    The truth of God tears me up inside rips me in pieces makes my conceited self righteous persona crumble. I tear up because im wrong and want to be right...i can't stand the thought of eternity without the Lord.

      Once a child of darkness now a child of light and i must act that way because through the sacrifice of my lord I've been made part of the family...me a lost sinner saved by his love and grace that i may receive a tiny piece of heaven even though most of my life has been corrupt.

    • @Ctheflow
      @Ctheflow 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No this is not at all what the scripture means. What you are meaning by saying we must decrease is God must kill us essentially.. or in other words
      Lord, get rid of everything that’s me, because I believe You can only be glorified in me if I don’t really exist. If You can just get rid of me, then You will somehow be able to glorify Yourself in me.”
      But what that verse actually means is this..
      When John said “He must increase, but I must decrease,” he was talking about the fact that the Law was being fulfilled, and the new day of the Jesus’ Kingdom was dawning.
      Read a bit into that scripture and what's said before and after and you'll get the real meaning of what that means. But we should never decrease... That's just silly, I'm sure the devil would love that.
      We need to increase as a child of God, knowing our identity in Christ! Romans 8:19 says 'For [even the whole] creation (all nature) waits expectantly andlongs earnestly for God's sons to be made known [waits for the revealing, the disclosing of their sonship].'
      So the Earth is actually a waiting for the sons of God to be made known... Now how can that happen if we decrease?
      understanding this verse as we must decrease so he can increase so demonic and twisted. And most people only say it because they've hurt others say it. But if you actually read the verse it says something totally different if you read what was before and stop taking it out of context..

      @@Ctheflow yeah, I mean it was mainly in importance. The argument preceding it was the fact that everybody was now going to Jesus to be baptised instead of John. John's response can be summarised: "hey guys, this isn't about me. This is about Jesus, he must increase in importance while I decrease in importance. I'm not going for the glory here, it's about his glory".

      AGK motivation We are!! We are so important that the God of the universe and all created things decided we were worth the sacrifice of His own life 😮 We are very important to Him. We’re the bride of Christ! If that’s not important I don’t know what is ❤️ If we understand His worthiness, then we see our worth to Him. I don’t think Francis is saying we’re worthless or unimportant! Just that we need to fix our eyes on our Beloved - the fruit of “looking” at Him will be selfless lives filled with worth and value as the Bride of the Most High God. 🙌❤️

    Idolizing self - it's not a fun time. It's a trap that will destroy your life. John 8:32-36- "The truth will set you free and if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. Thankyou Lord for bringing me a teacher such as him, for he has helped me become closer to the Father in heaven.
    For I prayed to God, Thankyou for being with me every day. For I have loved you God since I was young, and I will love you when I am old.
    Then I opened my Bible and read Psalms 71. Verse 17, 18..
    " 17.O God, you have taught me from my earliest childhood, and I constantly tell others about the wonderful things you do.
    18. Now that I am old and gray, do not abandon me, O God. Let me proclaim your power to this new generation, your mighty miracles to all who come after me."

God is all powerful, we matter to him and he wants us to know him more, love him more and trust in his promises.

    100% true...We have to be accountable to the word of God. Instead of reaching for the phone in the morning we should be reaching for the bible. The words of Life. "Remember Gods thoughts are not our thoughts and His thinking is not our thinking..He brings you the word to help uncover the veil of truth in a disciplined manner..Meditation and careful thought exercise us and strengthen us for the reception of the yet more lofty truths..our Lord puts up truths in lofty places to work at obtaining it and letting it nurture our souls..
    The word becomes our medicine our armor You must labor to understand the word and pray to God to help." -CS-

    I love the way Francis talks heaps about really seeing God and how worthy He is as the underlying value of life, and every fruit that springs from that will be wonderful, cos it’s the way we were made to live.
    But I’d add this; if we don’t face our past, or the current rotten fruit in our lives, and invite Jesus into those places, we will not become healthy Christians. In order to see God’s worthiness and glory, we often need to see His responses to us! To our crap, to our personality, to our “good”. And we need to ask what He’s doing when He shows us Himself. Each of these moments builds the relationship’s depth. So we really see how worthy He is. And that revelation of His nature - His worthiness - is what produces incredible fruit. Do you know what I mean? I agree with Francis, but I’m adding that sometimes seeing yourself (with Jesus) is actually important and not narcissistic. It produces revelation of His awesomeness, and sky rockets our trust levels. Our eyes become captivated by Him because what else could capture our attention after truly experiencing His glorious nature toward us?!

    This makes me think of Christmas cards. Remember when we sent cards to glorify God...share the spirit of the Lord? Now, we get pictures of people and all they've accomplished in the year. Makes me crazy! We are literally removing Christ from Christmas.

    Thirty years ago, in my dorm room, I had a sepia print of my grandmother on my desk. Because I looked so much like her, everyone that came into my room thought it was a picture of me; everyone that saw it said, " Conceited, much? ". Eventually I took the picture down because I was getting so much abuse. THAT'S how much times have changed. Back then it was unthinkable to even hang up a picture of yourself. Now, it's normal to take pictures of yourself all day every day.

      Selfies aren't evil, I dont think that's his main goal either. It's a me focused ideology. I think looking at yourself knowing that you are ugly brings you to Christ and knowing that anything beauty in you comes from the responses to God's saving grace it's clear that you are beautiful but that's because God is beautiful not cuz we are independently so. Also it's good to deny yourself but I feel we need to understand what it is we deny ourselves of. Acts that take you away from Christ even if they are not inherently sinful must be denyed by you. All sin must be denyed and our flesh love sin and the witod says sin is the only way to live a good life but we must deny ourselves. If what we do causes others to stumble even if it's not sinful inherently, we deny ourselves. We kill our flesh and instead look at what God has done for us to us and in us. My opinion may change since this is only my take and considering how seasoned Francis Chan is in Christ who am I to say. Maybe I'm misunderstanding him and instead getting stuck on the details. But I pray God continues to use Francis Chan for the glory of God and benefit of everyone. May God continue to bless people through him and draw others to Christ.

    This is so good! We all need to regularly check our hearts for this, because the flesh will always try to creep back in and put "ME FIRST" in our heads. I need to anyway. We need to pray to be more servant minded.

    What a blessed word! When I think self is dead, it reminds me it's still very much alive... and my ironic sense of humour is smiling that most people's avatars on here are "selfies". Hmmm.

    • @starstruckstar2597
      @starstruckstar2597 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @we thepeople We cannot judge or condemn. Only God can do that however, we are to examine everything and retain what is good. If we notice someone who is not being a blessing to us, we have the right to rejected. Maybe Osteen is a blessing to you, but he is not for other people. Christians have opinions as well. Just because we are called to love each other, it does not mean that we should be complicit towards their rhetoric. The Bible says that because of the lack of knowledge, His people will perish. Some pastors want to preach a watered down version of Jesus. Some of us can see it and some of us don't. Regardless, we have the right to our opinion without having people like you telling us we are judging. Study the Word and don't pick and choose verses to fit your narrative. Thank you!
