      Just got back from 1st Creek line got to lynx but one was eaten. That's the problem with snares once the lynx is dead he's supper. Also had a wolverine cross my trail on the way home. to dark and foggy to track him.

    Very nice link. Can you tell me how you dispatch, what you recommend? You obviously don’t use a 22 Magnum or rifle, keep it clean. What’s the best way?

    • @muskrat411
      @muskrat411  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just put a snare on a stick put it around its Kneck and choke it out. It looks terrible but the lynx is dead in less then a minute. Plus there is no blood to clean up. That is the most popular way up here. Be better just to snare them in the first place but you loose so menny to canibals and other predictors when lynx are dead in snares.

    • @muskrat411
      @muskrat411  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      For Eastern wolves #5 should be.plenty. Ram my line yesterday some wolf hunters followed my line and sprung my trap. Got one lynx on the part of the line no one bothered. Lots.o f wolves hunting moose on the southern part. But I was out of wolf traps.

    • @Biglandtrapper
      @Biglandtrapper 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not good someone messing with the trap, hates to even here tell of that. Wolves really doing a number on the moose here, heard tell of quiet a few kill sites last couple years. Little to busy to bother this year, best of luck with rest of your season...

      I have two lines right now one is about 16 miles from town an about 13 miles up and down a creek in the mountains.
      The second is a longer line about 15 miles from town running about 20 miles with room for another 10 or so

    • @muskrat411
      @muskrat411  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The longer line can go all the way to Rogers Sunglasses Creek and on to Lobstick Creek almost into Rat River and the Mad Trappers line. It also goes up two creeks which go into the mountains. On Sunday we saw 35 Dall sheep on the top of the mountain above Black Mountain Creek. But out of camera range. Maybe next video I will do a Google Earth of the line. The long line runs between Husky Ch and the Richardson Mountains.

    i use the number 9 wire for my wolf coyote snares up to 8 feet a lenght then my loop its stiff a good tie wire .its a good wire instead of waisting all that cable .i can make two wolf snares out of the lenght of premade snare by using a lenght of wire instead of all cable

    • @muskrat411
      @muskrat411  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We did a course with Fur Harvesters and he showed us to double our #9 wire with a loop at the end to put our snares through. That was a good easy to set up wolf snaring system.

      They actually don't choke out, they lose blood flow to the head, (it may sound bad but its actually a lot more humane than people think). And have you seen how other predators eat their prey? My god they are left bleeding to death for sometimes hours, and you call us inhumane!

      Trapping is what I do. The hippies have hurt the fur industry so much that to turn any profit you need to trap a lot of animals. Rotten hippies! If they invest there money that they make off the oil industry and mining which hurt more animals than trappers ever could. Then I could trap less animals. Hippies like to pretend they love the earth. But are the worst people.
