Our 3 year old is level 2 and has most of these signs. Hearing your bonus sign has brought me so much comfort as we have the same issue. Our son wouldn't even open his christmas gifts, it took us a week to get them all open and then he wouldn't use them for a few days. We bought him some new PJ's today, and he wouldn't have a bar of them. We've hung them on display in his room and they usually need to be there for a few days before he seems to "Accept" them as his and try them on.

Very interesting. We may might have to try that with Ezra and Simon. Thank you for commenting and sharing! ❤️

    Thank you for your video.
My son was diagnosed just shy of his third birthday. It would have been sooner but we waited almost 2 years on a waiting list. We worked through early intervention that helped with speak therapy and occupational therapy. My son LOVED water bottles (full or empty)and pens (I would remove the ink so he would hurt himself or anyone else) or straws.
    - scream and cries loud sounds
    - hand gestures
    - getting frustrated with feelings
    - hits when over stimulated
    - getting overstimulated in group settings
    -Lining things up

You don’t have to be scared. If you have it, getting a diagnosis might help you better understand yourself. But, remember that just because you do these things doesn’t mean you have autism. ❤️

This is called echolalia, it’s a form of auditory stimming. It can also be repeating noises, song/ song lyrics or scales, repeating movie lines or whole scenes, etc. Using the Gesalt method may help increase his word and word usage exposure, so he can pick up more phrases. Kids with autism learn differently than most kids, he may just need a different approach to unlock that skill. I couldn’t learn sight words, the ‘pattern’ was nonsense, but once I learned phonics and word roots, it like unlocked my brain and I started blowing past other kids reading levels. Even if he doesn’t ever ‘advance’ a skill, he’s lucky to have loving parents ❤

Currently awaiting my 2 year old daughters evaluation, my girl is similar in many ways but also one of her own. All kids are different autistic or neurotypical. I just wanted to say your videos are really helping me get through it all personally. I was an emotional wreck a few months ago, but seeing the progress my daughter has made these last few months along with getting more educated with autism has really helped me. Thank you. Oh and we've finally got our speech therapy referral though, exciting times ahead.

    • @7Aheadfamily

That is exciting news! And good for you for being so proactive by getting educated. It is very emotional for parents to get the news and enter such a new world. I felt like someone had pushed me a in a pool and I didn’t know how to swim. As a special needs parent you just have to learn how to swim and fast. ❤️ so happy you found our channel. I'm 16 and I have autism, and I absolutely hate fireworks. I don't like how loud and bright they are. They are sudden and unexpected, and sometimes they don't pop or have a delayed pop so they're very unpredictable which are a few of my least favorite things. I dread the 4th of July, and new years cause of all the fireworks, but I actually enjoy the look of the dull colored fireworks like roman candles, but those tend to be the loud and one unexpected ones cause you hold them.

You guys give such great advice and insight, ty❤..also the toddler leash thing..totally get how ignorance can cloud ppls judgement but to call it restrictive!!? you guys are literally doing the opposite to give him the freedom to explore whilst still being safe..if you didnt do that his other options, if the circumstances allow for it, would be to be carried, hold hands, in a stroller or rarely go out and adventure and see things...thats restrictive!...Wish ppl would stop and think more lol you guys are wonderful parents💚💚

I also loved the toddler leash when I was a baby (over 30 now). My mom was shamed out of using it even tho it made both her and me happier.
My neurotypical little sister couldn’t stand it. But for me, it was a way that would let me wander but not get lost. It was so easy for me to get left behind or run off in the wrong direction so the leash was a nice way of making me feel safe and knowing that I couldn’t get lost.

Growing up with autism was always a little hard. People would hate me 24/7 and i would wonder “why do they hate me, im like everyone else?” i got called “attention-seeking” bc i say uh/um a lot bc i cant speak correctly. if i dont respond they think im ignorant when im just trying to process what they said. and my stims are “weird” i eventually just wanted to be left alone with no social interaction. everyone always thought i was weird bc i have little to no eye contact. also my struggle with making friends was horrible. I always would be the last person to ever talk to someone in school and had barely any friends. It was hard to keep them but I eventually found my true friends ❤ my school does SEL which is Social emotional learning. I love that they did that bc it helped me alot with my mental health. They even made a feeling journal and grattitude jar. My school is my safe place for depression, anxiety, and meltdowns.

My son is 6. He hasn't been formally diagnosed and is high functioning but has some of these delays. His signs are obsessions with a few focused topics (monsters - since he was 2), delayed speech (didn't form sentences until he was over 3-1/2), choppy/robotic speech now, gets over-stimulated by noises and crowds, likes being by himself (is doing a lot better in social settings now, but still needs time alone). He also needs routines and is kind of compulsive about them. We have a wonderful support system around us and are fortunate that they try to understand him without judgement. It's so hard when someone labels your kid, so I appreciate how important it is that his teachers and friends have positive ways to navigate the quirks and help my son learn effective ways to handle his feelings and behaviors.

New Years is my second fav holiday because I get to watch fireworks via videos all day as each timezone celebrates entering into the new year. Only reason I like the 4th more is I get to be the one to set off the fireworks.

I've only been to the UK for a short one week vacation, to London. But I do have extended family in Whales. I have no idea what it's like over there. I do love how people from all over the world can connect online. I feel it's a great blessing to help us all not feel so alone with what we are going through. We want people to see our videos and see (just like you said) "the good and bad sides of Autism" But mainly just to normalize it. People with different abilities shouldn't have to hide from the world.

The head of the asd unit in school to me it comes across as him trying to make us mask everything and if we don't we won't fit in but that's wat it feels like But idk if that's his intention tbh it would be better if they hired a autistic person for that job but idk if it could get overwhelming so idk

Hi. It's a great video. Odd kids among us. There is some overlapping traits between INFJ and Autism in the sensory sensitivity, empathy and intuition that leads to some pressure on social norms.
That's why I can explain the behavior of an autism. 1. The contentment
He just feel ok since he knows his mother is around, let the mother do the thing.
    2. Speech delay as the other sensory come first.
    3. Hide in a corner actually he does not know the meaning of hide, the real meaning of hide is you won't see him or catch me. It means he is safe and comfort being alone.
    4. Due to speech delay, unusual toys for a typical human, but it is collection for him not quite a toy actually, we just call it an item.
    5. Organize things, it is just a habit by having a collection next thing to do is organized it.
    6. Love varieties or colourful objects. Though the other meaning of it is obsessed.
    7. It is stress environment that need to know each if them. In other words due to his speech problem, he aware what is his problem. 1 to 1 works best, because he can adjust and scan. In other words, a collection of human is very hard as it makes so much noise and movement. Hahaha.
    8. Need time to learn is actually means he needs to capture it in his brain and save it exactly. If you are an youtuber, it is the same thing editing it once or editing the same video many times before upload? Being an idealist.
    9. Different texture here actually means how to bite and how to swallow. As I mentioned above, speech delay causes other sensory faster growth.
    10. For a typical person, we see it unaware of danger. Well it is the love to explore, to be exactly 'love to explore alone' .
    11. Regarding the fireworks, for me it is small. From Malaysia, if any festival, we drive there and see it in front of us, the bigger picture the 3D effect. Sorry to say, it is not exciting. You can watch youtube Chinese New Year fireworks in Kuching Malaysia by 'journey with the jongs'
and 'Sibu Chinese New Year Fireworks 2022' by O2 Cinematics.
    12. The throwing, it is the hoping of it can move. Anyway it is just some bad habits, you need to guide him with round things can move, flat things not move. Explore it with different sport, so that he won't apply it to household object or on food.
It depends how skillful of parents to move one step ahead.
    Hope this helps. 👍♥️

I've watched quite a few of your videos. My son is 2 & a half and has been diagnosed with level 3 autism. He does tick some of the boxes & I'm not in denial, I can see there is something wrong, but I question if he has been misdiagnosed as there are a lot of things that don't fit into this diagnosis. He is nonverbal & does not eat food as he has sensory difficulties, can become overwhelmed by sensory in public places aswellas strangers, does hold his ears, he does self-harm by headbutting and has emotional meltdowns. The things that don't fit, he loves other children, he does interact, he has normal muscle tone, he responds to hand gestures, I could go on. I'm just wondering about your opinion from one mum to another. Could it be something else that is mistaken for autism or am I just crazy in denial & uneducated in this topic

    • @7Aheadfamily
      @7Aheadfamily  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Very good questions. If you have concerns it is always good to get a second and even third opinion. However, having the diagnosis will help you qualify for more treatments and help. If he starts improving quickly all the better, but having the diagnosis will only help you get him more support and hopefully improve faster if that makes sense. Not sure if you saw this video on the subject...

I'd like to talk to you again. But about autism, the last time was fine but I was so out of it and a lot of it. It's not bad, but this is for kids pretty much in some of it is really rough and. My education was the worst education. You know, maybe people had other bad experiences, but mine was bad. The way they test me for autism was horrible and I don't know why I cause. I had all these symptoms myself. You know, my brother said that he had symptoms like Simons. And answer it cause. I showed them a few videos of you guys, and he said you were like that. You know, maybe they were more focused on my physical disabilities. But I like to talk to you a lot more about my education. And how horrible it was, if that's something you're interested in. But but I'm doing good now and you know, I just got a good job. I'm outside of work for a while but you know, I could stay out of work for a little bit longer but I needed a a job

Getting your child tested for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) can help you and your family understand your child's needs and how to support them. My daughter is 3 years old and will be 4 in April 2025. I’m not sure what to think but we are waiting for an evaluation. She repeats what she hears and pronounces them very well but she doesn’t talk directly to us for ex: “ I want water”, “ mommy come here”. She says “daddy” and runs to the door when her dad comes home but doesn’t call him randomly if she needs something. She has never called me “mommy” to get my attention. She just leads me to what she wants. She gets frustrated when I ask her to repeat after me, even though I know she can and has said these words before. I would give her instructions and she will follow, for example: “go put your shoes on”, “close the door”, turn off the light”, “ throw this is the garbage”. She’s not a very patient child, she will get irritated waiting in a line (doesn’t understand wait your turn), she runs everywhere and is extremely active in public, running away from us, running up to strangers, grabbing them to lift her up and laughing at me bc she thinks I’m playing a game by chasing her. She loves to climb and jump off of things. She loves water, loves getting her hair done, has no issues with food texture or clothing. She can dress herself. She plays with specific toys the way they’re supposed to be played with, ex: drive a car and make car sounds, pretend play with her Barbie’s, or play kitchen, etc. she started putting her finger in her ear for loud sounds or any toys that make sounds. Her brother who is 5 yo. Used to do this a lot and we had his hearing checked. He was mildly deaf. Middles ear infection caused it. I think she may have the same issue. She can dress herself. She can sing songs, she knows all her shapes, colours, can count, name animals, name fruits and vegetables, name all 8 planets. I just don’t know what to think. She’s starting school next September and I just want to help her so much before then.

@ hi, here is an update. My daughter was diagnosed today with possible moderate ASD and ADHD. The doctor who diagnosed her said it’s hard to tell bc she has fluid in her ear and that could be causing her to not respond. She said she will go ahead with the diagnosis anyways. The doctor said in case our daughter is misdiagnosed by them, it can always be updated on her file. We are waiting to see the ENT that our family doctor referred us to. In the meantime, our doctor prescribed us with “Omnaris”, a nasal spray to help dry out the middle ear. This was the same thing that happened to our son and he turned out to be fine w/ no diagnosis. His speech and hearing improved after the doctor prescribed a nasal spray, after finding out he was “mildly deaf”. He is now in preschool and no complaints or worries from his teachers. I’m hoping they’re wrong about our daughter but if this is what she has, we will accept her either way. She is extremely smart and makes us all laugh. I wouldn’t change her for anything. I hope this helps. I also googled what can be mistakenly diagnosed as ASD. We have to advocate for our children. I just don’t believe it’s ASD, maybe ADHD, yes, because she is extremely busy. I don’t believe a simple 20 min observation can be determine, I believe time will tell. However, still accept the programs offered just in case.

These videos are very helpful. My 2yr8month old son has just been diagnosed with a speech delay so will need speech therapy and OT. He is saying heaps of words and some short sentences but cant really communicate in terms of answering questions/receptive language. He repeats words a lot too both in and outof context. He has been going to daycare for 6 months and they are concerned he hasnt made any social connections with other kids, he only plays on his own or parralell to other kids. He has had health issues that meant he has been on immunosuppressive meds tho so he hasnt mixed with other kids much so that obviously has delayed things for him socially. Theyre saying he needs a chance at the therapies first as its too soon to tell if he could be on the spectrum. He has a lot of behaviours that dont point towards autism eg. He makes lots of eye contact and isnt bothered by loud noises, loves watching trains on youmtube but wouldnt melt down if we turned it off etc. On the other hand he refuses to hold hands and will not walk with us, he wanders off so its so hard to tell!

You’re right! Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by 3 specific challenges in social interaction, communication difficulties, repetitive behaviors and a range of different strengths and differences. It is considered a spectrum disorder because it can manifest in a variety of ways and to varying degrees of severity. Autism affects individuals differently, and each person with autism has a unique set of strengths and challenges. Although these are some things that were evident from our kids, this is only scratching the surface. 😊 That’s why it’s always necessary to see a professional for a diagnosis.

I know this is old but ignorance on this level needs to be called out. You’re completely missing the point of why “new age psychology” is important. It’s a LOT more than just trying to categorize odd behaviors in children. Recognizing and treating a learning disability at a young age results in a dramatically improved quality of life as they become adults. It can allow them to actually integrate themselves with society rather than being social outcasts. Just because you don’t understand something doesn’t mean you should fear it, especially when it’s a field that gives children a fighting chance at living a normal life. People that are dismissive of progress just because it challenges their dated way of thinking are of no benefit to the rest of us. The most important thing to the human race is our youth, and your stubbornness has you attacking something that directly benefits them. How sad is that?

Autism isn’t being odd. Plenty of them act ‘normally’. It’s just different brain structures and socializing.
