Funny how such a simple part can wreak such incredible havoc on performance. I can't imagine how poorly it ran while starving for fuel. Great vid Knighter!
Glad you made comments about stuff the factory doesn’t fit, like kickstart, the battery takes a real battering and before you know it, no go.They’ve got a cheek asking for extra £ for what should be a standard feature. Well said👏🏻👍🏻
If it’s possible, please make a video about tires, mousses, and traction, what type of tires, and when you use!?🙏🏻 It’s would be amazing! Thanks from Hungary!😉
Vacuum lock on the tank. I've had it many times on garden equipment, but never on a bike! Start with the simple things first, eh? 😁 Great to see some honest opinions from a Pro who's actually going through the setup process. All the extra bits and pieces certainly add up!! $$$$
So much interesting info Dai I can’t get enough of it, surprising how much you can change on a standard bike to bring it to life. look forward to it passing me at the T1 to see how she moves and works 😎 🏴 (Glyn boy)
Great insight on the mods super excited to see you ripping it !! Cant beat a head tap wood touch just to be sure massive respect thanks for years of inspiration
Good luck at DAKAR ..Really enjoy watching you disect and improve the 300.. I have just bought a21 husky 450 first injection bike ,i never felt comfy on them loved carb bikes but here i am enjoying the technology.. Still have many reservations about the 300 tpi Probably a little down to ignorance on my part .. It also seems crazy to spend 8k on a bike built for extreme and it does not have a fan a bash plate etc expensive sport iguess ..good luck great vloggs ..
I know some who have these bikes and love em but great hearing your take on them and how to improve the bike . A top level rider will spot weaknesses straight away I suppose
Same problem with fuel tank breather during my sand racing days at Southport I’d modified the frame and installed X2 grease nipples in order to grease the head stock bearings & to keep the salt water out place the tank breather down the head stock tube than the just wouldn’t pull scratched my than pulled the breather out yep full of grease thereafter cleaned it up never gave another problem great video Cheers…!!!
Love the honesty mate have been a fan since you won your first erzberg and still have a knighter helmet just as well your not a mtb er to be sponsored you really need to be able to lie so much rubbish and it costs twice as much as moto ,thumbs up from down under .
I had the same - I would suggest that you also try winding the power valve in / out to adjust how lively the bike feels…. My only other advice - go for an S3 Head, Gnarly FMF, turbine core ….my TPI 2020 is like a new bike, off the bottom it is mint 😍
Have you checked your exhaust valve settings? I’m sure you have but just in case if anyone haven’t - you should! Mine was the wrong setting from the factory. It was more then 3mm in from flush. The manual says 2.3mm (1.5 turn) and after adjusting it made a big difference for my type of riding! Feels much perkier now! 👌🏻 (KTM 300 TPI 2021) Great stuff! Keep it coming! 👍🏻
The new tube for the vent sucks. Ive heard of tip overs when gas gets on the lower triple clamp bearing and washes out the grease. I rerouted mine to the side of the frame like to old ones.
Love your vlogs. Your technical knowledge is amazing. Would love to see you and some like guy martin trail riding and chatting together as I reckon it would be really interesting.
My friend that rides that 666 bike sent me to check out your channel, and I found I was already subscribed when I got here :) Love your content. I hope you lure him to ride the hills over with you so I can see it on video! Thumb up and shared.
Good video and agree about the bolt ons which should be stock. No kickstart, no way. 😄 Why do you prefer the skinny tyre in the sand? 90/90? Or 80/100? I’ve got my 300EXC set up like an XC for the desert, running the 90/100 for smashing through stuff at speed. Not ideal when doing MX track work like the 90/90 but not a bad tyre (Mitas C19).
I bought a 2022 tx 300 and mine has been perfection out of the crate! And it has a ton of power all through the range, especially now with a full fmf system
Really like this series of your TPI-project. Have you tried adjusting the exhaustportspring? *Have a 2020 250 EXC-TPI and after adjustment of exhaustportspring, I´m lovin it. *Not a PRO rider.
Great content, thanks! Just reluctantly sold my perfectly set up '17 300 XC-W and waiting for my '22 to arrive to set up. This is helpful, appreciate your time. One question, do you feel the X-Trig clamps offer any better feel or just better bar position? I've seen where they supposedly give less binding in the forks.
For us mere mortals maybe setting the sag ,fitting sump guard and spending the money on fuel and more riding time...10 big uns and no sump guard is nuts...
I've recently bought the medium comp TSP head for my 300tpi not had a chance to fit it yet but along with the ECU which I've not had done yet does it make a noticeable difference in the bottom to mid? Thanks
i thought you hated 2 strokes cause i remember back in the day you were always riding thumpers and one year you switched to 300 with not so good results. im glad i was wrong!
Rides for KTM- best bikes ever Rides for BMW- best bikes ever Rides for Honda- best bikes ever Rides for Sherco- best bikes ever Back on KTM- best bikes ever 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Makes you think about how many people may be riding a bike that's down on power and performance because of that simple issue. Shit, I may have had been riding my KTM like that.
Quick question, regarding the offset bearing, I struggle with the front end on my sherco which has lots of similar parts to ktm, where do you get the offset bearing from and do you have to change the clamps to allow for it or will the standard be ok?
No point having a kick starter they only took them off because they wont start on it when you really need it. Cant even roll start the bike if the battery dies.
The thing that separates David from the rest is his mechanical knowledge. Excellent tips and tricks to get the best out of anyy bike. Many thanks.
What legend and a gentleman appreciate your time to make the video very interesting thank you 🇬🇧😆
Absolute legend and the original hard enduro rider!
So glad I found this vlog, cheers and keep up the great work.
Funny how such a simple part can wreak such incredible havoc on performance. I can't imagine how poorly it ran while starving for fuel. Great vid Knighter!
No frills, no bullshit, no adverts👌🏼
Watched you race in the States a few years back, by far the most talented rider I have ever seen. You and Paul Whibley
I Always been your fan.....Knighter4ever
Ktm shit there pants when they watched your 1st post
Absolute honesty 👏 thank you knighter
See you at the tough one 🇬🇧

Michelin Medium on the front and Michelin extreme gummy on rear with soft mousse on both. He says in the video
Nice how you can talk freely when you're not on the payroll.
Love watching these setup videos, so much value
I spoke freely on the payroll, that’s why I was taken of it 😂
@@knighternet I heard you saying that in my head before I even read your comment 😂

Many details makes this a helpful video. And cool ending. Thanks

Great video seems a totally down to earth guy enjoying the videos stay safe 🇬🇧👍
The best enduro channel on youtube
Can't wait to see you in the extream stuff ,Thank you for the great information
👌
I know some who have these bikes and love em but great hearing your take on them and how to improve the bike . A top level rider will spot weaknesses straight away I suppose
Great to see how you set up a bike when you’re not stuck within contracts.
I totally agree on the price of the bikes and what little they have on them
Awesome videos, thx, hope you make it to the corduroy enduro again ,from Ontario Canada.

Damn! So sweet content, thank you David! Greetings from Estonia.
Thanks so much for these 2 amazing 2 stroke videos! Legend
Please come back to the US and run the TKO next year. You have a huge fan base here.
Life in the old dog yet .... good luck for the Dakar !
waiting for more videos !!
Mine was gutless until I put a few hours on it. My first hour I was like this is no 300, it slowly got better
Absolutely ace! Can’t wait for the T1 💪💪🏁🏁
Would you be willing to try the TBI(Throttle body injection) kits that Jarvis, Manny are running on their TPI's? Thanks for the great videos!
I had the same - I would suggest that you also try winding the power valve in / out to adjust how lively the bike feels…. My only other advice - go for an S3 Head, Gnarly FMF, turbine core ….my TPI 2020 is like a new bike, off the bottom it is mint 😍
Which S3 head did you choose? Extreme model?
Brilliant videos. Developing, spannering and riding. No 1 (01)
Great vids so far are you working on episode 3 ? ✊💨
Well done mate...love it
Have you checked your exhaust valve settings?
I’m sure you have but just in case if anyone haven’t - you should!

(KTM 300 TPI 2021)
Great stuff! Keep it coming! 👍🏻
It takes a long time to warm up because you took the thermostat off which closes when the bike is cold to help it warm up more quickly.
Great looking bike, love the elevator music as well 🤣
Keep it up can't wait to see more

So basically a 10 grand bike can be pretty good, but only after you put another 5 grands worth of bits on it 😂😂
I bought a 2022 tx 300 and mine has been perfection out of the crate! And it has a ton of power all through the range, especially now with a full fmf system
I will stick with my 07 200 exc light fast stacks of bottom end best bike ktm eva made .
Really like this series of your TPI-project. Have you tried adjusting the exhaustportspring?
*Have a 2020 250 EXC-TPI and after adjustment of exhaustportspring, I´m lovin it. *Not a PRO rider.
i'm jealous of your General Lee helmet
David is the bike as good as the 2017 last carbed bike ?
Will it last as long as the carbed bike
Hope your well thanks again
I think as good for extreme, maybe better in some respects but not as good for enduro
Less oil=more cylinder wear...simple
Great video thanks,
Great vid
Epic! A legendary rider!
I didn't quite get the handlebar code... Was it 801?
821 fatbar or 999 twinwall 👍🏼
Hi David. I'm a fan from Portugal. What bar bend do you use ? Tka
Needs to run the Redbull WESS series and show the young guns how its done !!
Great content, thanks! Just reluctantly sold my perfectly set up '17 300 XC-W and waiting for my '22 to arrive to set up. This is helpful, appreciate your time. What's the go with the Dakar? Is there a go-fund-me again? Would be good to chip in a few coppers again if you are.
Get the red spring for the exaust valve
David do your raptor foot pegs keep your feet pointed inwards for clamping the bike better for controll
Thinking are they worth the £230 investment 🤔
For us mere mortals maybe setting the sag ,fitting sump guard and spending the money on fuel and more riding time...10 big uns and no sump guard is nuts...
The idol screw mod gives it much more bottom end.
I've recently bought the medium comp TSP head for my 300tpi not had a chance to fit it yet but along with the ECU which I've not had done yet does it make a noticeable difference in the bottom to mid? Thanks
so when are you going to do Erzberg and show these youngsters how to do it fella??? 😀
i thought you hated 2 strokes cause i remember back in the day you were always riding thumpers and one year you switched to 300 with not so good results. im glad i was wrong!
Shite mate! $10K there... the bloody thing is $17k+ here in Australia. 😞
what elevation are you typically riding?
Would be great if you done the same with a sherco aswell, straight from " the horses mouth "
he would have nothing bad to say! :)
billy bolt braaappp
Lol. I think everyone puts the screws in backwards on these fans.
Rides for KTM- best bikes ever
Rides for BMW- best bikes ever
Rides for Honda- best bikes ever
Rides for Sherco- best bikes ever
Back on KTM- best bikes ever 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Complaining it takes ages to warm up but you took the thermostat off?
How much higher did you go with the seat foam?
Still wanna see you rip that 500 in hard Enduro!
Xc gearbox??
Yes
Makes you think about how many people may be riding a bike that's down on power and performance because of that simple issue. Shit, I may have had been riding my KTM like that.
Small signs! 😉
I wanna know about the 1st and 2nd gear ratio
How much for the DK race edition?
Quick question, regarding the offset bearing, I struggle with the front end on my sherco which has lots of similar parts to ktm, where do you get the offset bearing from and do you have to change the clamps to allow for it or will the standard be ok?

Just say it David, bring back the carb ffs!
No point having a kick starter they only took them off because they wont start on it when you really need it. Cant even roll start the bike if the battery dies.
TSP is the shit.
Wouldnt pull the skin off your pudding.... 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
David, why the preference for low compression head?
I liked it best just on feeling
Give a yz250x a spin. 🏁
david knight not infowars m
steve irland blarp
Spend 10grsnd on the bike, another 2-3 grand to make it work, NO THANKS. The KTM Cualt seen can have them LOL
Ready to race ???? how much extra $$$$ typical KTM group
Waited a long time to get a good used 2019 xc , the last of the carb'd bikes.
