responsibility, just to make sure they'll be around a while, and the young ones are trying to get jobs in their career goals. Please hire whoever is available. This lady is able bodied. Please hire whoever is available. Not just those who are young, or those who look the part, or those who sound good. Including the places who are supposedly there to help (non-profits). If they were really there to help, they, themselves, would hire the very people they're claiming to try to help. Hiring those you're there to help is as help as it gets. Even if you have to put your company's address down as their address in order to hire them. Hiring them would help tremendously. You don't want to help by giving them spare change, but you don't want to hire them, and then you say it's their fault that you won't hire them............That's not the way to go. And, Mark has said a few times that it costs more to pay for homelessness than to house the homeless. They would be able to house themselves if someone would just go ahead and hire them. Not to blame employers, either, but that's the way it works. You can only house yourself if you're hired somewhere. But, a tip for everyone who is not being hired, no matter your age. If you could find something that you can do on your own, do that. If you can sew, if you can clean, if you can do landscaping, if you can write books, if you can do photography, if you can babysit, if you can do hair, if you can buy rental property, if you can give piano lessons, if you can sing and dance and play an instrument with a box on the ground, even if you can live stream or post merchandise on Teespring, if you're not being hired anywhere, and you can do something on your own, try that. And, don't forget to collect coins that you find on the ground. Any bank will give you coin wrappers, whether you have an account with them or not.

As I sit here and read some of these comments, I read were some people live out there Van's and love it, that may be all fine for you. When you have health issue's living out of your van or car could be detrimental especially when it comes to storing certain meds such as insulin & ETC so what works for you may not work for the next person. It's not legal to stay overnight, and I wouldn't advertise the set- up. But it would improve things somewhat, until a place becomes available.
My diabetic friend had a stroke, became homeless, and lived in his car which made his health so much worse. No proper storage for insulin. Started a downward spiral leading to 9 strokes, more homelessness, and an early death.

God bless this woman. I have worked for fortune 500 companies my entire working life, born and raised in Los Angeles and recently retired. My retirement income is one quarter of what an apartment costs in Los Angeles right now.

I feel so sad that this beautiful woman is living in her vehicle at 70 with health issue's. I am 50 and disabled, and wish that I could work to. I feel blessed by the Lord, that when I got sick, I was able to pay my house off from a small settlement from work when I was injured and needed several surgeries, but the last one they didn't want to pay the bill. My place is nothing fancy at all, but on disability, I would probably be homeless because the housing where I live, the rent has tripled in the last ten year's. When I was much younger, I had awhile where I got my food from dumpsters where good food was thrown out. I have a friend who is very sick in a hospital bed that I let live with me rent free, but she buys her own food. My friend would probably be homeless if I didn't help her. I had her son live here for two year's back in 2016, and I got him a car, and gave him time to save money and get an apartment. He had lost a job, and it took him a little time to find a job above minimum wage. I give money to a homeless man who is elderly and uses a walker at time's to get to his place that he has a sign asking for help. I worried when it got real cold awhile back because I had not seen him, but he found shelter for that bitter cold, but is now outside again. When he sees me he gives such a warm smile because the Lord provided me with the means to help him, as well as helping me. When you see the skin of someone who has been homeless for a long time it shows, because it's thickened and the color is different from being in the always changing weather. I pray for all those living outside homeless, it breaks my heart. I urge people to have a little cash on hand, so that if you see a homeless person, that you can help them. One man I talked to mentioned that many people are using credit or debit card's because of this plandemic, which is making it harder for the homeless. Great job Mark, trying to help change thing's. The problem is that they do not want to help the homeless. Utah or Colorado, are closing shelters to try and get the homeless to leave. I know it's one of these states, just have memory issue's. If you think critically about what is going on, you will realise that they are trying to destroy this country, because to have a world leader, America can't be a super power. I'm not wanting to see what the next few year's brings, but I dreamed of some bad thing's that have already happened. I know two cases of people who bought a camper and parked it in a good-sized rental shop/garage space (fits the camper plus a decent amount of storage space around it) for $200/month. Some of these shops have bathrooms. They discreetly live there while they get back on their feet. If you find a decent landlord who needs the spot rented, they’ll look the other way. Something to consider.

The Pentagon lost( supposedly) $21 trillion dollars, which could cure national homelessness overnight. I live in Boston Ma. and it’s like paying for a apartment in Malibu!! I’m not going to relocate and leave my adult children We r so close to our kids... All these high priced condos r going up in my city with studios starting at 2400.00!!!! And most of them sit empty!!!!

Investors do keep the buildings empty, because they can then declare them as a tax write-off, if they are " on the market, but not yet rented. " This happens in the UK too, I've read. Rows of empty flats/ units. Investors do that there also. Margaret Thatcher was determined to get rid of " council houses" as subsidized housing is called over there. And the homeless situation over there is as bad as America's. The same attitudes, after Thatcherism prevail there, just as Reagan's do here. Lots of affordable housing was destroyed, so that commercial buildings would replace them instead. Over 40 years ago this started, is it any wonder renting is so hard !
International investors are buying them up and just sitting on them; they don't want the hassle of renting them out, they are just investments in the relatively more stable housing market. This is also driving up prices because it has depleted the pool of housing that we should have. This is happening all over the country.

I'm on social security and homeless also. Living in a vehicle. You can't even get a room to share on social security. The elderly and the disabled are being ignored. The most dramatic homeless individuals catch the attention of the media and this feeds the narrative that all homeless people are addicts and this over shadows groups who are really vulnerable and in need of help.

Felisa has a determination and a work ethic that would be admirable in a twenty something, A plea for just a little help and support so that she can get her life back on track surely that isn't too much to ask for. Considering she has been contributing to society throughout her life. Due to a family member losing employment she has found herself at 70+ years of age homeless, She is by no means lost but this is where society, non-profits and government should step up and support her so that this episode in her life can be overcome with as smaller impact on her health as possible. Felisa has a lot to offer with her life experience and her positive outlook. This potential should be harnessed which would be good not only for her but also for that of society. The strength and greatness of a country can be measured by how we care and respect our elders in society. Her wishes are humble and her desire to contribute is great. After watching many videos of invisible people a person could become hardened watching this. I could be like oh they were dealt a bad hand in life and go on about my day. I could watch another video and be like oh look at those young kids they need to get it together and get a job and a life. When I watch this my heart hurts for young men, older people, everyone I’ve seen on this show. How can we as a society be ok with knowing people are cold, sick, suffering, lost. These people are someone’s child, someone’s brother or sister or parent. This is tragic and it’s not ok that we let this continue and turn a blind eye, it’s just not ok, theses are people not trash, not throw aways, they deserve shelter, food, medicine our love and most of all they deserve respect.
Sad but true. We have become desensitized to issues like homelessness. Something that has the ability to impact us all. It's not a big deal until we ourselves are in situations like these. What can be done to change this? How can we change how we look at homelessness?
I am nobody’s sister, daughter, wife, etc. I have no one. I have been homeless almost 10.months. If I have no relationships, do I not matter? I hope I still get counted.

Yes, many people have given up on L.A., as it's been so poorly run for decades. I can remember when you could be lower middle-class and live fairly well. I hate to admit it, but my home as I knew it, is long gone. I hope this woman can apply for and get affordable housing. Everyone, notice, she said she wants to work. Please don't do the typical judgment of "She's lazy." It's that, if folks would hire older workers. They hire younger workers to ensure they'll be around a while, but like she said, older workers have the skills. Just because she's over 70 doesn't mean she won't be around for a while. My great granddad died one month before his 97th birthday. And again, this lady wants to work. People will be around for a while. You need skilled workers, not just young workers. You say you're looking for skilled labor, but you only hire the youngest of the young, who don't know math and social studies from life and responsibility, just to make sure they'll be around a while, and the young ones are trying to get jobs in their career goals. Please hire whoever is available. This lady is able bodied. Please hire whoever is available. Not just those who are young, or those who look the part, or those who sound good. Including the places who are supposedly there to help (non-profits). If they were really there to help, they, themselves, would hire the very people they're claiming to try to help. Hiring those you're there to help is as help as it gets. Even if you have to put your company's address down as their address in order to hire them. Hiring them would help tremendously. You don't want to help by giving them spare change, but you don't want to hire them, and then you say it's their fault that you won't hire them............That's not the way to go. And, Mark has said a few times that it costs more to pay for homelessness than to house the homeless. They would be able to house themselves if someone would just go ahead and hire them. Not to blame employers, either, but that's the way it works. You can only house yourself if you're hired somewhere.
But, a tip for everyone who is not being hired, no matter your age. If you could find something that you can do on your own, do that. If you can sew, if you can clean, if you can do landscaping, if you can write books, if you can do photography, if you can babysit, if you can do hair, if you can buy rental property, if you can give piano lessons, if you can sing and dance and play an instrument with a box on the ground, even if you can live stream or post merchandise on Teespring, if you're not being hired anywhere, and you can do something on your own, try that. And, don't forget to collect coins that you find on the ground. Any bank will give you coin wrappers, whether you have an account with them or not.
Let’s fix it. It’s way out of control.

She’s spot on with many of her points , in hiring college grads in social work . Building new age projects wich are part of a bigger circle of profit ; builders, developers , and many times trap young families without a savings ability for a home. Her story is what I’ve known for years.

As I sit here and read some of these comments, I read were some people live out there Van's and love it, that may be all fine for you. When you have health issue's living out of your van or car could be detrimental especially when it comes to storing certain meds such as insulin & ETC so what works for you may not work for the next person. Now DON'T get me wrong living out of a Van could definitely be a temporary thing I would do if need be.⚘

@@Yasmine91646 I hope Felisa can get a storage unit ,with electricity and outlets, so she can plug in a small fridge, charge her phone,etc. It would help to be able to have a place with a table and chairs to be in during the day. It's not legal to stay overnight, and I wouldn't advertise the set- up. But it would improve things somewhat, until a place becomes available.
My diabetic friend had a stroke, became homeless, and lived in his car which made his health so much worse. No proper storage for insulin. Started a downward spiral leading to 9 strokes, more homelessness, and an early death.

By the grace of god go me. I fear, unemployment, aging. In just a few yrs I will be out of a job due to age and health issues. I will not be able to afford even moderate rent and survive. I worry all the time. Bless everyone on the streets bless the needy.

I feel so sad that this beautiful woman is living in her vehicle at 70 with health issue's. I am 50 and disabled, and wish that I could work to. I feel blessed by the Lord, that when I got sick, I was able to pay my house off from a small settlement from work when I was injured and needed several surgeries, but the last one they didn't want to pay the bill. My place is nothing fancy at all, but on disability, I would probably be homeless because the housing where I live, the rent has tripled in the last ten year's. When I was much younger, I had awhile where I got my food from dumpsters where good food was thrown out. I have a friend who is very sick in a hospital bed that I let live with me rent free, but she buys her own food. My friend would probably be homeless if I didn't help her. I had her son live here for two year's back in 2016, and I got him a car, and gave him time to save money and get an apartment. He had lost a job, and it took him a little time to find a job above minimum wage. I give money to a homeless man who is elderly and uses a walker at time's to get to his place that he has a sign asking for help. I worried when it got real cold awhile back because I had not seen him, but he found shelter for that bitter cold, but is now outside again. When he sees me he gives such a warm smile because the Lord provided me with the means to help him, as well as helping me. When you see the skin of someone who has been homeless for a long time it shows, because it's thickened and the color is different from being in the always changing weather. I pray for all those living outside homeless, it breaks my heart. I urge people to have a little cash on hand, so that if you see a homeless person, that you can help them. One man I talked to mentioned that many people are using credit or debit card's because of this plandemic, which is making it harder for the homeless. Great job Mark, trying to help change thing's. The problem is that they do not want to help the homeless. Utah or Colorado, are closing shelters to try and get the homeless to leave. I know it's one of these states, just have memory issue's. If you think critically about what is going on, you will realise that they are trying to destroy this country, because to have a world leader, America can't be a super power. I'm not wanting to see what the next few year's brings, but I dreamed of some bad thing's that have already happened. Lord willing we will have time, and people will not be tricked into race/gender war's to crumble the nation. God bless everyone, and much love.

I know two cases of people who bought a camper and parked it in a good-sized rental shop/garage space (fits the camper plus a decent amount of storage space around it) for $200/month. Some of these shops have bathrooms. They discreetly live there while they get back on their feet. If you find a decent landlord who needs the spot rented, they’ll look the other way. Something to consider.

There are a lot of older people on SSI that can't afford rent. There are people teaching others how to live and travel in a vehicle for affordable cost. Home Alliance on wheels/Bob wells has a lot of information. It's awful that people can't afford to live. 😔
