    this is what happens when people don’t have opportunities, this man is very decent, with a good work ethic, i’m sure given the chance he’d make a great contractor, but we’ll never know because he didn’t get some stupid paperwork before his mom died when he was still very young and now he’s stuck on the streets hoping for a miracle and society is completely missing out on his gifts.

      This is what capitalism does in reality, that politicians will project as something happening under a socialist system. If the *people* themselves decide on the issue on housing, housing becomes a *right* and not a privilege. This man (and any other homeless person) deserves a home to sleep at night, an education if they wish to get one, a job if education isn't right for them or healthcare for all if they are unable to either study or work.
      I would forego my chances of becoming a multi-millionaire, let alone a multi-billionaire like those who control the world if it meant every person was allowed these fundamental freedoms in order to pursue happiness and self-realization. I want everyone to have the freedom to work and power to have an equal democratic voice within that workplace, as such we could make our society truly democratic rather than the pitiful excuse for the word we currently "enjoy".

      I have provided some information for Mark to pass on to Danial to help give him some options to apply for copies of his vital records. However virtually all options require a mailing address so Danial will need to work with someone/some business to provide him a location to receive mail or alternatively he will need to purchase a PO Box. Hopefully his GoFundMe can help out with securing funds for these + the cost of applications.

      One of the problems with getting ID is that there are criminals who steal your ID while you sleep. My brother is homeless and as he slept other people would steal his ID, his cell phone, his food stamps. That is one of the problems with being homeless today.

    • @imsnowedn
      @imsnowedn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@CydnotCharrise1 ok but without it you will continue to be homeless, so really what's the choice? probably good to find a safe place to secure it. with a friend or in a locked stored place nearby. Really refusing to get it isn't a choice, so maybe rent a small storage box in a Private Mail Center. Probably goes without saying, but rather than complain you could have guarded your brother's ID for him.

    Articulate, Intelligent, Patriotic and Community minded Daniel displays all these qualities and finds himself being moved on from his unhoused location to another space regularly and for what appears to be no benefit to himself or the local housed community. Daniel wants only to work and get his life back on track but because of a lack of identity documents he is penalised this loss of opportunity means both he and society as a whole does not benefit from the potential this man clearly possesses. About time government and local agencies stop wasting time disrupting and criminalising the unhoused residents and used their budget on schemes that produce results which empower homeless folk to steer themselves toward a settled productive life.

    Every day I realize more how classist the government is. It's almost like it's designed to keep the poor poor, and try and strip them of their lives and resources until they're powerless so the rich can live in cities with only other rich people. So frustrating and heartbreaking and unjust.

      @@brianbrian5842 All nations have class societies, but America is really the modern home for capitalism in its most advanced form - imperialism. I saw a picture today of Bezos' new superyacht, as big as some blocks actual human beings in slums around the world live in, on top of his already insane mansion and personal space-faring corporation. Surely they're still massively flaunting their wealth, the issue is rather that the bourgeoisie also literally own almost all media where people get their spoon-fed opinions about capitalism and how it's supposedly connected to the very fiber of their nation and individual being.

      Yep there reason for the wealth is due to consumerism and his control of the market. Many other parts of the developing world people can at least work and afford rent. These days in the United States many are just scrapping to get by. These stories of life on the street shows how hard it is for people to get the resources needed for a better life.

Capitalism causes homelessness, last time I checked the American duopoly consists of two right-wing parties in heavy favor of capitalism-imperialism; as in support of bailing out banks, investment firms and large corporations during economic crises using publicly raised funds, launching endless wars to profit defense contractors, energy and mineral corporations as well as destabilizing sovereign nations, and building the largest surveillance apparatus the world has ever seen. Do you really believe this would happen if Americans decided on issues democratically?
      Do you think homelessness, widespread poverty, medical bankruptcies, poisoned water supplies and educational debt would exist if the people whose communities the policies effect themselves had the economical-political power to change it? Surely the regular working class American does not hold such contempt for their fellow person that he wishes to rob him of the most minimal of dignity and opportunity to pursue happiness?

      I watch a video here on YT & the people had no choice but stand to the side as big scraper & dump trucks just dug into & scraped up their tents, community eating & cooking area. Some man that distrubited food & etc actually ended up living in the camp too & had a bus, he'd take them for appts & try to find housing. Somewhere up North. Heartwrenching to watch& see them let their chickens out of the pens when equipment rolled in. His permits had been extended several times. THE city & town frowned on the camp & finally won to close it down.

      @3VIANEJI As a lifelong Californian and Los Angeles County resident, I can say with confidence that first, the answer is affordable housing for both the working classes and the homeless people. There's been a permanent housing shortage for 40 years. Rents have been too high ever since then, as wages haven't kept up with the cost of tent and other essentials. The there's the mental patients, who need good facilities, and addicts needing rehabilitation that works. Last the felons who won't stop with the violent behavior must go back to jail. Good jobs and manufacturing have to return from overseas. There you go. The money is there for all this, but officials and agencies have been stealing the funds for decades. I hope Sheriff Villanueva can stop them this time.

    I’m from the UK we have homelessness here but in the US it’s by far worse. It rained earlier after a few sunny days, I was in my kitchen and said out loud to myself I feel so sorry for the homeless when it’s like this. This is very hostile for these people to do these sweeps, the poor people are trying to make the best of what they have and it’s taken away so abruptly. This man is lovely and most homeless people haven’t asked to be in situation. I wish the human race had more empathy.

The police go round at 5-6 am to find any homeless folk, advice them there is a room waiting for them at a shelter and basically get to the shelter by 6pm and its theirs. They give them the rough sleepers team mobile number if they get stuck or get their mobile number to give to the team to check in on them.

    Note to Self;
    When trying to gain empathy, sympathy, human compassion, charity from others, maybe, just perhaps I should tell people how it is to be out in the rain, in the heat, in the cold, not having food or even enough to eat, access to medications, how I would absolutely love if somebody could or would offer me a job, a place to keep my self clean to go to that job, how I can't keep my cloths clean, how frightened I am, how frightened that I may end up with some kind of illness or disease living out on the streets, how I am frightened about dangerous people out on the streets, or how I may need empathy, compassion, charity to help me with a mental issue, alcohol issue, or drug addiction issue that keeps me from being a productive member of society, or how I don't have any of those issues, but I just need a chance, I just want and need a hand up in life, not a hand out, how I am a diamond in the rough and know full well if I can just get that helping hand, I would absolutely shine some day!!!!!!!
    2nd Note to Self;
    At all costs, no matter what, maybe, just perhaps, don't ever tell anybody, let alone on video for all the world to see, that what pisses me off the most about living on the street is how they keep coming around making me move, or take away, my electric generator, my TV set, my video game controller, my video games, and my mini fridge, from the Public City Sidewalks, maybe, just perhaps, I just might be able to gain some empathy, compassion, charity, a helping hand.

    I lived in San Fran for a few weeks. I mean people literally lived in tents in front of the apartment I was at. At night, only crazed homeless people walked the streets. I felt very unsafe. The homeless would harrass me and I just had to ignore them and walk away.
    This problem is complicated. Lets not talk about one side of the story. Homelessness effects everyone, not just homeless people.

    • @ecoterrorism_liker7251
      @ecoterrorism_liker7251 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      the point is that we should be helping homeless people by putting them in homes. criminalization and shit like police sweeps only exacerbates homelessness.

    • @oswaldojfernandez6807
      @oswaldojfernandez6807 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ecoterrorism_liker7251 a lot of homeless people don't want to live in homes or aren't mentally stable enough to do so. The problem is we have a huge population of homeless people that either are too mentally ill or too drug addicted and crazy to live in a home.
      And I'm sure the sweeps existed for a reason. We need to hear both sides of the arguement and until we're objective we won't find the proper solutions.
      Just giving away homes isnt the solution, I'm sure of it

    About the NY BC's , it is not true that if you loose your ID, you can't get it back. I work with a contractor for NYC Dept. Of Health and they have alternate ID's they accept, like gov letter, utility bills, college/ school transcripts and even a gov agency can request you BC if they work directly with the vital records office by mail or in person. NYC even has pre-adoption BC's if you want them for your files, but they are only informational because the after adoption is the certified one. Don't know about NY state, but with NYC, things can get worked out.

    The sweeps by me in Korea town consist of tow trucks impounding stolen cars at the camps, throwing away mountains of bicycle parts from stolen bicycles, and stacks of furniture 🪑 that will just be a huge fire blaze in a week or so.
    Homeless people do keep it clean and do actually have their items nice and neat and over all nice people, but the people I love by are pretty wild with literally buildings built out of trash turned to crack dens, and stabbings every other day. After a sweep around here, it’s less ambulances speeding down the road.

    I understand the plight...but there are legal issues: camping on public sidewalks is basically claiming public lands as personal property, the general public cant use public lands. Then there is the issue, that if the city allows this, they are legally responsible if there was harm to the public. This would result in loss of money that would have gone to serve others in need, and jobs too. I can see both sides. The homeless are seeing the now, the city is seeing the future.
