    just wanted to share a way of memorising these amino acids that i found a while ago.
    1) first memorise the 5 well known aliphatic amino acids in order of complexity:
    Glycine, Alanine, Valine, Leucine and then Isoleucine.
    2) now, remember the sequence 4-3-2-1 and observe this sequence down the list in the following:
    Lysine= -(CH2)4-NH2
    Arginine= -(CH2)3-NH-C(NH2)=NH
    Methionine= -(CH2)2-S-CH3
    Cysteine= -(CH2)-SH

    3) Also, recall the "kinda-alcohol duplicates" of Methionine and Cysteine
    Threonine= -CH(OH)-CH3
    Serine= -(CH2)-OH
    4) now, observe how "A" comes wayy before "G" in english alphabet and how "1" comes before "2"
    Aspartic Acid= -(CH2)-COOH
    Glutamic Acid= -(CH2)2-COOH
    Asparagine= -(CH2)-CONH2
    Glutamine= -(CH2)2-CONH2
    5) Now, we get down the aromatic amino acids.
    -CH2-(C6H5)= Phenyl Alanine
    Add an -(OH) group to the para position, and we have =Tyrosine

    Now, instead of a benzene ring, attach a -(benzopyrrole) to alanine and,
    we have= Tryptophan
    If you attach an -(imidazole) to alanine, we get= Histidine
    6) The last one is the only secondary amino acid, which is Proline and easy to draw

    There's no reason to hate chemistry with this channel. Hope you can also tackle courses like pharmacology in the future. I just wanna say I'm so grateful from the bottom of my hypothalamus that I've discovered this channel. Most channels require textbook reading to understand the topic. This channel doesn't require any intensive book reading. The information are so condensed (90% of a particular topic found in a textbook) and the explanations are just RIDICULOUSLY simple like my textbooks say I'm dumb but this channel makes me a genius lol Keep up the great work. If I can subscribe for a thousand times, I wouldn't hesitate to give all that to this channel 🙌

    All aminoacids are polar: the alfa-aminogroup is the + pole and the alfa-carboxylic group is the - pole: thus a dipole! What is non-polar is the R group, the lateral chain for example the lateral chain of Ala is methyl, so as the difference in electronegativity of C and H is small, and also the symmetry of the radical, it doesn't make a dipole. The student, teachers, professors should always put enphasis that the A.A.'s classification refers to their lateral chain.

    So it's not memorising. It's learning.
    And what happened to the amino group being NH2, and the carboxylic acid group being COOH?
    You might want to explain why the NH2 is written as NH3+ and why the CA group is written as COO- to ensure your audience understands.
