Just got my reworked bow from you and it is a fantastic upgrade from the stock bow. I really like this bow. I have about 15 longbows and recurves and this one is one of my favorites. Smooth draw, fast, stable and very quiet. My stock bow was supposed to be 45# and it is 42#. I still love it. The one I got from you is 44#. I only draw. 27" so both are a couple of pounds less at my draw. They shoot amazingly quick with heavy 570 gr arrows. (GT Warriors 500 27 3/4 in. 100gr insert, 250 grain tip).
Awesome contribution. I purchased the same bow recently, then saw your review and tutorial. I will definitely modify my bow riser. Not sure im confident to touch the limbs . But thanks for sharing
Beautiful job doing the rework, snd the bow looks a heckuva lot better too. Wish i could get one from you guys, but I'm from the Philippines, don't know if you can ship here...
You can get a nice Ash longbow made using the same techniques when they made 15th War bows for £225.00 at boston bows in UK then getting a cheap amazon bow made in China. I do like great plains bows to , I might buy one one day.
I've seen in a few of your rework videos that you only go down to 220 grit paper, or 320 after spray coating. Any reason you don't go past 400 grit or even 3000? I reworked my Sage riser, no tools at all, with 60, 150, 400, and finally 3000, and I love the way it turned out--it's insanely smooth now. I'm considering one of these PMZ's for my daughter, and would do a similar rework on it after testing it out. Thanks!
It's when the bowyer puts a bevel on both sides of the limbs on either the belly or the back turning it into a trapezoidal shape. Trapping the belly of a longbow makes the bow faster and smoother as it reduces the tension felt when drawing the bow. Some bowyers put a trap on the backside of the limbs. I personally see no advantage to that. In my opinion that lowers the performance
This issue Amazon might be selling PMZ a knockoff of a model some knockoffs or factory rejects as to why one was so bad under a different seller and why I rarely buy items sold by second party unless like a book from anywhere or clothing from USA sellers or non knockoff/clone like brands being sold by a seller. I when buying my brothers all fiberglass one piece English longbow 60 pounds I bought from one seller on Amazon as others online Amazon or online were selling either an older takedown model maxed out at 70--75 pounds (newer, model middle is galvanized or low end stainless steel for heavier models) or claiming model was made of pure resin/cast resin not fiberglass Reisin also model I bought is one of few brands of about 2 now selling up to 120 pound models and others are selling bows are only up to 100 pounds and other sellers were only 70--80 pounds before whereas when I got my brothers bow in 2022 it was a max 100 pounds before higher weight so I did not trust other sellers because of issues fearing brands were knockoffs of a cheaper Chinese model bow.
i think it takes a lot of nerve to buy this then take it to a custom boyer to rework it. To me its like bringing my own steak to a restaurant and asking them to cook it so i can save money.
Thanks Nik for the video. I'm enjoying all your videos and content!!!

Have four of these from Amazon. Even tiller is very good for 3 under. All shoot great. Quality is great.
Nice pointer !!

Loki must think he’s a pitbull as needy as he seems.
Will you be doing the a Royal X8 re work? Thats the Sanlida recurve.
Most likely
Awesome work! Did the reworked bow get a GreatPlains coin?
No, we wouldn't want to put our brand on those.
@@greatplainsbow I would at least say on bow reworked by Great Plains Traditional Archery in description. on lower limb.
@@caseysmith544 Nik writes "Reworked by Nik Branstine" on the bottom limb of all them
Don you guys make the tomahawk bows for 3 rivers
What grit of sand papers do you use on your refinishing?
Everything from 40 grit to 340
Can you recommend a finish for the bow riser after reworking?
What are you spraying on it at the end of the video?

You said "this doesn't have a trap". Forgive my ignorance but what is a "Trap"?
It's when the bowyer puts a bevel on both sides of the limbs on either the belly or the back turning it into a trapezoidal shape.
