Hey, Trentini Beatriz, It’s made by a small Japanese/Thai brand called Traps. I purchased it from Chatuchak market, Bangkok. I also stumbled across a store in a mall in the city somewhere. Their facebook page (more info on there) states they have a store in Chiang Mai too. facebook.com/trapsbkk & trapsbkk.ocnk.net Thanks for watching and asking your question!

Nice idea. Because I'm a plus size, and need several medications every day, my bum bag would not have any room left for clothes. On my next trip I'm trying to reduce down to a 7L mini daypack (for girls). My plan is to wear mix-and match layer and 2-pc swimsuit as undies, then pack as few versatile clothes items as possible. I've already stopped using makeup and most toiletries. Some toiletries are provided by my hotel so no need to carry toothbrush and paste, soap or lotion. I cut my hair super short so no need to pack hair product or hair accessories anymore. yay! wish me luck...

What would she carry for her monthly periods? Reusable pads? A moon cup? Or would she just buy tampons wherever she is at? That was the most important difference I feel between and women😕.

Agree, I thought that would addressed! A menstrual cup would most likely be ideal for a minimalist traveler (from my own experience).

Breanda and Annika, thanks for pointing out that I should have included this!
I decided to leave that open to interpretation as it’s a very personal preference.
I’ve asked Talise, and she said she buys the toiletries required only as she needs them.
She personally uses pads, which do take up more space. She said, because of that, when she travels, she only buys the lowest quantity (for the 4-6 days of the month necessary). This way, the whole package is used up, preventing her from carrying them around when not needed.
I also asked about the cup and she thinks they’re a great minimalist option but also mentioned some disadvantages could be:
-you have to carry it when not needed,
-it needs boiling, which could be an inconvenience, awkward and perhaps complicated to do, depending on where you’re staying.
The issue exists when continually moving on a trip, but an alternative would be to stay in one place during that period (if on a longer trip).
Sorry for not including this in the video. Thanks for watching and your contribution!

Bar none your bum bag travel series is my absolute favorite on minimalism. I am going to do it on my next trip!

Thank you so much Jake, that really means a lot! I’m so pleased you enjoy the content. This is such a kind and substantial compliment for me.
That’s brilliant! I love hearing from others who want to travel this way too. It’s inspiring for me to help grow the community of minimalist travel enthusiasts.
I’d be interested to hear more about your trip and I’m sure others would too, if you ever feel like sharing details/your experiences. Best of luck and enjoy the new found freedom!

I'm really intrigued by this. I travel with either a 20L or 30L backpack, and that is already considered ultralight. But bumbag travel is something else. This video makes me want to challenge myself to do it on my next trip. Not sure if I would regret it, or find it liberating.

    • @LostYetFree
      @LostYetFree  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Thanks for leaving a comment, Chris. I think 20-30 litres can be the optimal size depending on the type of trip: it’s small enough to not feel in the way/too heavy, but it allows space for a few extra conveniences.
I’ve travelled with a 25 litre pack and whilst there are notable benefits, I didn’t find the overall experience to be quite as thrilling. Going through this process, I personally found it to be a fun challenge/experiment at first. The liberation it brought, then made me want to sell/donate more of my possessions and approach life in a less property-dependant manner.
Travelling with significantly less, certainly forces you to pack and think differently. As I point out in this series, this comes with both positives and negatives, finding that right balance is up to you.
That’s really cool you want to give it a go. Perhaps you’ll benefit from trying it out on a short trip first, that way you know what to tweak/switch around. I suppose the only way you’ll find out what’s right for you is by giving it a go. Thanks so much for watching and best of luck!

Sunblock? Bug spray? Moon or diva cup? I'm all for living and traveling simply but it almost seems more wasteful to have to buy these things I already have and leave half full bottles everywhere.

    • @LostYetFree
      @LostYetFree  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Brandy, I agree, that could prove extremely wasteful, especially as so much of these products come in thick plastic packaging. This is partly why I’ve cut down the toiletries I depend on.
For me, the products I must have are toothpaste and shampoo.
If you’re not fussy about the specific product you use, you will often see shampoo/conditioner/body wash left behind at hostels as travellers often do exactly that. At the very least, there will usually be soap in bathrooms, provided by the hostel, so I use this for washing my body and clothes. For much of my travels I’ve washed this way without the need to buy and carry anything.
My bum bag has space for a limited amount of small products (e.g. something for monthly period essential for women).
Suncream is a product that I’ve gone without in the past and wouldn’t in the future (we’ve all been young and foolish).
I bought a small mosquito spray whilst in Myanmar but found that I would mostly sleep under a net and therefor didn’t use it enough to keep.
Personally, I would only buy a large bottle and leave it if I knew I’d be staying in that place for long enough to use most of it and if carrying it alongside the bum bag (until it’s finished) would be too much of a pain.
You soon realise the right product sizes that work for your style of travel/packing but forcing yourself to minimise can definitely be a good thing.
Thanks so much for leaving the comment!

There was a woman traveler Clara Benson who traveled with no luggage. Have you read her book "No Baggage"? Really loved this video. Was your friend interested in downsizing to a bum bag?

      Thank you so much Sherri!
Talise is gradually reducing the amount she travels with but hasn’t got as far as the bum bag ..yet! She’s had past experiences hindered from packing too much, so is intent on not letting that happen again.
I’m making more content about this!
I’ve not heard of the author, thanks for the suggestion.

@@LostYetFree I'm sure she will get there especially with your help. I would love to see a video about how she makes the transition and how it's working for her. Maybe she could could show us what she has now and then what she ends up with later? If that is possible. I am very curious about that. Thank you for replying back to me.

Thanks for these great suggestions, Robinson VanCrusoe! We’re temporarily fixed in Brazil right now, but I will make an update video about Talise’s packing and her potential transition when she next travels!

Love it! I was inspired by your first video to do a bum bag trip myself a few years ago. It seemed to actually work better for me in winter (southern winter) then the second trip I tried it on in August on a beach weekend. I’ve given it som more thought and want to try it again in summer. This is a great follow up video.

Thank you for revisiting my channel, Mel! I remember your previous comments where you told me you took your first trip, fantastic that you tried no bag travel more than once and during winter too! I’m really interested to hear how you found travelling this way, what were the biggest challenges for you in the states, it would be interesting to learn why you found it easier during winter. Thanks for your kind words about this video, I really appreciate it!

I currently use a GoPro and previously used a phone to record. This video was mostly filmed with my girlfriend's phone as mine broke whilst in Mexico. I was able to edit my first few videos on my phone but at the moment have access to a computer. Thanks for your question, Ren M!

I would use my jacket as a backpack and when in use, use a foldable bum bag.
