I've always made plate flowers, but I never ever imagine hanging some of these. You just blew my mind. Sorry you blew my mind. I am mesmerized I really am
I hope it works out for you. Just remember to "test" the first one by hanging it over something soft after the silicone dries for a day or so. I haven't had any accidental drops, but it isn't a bad idea for your first one.
I love your creativity. Try putting a remote control light or fairy lights inside the base. When lit up at night would be so pretty. Try a spinning hook.
@cathrynhye1626 Actually have put lights in my larger solar fountains, not the hanging ones (check the other videos). I'll have to look for other hooks, but these pieces don't exactly catch the breeze.
About 23 or so yrs ago, the old MSN had groups. One was Garden Junk and it was such a creative, busy place. We used a LOT of GEII Indoor/outdoor silicone on our garden glass art. For as many members there were even more ideas. Your art for hanging glass was something the group hadnt yet done. Really cool stuff you do! Its too bad MSN dumped that whole group section... loads of ideas lost. You would have been a valued member.😊
These are beautiful as are all your others ones. I've collected a lot of glassware but haven't made any yet. I know how it feels to make something you love and then keep for yourself. I think most of my house is that way.😅 Doug, have you ever thought abt selling some of your pieces? They'd bring such joy to someone who can't make them for whatever reason. I bet some in your local nursing home or Hospice center would really enjoy them, or whomever you SELL them to. In the city I live even the thrift stores are outrageously high..Its ridiculous. Its just an idea. I'm still looking for some "special pieces" so I can marked a small solar hummingbird and small bird bath to put by my water feature. Hopefully soon. Thank you for sharing your treasures. Keep making them please. Take care..Blessings to you and yours..
All good suggestions. Thanks for the great thoughts. So long as I can find cool glass pieces, I will try to keep building these glass sculptures ... and giving them away.
@jennifermilne7151 It dries pretty solid. Only had one come off and that was because it was a layer of clear paint that peeled off, not the silicone's fault.
If you check the description you will find a list of supplies I use and recommend. I use 100% silicone for the adhesive. It works and it can also be removed if I have to make repairs.
Beautiful and inspiring work! What silicon do you use? It appears there is no concern with the silicon and the eight of the piece! Thanks for sharing!!!! Gorgeous!
@mimibff9564 I have had success with the GE 100% silicone listed in the description. I only had one piece disconnect and that was from a thin layer of paint that actually peeled off.
@@diamondlucidity I guess I am going to have to look into that a bit more. Camping with grandsons for the moment. I will see how to attach pics when back home.
Well, I learn something new every day. I now know about carnival glass and feel like I should have looked for a mark before completing the build. Thanks for the information, I will research more about carnival glass and its care.
@aburk8417 It does, if you use a decent glob (technical term) and let it dry overnight. If uncertain, just hang it low over a cushion for a day or so, just in case.
I don't usually spend more than $7 per piece and that would be for a large or unusual piece. If it is senior discount day it would be discounted 25%. So total cost for a 3 or 4 piece sculpture is usually under $20. Tubes of silicone run almost $9. And there are the added costs for lights and solar fountains, if used.
@@doug2581 Thanks in Florida the larger plates and vases can run $15.00. The glue will do 3 hanging items? Do you use JB weld? I am new at this and will attempt my first one this weekend! In red and white! Thank You for this tutorial.
Brilliant
Very nice! Love them!

Wait whaaaa? No, the question is how have I never seen this!?
@peaharrison9071 Glad you found us! Enjoy the videos.
This was amazing! I have quite a bit of clear glass in a variety of designs, and this might be the perfect way to upcycle it for my booth!

Yay! Thank you! Glad you enjoy. Oh gosh, now I have to watch my wardrobe! That's a fun t-shirt, since we do a fair amount of RV travel.
Glad you enjoy -- the shirt, too.
Do you know the definition of ‘totem’? Might want to check it out.
I mean no disrespect with the use of the term and going forward will keep the origin of the term in mind. Thank you.

Thanks and welcome. Plenty of ideas for you in these videos.
Ever think about drilling those and putting in a light socket? Drilling glass isn't bad with the proper bit.
@lindajam8202 I've done some drilling with diamond bits, but light fixtures? Not sure. Nice idea for the future.
I love these ! I would be concerned that the silicone would separate especially in the heat where I am and break ! Has that happened much ?
@jennifermilne7151 It dries pretty solid. Only had one come off and that was because it was a layer of clear paint that peeled off, not the silicone's fault.
What glue did u use? Thanks for sharing your beautiful creations

When you mention that you use silicone on your projects, does it dry clear or hazy? I never see a good closeup when you're finished.
@@janicelangum111 It does dry a bit hazy rather than crystal clear. I will try to post a closeup in a future video.

What kind of silicone do you use?
I use 100% silicone clear caulk. A link is here:

Where can I purchase motor for my round table?
@@nl9365 I'll have to ask my son, who made that for me. I will post when I learn.

The iridescent sheen of the carnival glass will be destroyed in sunlight. Please hang it inside away from sunlight.

So the silicone really holds with the weight of it all?
@aburk8417 It does, if you use a decent glob (technical term) and let it dry overnight. If uncertain, just hang it low over a cushion for a day or so, just in case.
What happens when a person is looking for the Colbert blue glass wine or water glass a person is looking for a collection? They are gone now
@@blancheworthing6255 I guess that can happen, but I also see many of these pieces with chips or cracks that make them unsafe for drinking.

@foxie2u1965 Well I have noticed thrift glass prices have gone up just a bit. Be diligent, shop often and watch for discount days.
