My father David played this song for me my entire life. I was born in 95' this song was released in 94'. I found him passed away in his car unexpectedly February 22, 2024... I couldn't be more grateful for the great music he showed me; and the life he gave me. I cant wait to see you again someday Dad. -Zane
I think many would be surprised by how many of us "Older" (55 plus) folks enjoy this music. Having been born in '60, I was privy to true originality and the bands abilities to create something new on a near constant basis. But then the 80's came along and the music went down the toilet......Disco, Rap and big hair bands (Just my humble opinion). And then came the 90's and with it, a great new creative wave hit the airwaves. As far as this old lady is concerned, it was a breath of fresh air.......and a much needed one!!
Born in the late 60s too. I almost hate every song from the 80s. But then, boom, the 90s came and music was great once again!!! (We are not old, we are early Generation Xers). 🤟🏻
@@mariaguilarte3999 I didn't figure I was the only one that felt this way. We spent a long decade wondering if it would return. My faith in musical creativity was restored. What a grand thing it was! Be well my fellow early Gen X-er!
@@dianerobinson5336 the funniest thing is my millennial and my z kids both love the ‘90s music. They playlists sound exactly like mine. We sing songs out loud in the car. It’s amazing.
@@mariaguilarte3999 @Maria Guilarte It helps when you have good taste in music to share with your kids. They will be forever grateful and just imagine the memories they will attach to this music. Unfortunately, like most of us who grew up in our era, we didn't have that same musical bond with our parents. It's a win-win for both you and your kids!!
@@dianerobinson5336 I hated my parent’s music 😂. But now I’m more respectful to the “oldies”. Actually my millennial kid has another playlist with old songs that his grandma loves to hear and sing with him when they travel.
song reminds me of when i was 16 and got in an old jeep with someone 3 years older than me without my parents knowing. he later became a huge part of my life that broke apart later
Not too big into grunge as I used to be but damn this song hits hard, never realized til I saw the lyrics. Reminds me of heart breaks in my younger days.
Everytime I hear this song I just think of playing baseball as a kid or going through the state forest with the family and grilling out allday. Such nostalgia man.
Despite what he hadgone through with his addictions, I still adore and love Scott for trying his fuckin best to conquer them. There willnever be another awesome original like him. May he continue to rest in peace and harmony.
i listened to this with headphones after i got tired of it (from listening too much) and heard a bit of guitar i hadn’t before and now i’m in love with it again
This in among my favorite songs ever, it is deep and strong, it takes me to places far away. Whenever I listen to it, I picture myself riding on a highway, on a ,motorcycle or a car, and I hit the curves at full throttle on the chorus: "Leavin' on a southern train, only yesterday, you lied Promises what I seemed to be only watched the time...go by!! All of these, things you said to me!!!"
Can't get this song out of my head. I listen to it everyday on the way to work on repeat. Then im singing it at work! Guess what im listening to the entire ride home from work😳
Just like Gerry Raferty sang " it was you woman...right down the line" my god you as artists hit the nail right square on the head. Thank you, Court for Short
I wasn't into STP until I saw them open for the Butthole Surfers here in Dallas Texas in 95. Dam! What a show! They blew everyone out of the water! The energy was off the charts. I'll never forget any of that show, but STP imo stole the show.
I agree. I was in Seattle then. How about Bush, and Mother live bone, and Local H, and all rhe bar crawlers! I wil never forget the experiences downtown.
The Nineties were known as great hits such as this song/video. Hard to believe this release by the Stone Temple Pilots is having its 30th year anniversary! Rock at its finest! 100 million YT views! R.I.P. Scott!
This guitar riff has been in my head for days. I knew it was STP but couldn't remember the name. Great song 🎵 It is one of those songs you just go back to. Kinda like driving through your old neighborhood.
I hear this all the time driving home and NEVER knew who it was... Found this song by searching up the few lyrics I remembered by the time I'd get inside
I always wanted to know the meaning of this song, never quite understood all of what he was saying. It's nice to have the internet to go back and look up all these songs I remember and find out. Now I appreciate the depth of this song.
Something about the chord progression and melancholy feeling in the middle of the phrases is so beautiful to me. Makes me cry everytime i listen to it. Imo this is a song to be analyzed in music classes and will go down as a classic in time. It may also be because my mom showed me this song so it has a special place in my heart. Lol Either way, this song draws a very unique and awe-inspiring emotion out that I love.
Another thing, if anyone knows of incredibly unique songs such as this one that break away from common chord structure and chorus form please reccomend. Everyone i know is a huge music buff and loves discussing the semantics of modern songs.
What a beautiful Boy. Talented Boy. So tragic no one showed Him how to be a Man/adult and thrive. Tragic. Such talent and such heartache. I love you, Baby.
This song makes me nostalgic, takes me back to many years ago, Whenever I hear the song, it feels like it finishes so quickly. It should have been longe......why does it finish so quickly ?
Man I agree, but it wouldn't be the same if it was any different( I know, what a profound statement) but the Beatles are like this to, imo, with too many songs

sorry for you loss Zane. Your pop sounded like a cool cool dude.
I graduated in 94 and you couldn't ask for better music. STP, PRIMUS, NIRVANA, OFFSPRING. I could go on and on.
You almost Made me cry
Sad story
I painted drummer's Home at valley vista city of encino ca he was super cool bro
I absolutely love the acoustic riff leading into the song!
R.I.P., Scott Weiland. You were troubled and suffered much, but you remain a rock legend!
I love his voice too!
I was just thinking the same thing.
Need to listen to the acoustic version then
Definitely a song that's gonna be on the soundtrack of my life. Born in the late 80's, and raised in the 90's. Music was bliss
still brings back memroies of Jr. High. this was my fav band back then.
Yes. Yes it was. I was born in ‘90 but I remember my childhood very well, and remember hearing these songs on the radio all the time.
This song a masterpiece of all times . Time passes so fast , still remember when it came out .
Cobain, Cornell, Staley, Vedder all get glorified and rightfully so. But Weiland is right there with them.
Ian Curtis
Agreed....from Seattle...
Nirvana was always too pop for me. Soundgarden, PJ, Alice in chains,Mudhoney FTFW
Andrew wood
unlike cornell and staley, weiland was a massive douchebag. he could sing sure but that doesnt make him any less of a scumbag
Road trips when it was my shift, this song has saved my life countless times when I was tired.
R.I.P. Scott.
just couldnt fall asleep with this playing?

Best song by them. "You lied goodbye"
Idk. Many more. Creep.
The core album was badass.

This song stills kicks ass!!! I hope Scott has finally found peace!!!! Thanks for the music and the memories!!!
Not too big into grunge as I used to be but damn this song hits hard, never realized til I saw the lyrics. Reminds me of heart breaks in my younger days.
not really grunge
much too musically complicated to be grunge. how old are you? I lived thru the whole 80's 90's etc music scenes asshat
grunge is a pretty diverse genre
Benjamin Wallace yea exactly, what a moron, next he'll say bush isn't grunge
+Casimir Actually bush is post-grunge, can post grunge still be consider to be a part of grunge, it might well be.
Everytime I hear this song I just think of playing baseball as a kid or going through the state forest with the family and grilling out allday. Such nostalgia man.
That's awesome
FINALY found the song my dad has been playing in the car 😂😂
why didnt' u ask him
Jimena Lola it's not easy to explain It has happened to me too.
Probably cause liking old shit don't look cool.
@@charlesolson5101 Being an ignorant pre-teen thinking he's cool, ain't cool as well. Grow up.
It's a bitch when the name of the song is not part on the jingle ah! 😂
rest in peace ,Scott.your were the best.
beginning of this song is my favorite part. just the calmness of it before everything.
my high school song with my friends in the car playin this, back then we were young 1994
This is the very first song I heard form this band and have loved them since then!
Despite what he hadgone through with his addictions, I still adore and love Scott for trying his fuckin best to conquer them. There willnever be another awesome original like him. May he continue to rest in peace and harmony.

Such a beautiful song.... beautiful.

Memories of happy and innocent times in high school. LOVE this song!
Blessed singer. Truly talented.
i listened to this with headphones after i got tired of it (from listening too much) and heard a bit of guitar i hadn’t before and now i’m in love with it again
Great guitar here. Dean Deleo was very underrated as both a rhythm and lead guitar player.
Matthew Lebish stfu
Scotty Styles piss off
Have to agree very original voicings and progressions....clever
Actually his brother Robert came up with the riff on an acoustic one day! Dean just added to it.
I've been jamming to this song since it's release in '94. High school glory days! Best music ever!

Uhh... lady gaga?
This song is perfect when you are driving in a Chevrolet Camaro in the highway in the countryside.
Just like Gerry Raferty sang " it was you woman...right down the line" my god you as artists hit the nail right square on the head.

Scott Weiland was the magnum opus of the group
STP oil is good.
Been listening and singing this song over a decade, still get emotional every time 😊
Man… I needed that! The sweet sound of nostalgia
I agree. I was in Seattle then. How about Bush, and Mother live bone, and Local H, and all rhe bar crawlers! I wil never forget the experiences downtown.
