Great shave Josh! I was eyeing those shavettes up, they do look pretty good. I like the post shave feel from the artisan soaps I use, and to that end, I do a super quick rinse to keep as much of the good properties from the soap on my face, hit it with the splash, and that works well for me. Have a great evening!

Thanks Jmac! I am even considering doing what Dapper shave does. He uses the remaining lather and leaves it on his face while he is cleaning his gear. May make a difference.

@@RedBeardShaves you’re welcome!! Yeah, I do that sometimes, especially when I’ve done a shavette shave and it takes a few minutes xtra minutes to clean up and put everything away, I’ll pull the lather out of the brush and apply it to my face and let it sit, keeps my face from getting irritated with the gap between shaving and applying the post product.

Great looking clean shave Josh with a very nice looking shavette, I shall not be doing any bare blade shaves myself, if I was 35 years younger I might have given it a go. What a beautiful lather from 345 and that scent sounds right up my alley, I seem to like a lot of the 345 scents, probably because he doesn't seem to make many dark scents. Leaving the skin after shave "untreated" is a great way to test aftershave feel of a soap, personally I shower after shave so after shave feel of a soap is not high on my requirements, I do the post shave routine after that.👍🤠

Josh, I’d like to share my post shave routine with you. I’ve been doing this for over a year now without any in-grown hairs and rarely any skin irritation. In my opinion, the post shave is very important in maintaining a healthy skin.
    Here’s what I’ve been doing:
After the shave rinse soap off with warm water then rinse again with cold. Leave the face wet and apply wet alum block. This conditions the skin and also gives you feedback on how good the blade/razor combination was. I let the alum dry and then with a warm wet washcloth pat the face removing any alum. Dry the face and then apply a good post shave balm to condition skin. The last step, after balm has a chance to sink in, I apply a splash of choice. BTW, I’m 80yrs old and I also think this routine helps in keeping the wrinkles at bay😎

Hey I'm curious: how often do you use a straight or shavette for headshaves? My skull is somewhat irregular and has funny bumps and angles and I feel like I'd make a steak with my dome if I tried.. do you enjoy a straight for your head?

    • @RedBeardShaves

I have actually only used a DE on my head at this point.

Interesting observation re: the post shave stuff.. I for one wouldn't mind if you dived deeper into that experience, what's working better for you? Great shave, love 345, they've officially taken over Stirling as my value pick

I never really considered post shave before. It has become a very interesting subject for me. I feel that a deeper dive is definitely warranted. To be continued for sure. 345 is such an amazing value that rivals the top bases on the market IMO. I will say that when I found that if post shave lacking a few drops of emu oil, it has brought my skin back rather quickly.

Hi Josh, Love the color of the brush! I will be doing my first shave with a straight sometime next week. Watching you very closely. Best regards, Glenn

Thank you Glenn! Just go real slow and don't even worry about doing a full pass with the straight the first few times.
