Dmitri didn't sing, an aria, he WAS the aria. Every single time i listen to this aria, whichever recording, he sets my scalp tingling and i have never heard any singer get so much out of one note as he did whenever he crescendoed through a note. Bravo Maestro. I wish we could turn back the clock 💔💔🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

This later version definitely displays more refinement and polish, though the same passion ebbs and flows underneath.
My first encounter with Dima was when I was a teenager. I purchased an opera greatest hits cassette, and this was on it. I was electrified and speechless listening to it for the first time. It was so unbelievably beautiful. This is really his aria, it's almost as if it was composed for his voice. What an artist.
