Have a look at Age of Empires Mobile here: aoemobile.onelink.me/tdq9/Zakh Thank you! And thanks to them for sponsoring today. Mobile games are tricky. People would love recommendations, so have you been playing any already released mobile strategy or building games that are actually good?
I remember seeing Frostpunk mobile a long time ago and by this point completely forgot about it. Your video reminded me of it now and I went to check but sadly "not available in my country".
Yeah that's always an annoying thing with mobile games, they're always subject to a lot of laws and regulations which are different in every country, so it always takes a long time for a mobile game to get everywhere.
I'm very picky when it comes to mobile strategy games but a great one is Through the Ages. It's a board game adaptation which also exists on Steam and GOG. I've been playing it since 2018 and loving almost every second of it. Unfortunately it's not free like the ones in this video.
@@GarretOutWest Yes exactly. The best doesn't mean they're guaranteed good and even for released games they often change in the future. That is the reality of the games industry.
I guess they must have made money on the first C&C mobile game...that's a scary thought. EA holding the good IP's of yesteryear hostage with shitty mobile games really grinds my gears tho.
Last year we found out that a single WoW mount microtransaction made more money than the whole of SC2 Wings of Liberty. For publishers, there just really isn't any point investing in a AAA RTS anymore. Why bother when you can make 1 microtransaction and get more profit?
@@GamerZakhthis is so true. Our only hope is when each money grabbing organisation makes itself break apart by abusing its staff and they go off to make indie studios lol
@@GamerZakh What you say is obviously true which is why I'm so pleasantly suprised by Microsoft supporting the AOE franchise as they do despite it not making them billions of dollars. I have this vague hope for blizzard rts-games now based on that.
@@Fastwinstondoom Yeah for a while Microsoft wasn't doing all that great with gaming, but then something changed and at least for the last few years and seemingly the next few right now, Microsoft is doing a lot of good things in the gaming space that isn't just about maximising profit.
I might, it's just there's so many games that I'm supposed to play and I can't keep up. Right now I'm focusing on some other work and some life events that happened.
01:23 Wait, wait. Let me get this straight. This is a game where your decisions could kill what's left of humanity. Or rescue it by killing half of it. But you rescue and protect animals?! Okay, I'll just play one of my copies for the PC, at some point...
AoE looks like a perfect copy of era of conquest … It was a major failure. Will see if they had something new to the rts genra because we already have 20 of those games in the appstore… Only call of dragons add something to the gameplay with ability u could use on the battlefied, i dont know why other developers add nothing to the gameplay.
Wait, so they're ALL derivative? Not a single original title? These look like an awful waste of time, especially considering strategy is a genre that actually does have good strategy games on mobile, both free (Mindustry), free with some P2W (Clash Royale), freemium (Gladiabots, Subterfuge) and full-fledged cheap games (Bad North, Through the Ages), most having BOTH singleplayer and multiplayer gameplay. If there was a gem I've missed in this video, it's only because this video and its games were really NOT worthy, especially not of my time.
OK, I've found the 4 year old video of mobile city building games - I'm not sure that's the one referenced in the video, which had clips from Fallout Shelter? I couldn't find a video with that in it. The city building game video actually commented on the shortcomings - that's great. Please do more of that. They didn't seem that good, either, though...
All games are derivative really, especially all mobile games. Clash Royale is a derivative of Clash of Clans for example but you like that. Even if the title is original, it's likely they got the idea and most of the design from something that came before. Like how Angry Birds is a Crush the Castle ripoff. In my experience, every game is a 'ripoff', it's just whether we know what it copied or not.
@@buttonasas Comment on the shortcomings? I do... throughout this video. Even for the sponsored game I comment on the difficulties and shortcomings, even to say that "mobile RTS often just isn't good".
@@buttonasas Also, there's a 3 minute space between your first comment and second. The older mobile city building list is 14 minutes long. How did you find it and comment on its content in 3 minutes when its 4X longer than the time between your comments? I think you should slow down and watch the videos properly before commenting in such a rush.
@@GamerZakh I actually watched it before posting the first comment, the 3 minutes was just the time it took to add another. But I did watch it in a rush, I must admit - point taken.
Oh besides that, Frostpunk is out and reviewed, 4.4/5 on the Play Store, 50K+ downloads. PvZ3 has 1M+ downloads, 3.8/5 on the Play Store. Age of Empires Mobile has launched in a few countries in early access, if you're not in the release region doesn't mean it's not released.
frostpunk PC is amazing, mobile version is not so much. After the instructions phase, its come just like other free mobile games with tons of money sucking methods. So anoy
I am seeing that Age of Empires Mobile game ad and the looked it up on the playstore and it just looks like the typical Clash of Clans clone. Like I hope I'm wrong but ffs, almost all the strategy games on mobile are clash of clans ripoffs. We need actual strategy games, not cash grab mmo bs, if there are timers for making units and getting resources, then it is gunna be a coc ripoff.
It's not globally available yet but I saw a beta started in France, Philippines, and Indonesia yesterday, so there should be lots of footage going around now. Timers for making units is true for almost all strategy games, you don't just click a knight in AoE2 and it pops out, it's a timer. But being able to pay real money to speed up production is pay-to-win, so watch out for that.
@@GamerZakh yeah exactly, well, we'll see. Btw, really liked your videos on The Settlers 2, I discovered the game because of you and it's really good. Would be cool if you finish it. Last thing, somehow it got ported on the Nintendo DS, the framerate is pretty low and the music is not ported to it but all in all, it's The Settlers 2 on the Nintendo DS, really impressive.
