I did the same trip some 7 years ago. I really loved the beach, as it is nothing like we have here in Croatia. Both of course beautiful in its own way.
I have just returned from a European tour which we are now permitted to do here in the UK. I went to Croatia for part of the time and stayed in Split which was beautiful and also took the ferry to Supetar on Brac island. The island was so beautiful and the weather was about 30C which was great . I did go in the water in the Adriatic which was great, cool but very pebbles or rocky beach so for just paddling you would need to wear flip flop type shoes…
@Sue Glen Awww, thank you! It's so lovely to hear from you & to know you're watching our videos! Now you'll know where we are... even if we tend to be a few weeks/months behind with our editing and uploading 😀xx
Heading back to krakow on Friday. Crazy times again it seems ..... I've only just got over my escooter accident from 4 weeks ago . So stay off those guys
We made a trip from Warsaw to Stockholm through the Baltics in 2016. When we got to Riga, it was 30+ °C. Our Airbnb host recommended Jurmala, as obviously you can't enjoy sightseeing in that heat. We didn't regret it at all. Made the same route like you as well. Good to see nothing have changed since then.
Yes it is a great little side trip from Riga. I bet it was a lot busier then especially with the weather so hot. We really liked it there and I got to swim which is always a bonus! 😊
I myself enjoyed to walk 12 km (about 7 miles) from Imanta in Riga to Majori beach just yesterday. Nice part to hike. It is funny with those places called in Latvian. Jūrmala literally mean "seaside" and Sloka is seagull. When I have a day off at work, I take every opportunity to cycle to Jūrmala in summer. The cycle-way along railway is my favorite. I usually go to tortoise sculpture. There are two versions why it is called Majori train village in Jūrmala. One is that a Czar army Major had a mansion here. The second (more reliable) is that local mayor of city Jūrmala had a residence here. Today Jūrmala main police precinct is here as well. Did You know Kennedy family had a villa in Jūrmala before WW II? We wellcome all people here including Russian. Though we firmly remind this is not Russia! We are Latvians! God bless You, folks!
We noticed the cycle path along the train line on the way back and thought that would be a lovely way to go to the beach. I imagine it is very busy during the summer time. Jūrmala was so interesting and we loved the architecture of the beach houses there. A beautiful, relaxing place to visit!
@@FrugalTravellers Oh, yes indeed! It is! Rainis and his wife Aspazia were poets, writers an publicists in late 19th early 20th century. Social- democrats and real patriots of Latvia. Rainis was going for first prime minister office in first elections in free Latvia. There's a museum in Majori dedicated to him. I'd like to meet You in next year, so I can tell more about it. Last Year I met a nice Chinese couple just outside of Riga on that cycle-track. I just like to meet people. No charge or whatsoever. Telling of my nations history is more important. You can address me in internet as well, if that is better.
@@mikuskokenbergs8853 Thank you so much Mikus. I remember we saw a statue of Rainis in one of the parks in Riga. If we do get to return to Riga one day, we'll be sure to contact you. 👍
@@FrugalTravellers it is one of the longest sandy beaches in europe. In a summer on a sunny day it is very busy in the central part of Jurmala. Also there are nice beaches north from Riga, like Saulkrasti ( Costa del sol) :)), the sand there is different and the water level - its quicker gets deep and seems cleaner.
I love your content and don't want to sound rude. Just a little advice. I don't know what camera and lens you're filming with, so I won't go into details. You're good at taking panoramic views, but you very often film your friend at a distance of extreme close-up. Try move the camera back a little to a close-up or medium close-up distance. I hope I didn't offend you. I wish you all the best.
Hello Gaudy. Thank you very much for taking the time to write, and it's lovely to hear that you love our content.. We aren't offended at all by your observation. We are learning as we go with the whole filming and editing process, so really appreciate constructive feedback. This video was made using my Motorola G4 Plus and Canon 9X. Railway station in Riga it looks so amayzing. In the center of Riga. We have a lots of peoples. Who dosen't have any home at all. And Riga we have a big support of that iniccent peoples. They all that people go to the special saparete place there one big company feed that persions for free. Yeah in Riga we a lots off new places to visit. But i dont like it cause i dont live in Riga. Im from richest city in Latvia who are called that city Salaspils. I proud to living in this ricchest city in the world. We have 8 factories. There Latvian also do our product. But for example all that companies are sold. Maybe you can visit my city Salaspils we have intersting botanic garden Biological instititute 8 factories. Football field Swiming pool.
We really enjoyed our time in Riga. It is a fascinating city with such beautiful architecture! How lovely that there is a system in place to support the homeless - that is so kind and caring! We hadn't heard of Salaspils, so thank you for the information! The next time we are in Latvia we will definitely visit! Thank you for your kind comment and for the great information.
What, to same 40 cents? 😄 The price is already very low for anyone from the richer part of the World, no offense to anyone of course. 1.5 euros is really cheap.
To be honest, if we'd known it was cheaper to buy an open-ended return ticket, we'd have bought one... being frugal travellers and all 😂😀 A great tip @Life Improvement Knowhow - thank you 🙏😀
@@FrugalTravellers I've seen quite a few of your videos but since you enjoy yourself so much, I really did not get that one of your goals is to travel very cheaply :) That's great, as it also shows to less fortunate (poor if I may say) people that almost anyone can do such trips and see much of the world. Unless you want to go to Switzerland or Norway 😁😁 but even then there are options. To answer here about my country - it is indeed beautiful, and very different from the Baltic countries, being anything but flat for the most part, at least where I live (Dalmatia). Climate, food, nature, history, all well worth visiting. Sadly, it has become quite expensive for us from Croatia.
Very good. Veru nice. Paldies! Thank joy! Froom Latvija. 👍🌼🙂🇱🇻
Paldies! Thank you too. 😁🇱🇻😁
Thanks for the day trip, loved the building and let’s face it everything
Glad you enjoyed it. We had a wonderful day there. So many pleasant places to discover in the Baltic States. 😁
Swimming in the Baltic Sea, you're brave Lee.
Haha 😂 You have to try everything in life at least once 😜. It wasn't so bad.

Yes, it makes for a really nice day trip. We'd love to explore some of Croatia's amazing beaches - we've heard great things about the islands!

Have you been to the food market near Riga Station? The sights and smells are amazing. A mushroom lover's paradise.
Yes it was an amazing sight to see. The fish section was really interesting too. We'll include it in another Riga video. 😊
