Hello everyone, today please enjoy my Australian Dendrobium.
I got my hands on several pots of Australian Dendrobium last year. I used to think that it was a bit of a hassle to make it bloom. But seeing that the flower friends raised it so well, I thought that as long as I learned the methods of the flower friends, I should be able to raise it well, so I still got started. But after I raised these Australian Dendrobiums, I found that it was not that difficult.
Most varieties of Australian Dendrobiums, even native species, are still easy to bloom. The key is to pay attention to two maintenance methods. One is that European Dendrobium prefers moisture. It is not like Phalaenopsis or Cattleya, which have thicker root systems. It only needs to be watered once every half a month. They need moisture. The method of moisture retention is not to water it constantly. For orchids, watering too frequently is dangerous.
Then Australian Dendrobium can indeed be given like semi-hydroponics, leaving some water at the bottom of its cover pot, and then this plastic pot is suspended in the air to keep the bottom moist, which is very helpful for its growth. It will continuously grow new branches, and it needs sufficient sunlight and spring flowers.
Sufficient sunlight means that it can be exposed to the sun even in summer, as long as it is not exposed to excessive sunlight. That is to say, it cannot be exposed to the sun after 12 o'clock. But compared with other orchids, it can be exposed to the sun from 10 o'clock in the morning or after 11 o'clock, and then it is vernalized in autumn.
In autumn, when the night temperature is about 5 or 6 degrees Celsius, it is most suitable to put it outdoors for vernalization. The night temperature is 5 or 6 degrees Celsius, and the daytime temperature is usually around 15 to 20 degrees Celsius. This weather still occurs frequently in Toronto. If it can be placed outdoors for half a month to a month, its vernalization can be completed. After moving it indoors, it will continue to grow flower buds.
In fact, it has already started to grow flower buds outdoors. I moved it indoors after seeing that the night temperature was below 5 degrees Celsius, and then I didn't move it out again.
They began to grow a lot of flower buds.
In addition, I found that after moving it indoors, the flower buds grown outdoors would dry up and fall off. Because the environment has changed, and the spectrum of indoor plant lights is still different from the natural light outdoors, it is very sensitive, and some of its flower buds will still flatten, but new flower buds emerge in an endless stream. Therefore, even if it is a native variety, Australian Stone Lake can still be raised well and can still enjoy many flowering seasons. Therefore, raising some orchids like Australian Dendrobium, even if it is a native species, it can still be raised into a flowering machine. It is not too difficult. The key is to vernalize. If it is not vernalized, I also found that they are not not blooming, but there are slightly fewer flower buds. For example, in spring, I took it outdoors a little late because I did not consider that they are also a flowering season in spring, so I took it out when the night temperature was above 8 degrees Celsius. After taking it out, it was about half a month, and some of them began to grow flower buds. So I think I took it out a little late. I should take it out in spring when the night temperature is higher than 5 or 6 degrees, so that they can bloom in spring when there is a temperature difference outdoors. And it blooms quite luxuriantly.
Therefore, Australian Dendrobium is an orchid that is very worth starting.
