EVERY song released by the KLF as a single was a hit. EVERY SONG charted to at least #5 in multiple countries. They are the Bill Russell of the music business. Championship level, every year.
The KLF are two British artists, Bill Drummond and Jimmy Caughty, from, Scotland and Manchester. They were really an vehicle to create artistic statements, and with this one they managed to get Tammy Wynette to agree to sing on the track. They have a habit of popping up every ten years and pulling off some sort of event that grabs the headlines. They were filmed burning £1million on a Scottish Island, and got the media who turned up to do some sort of Druid dance around the standing stones on the island.
Tammy Wynette RIP the first lady of country music. She had so many amazing hits such as 'Stand by your man' and 'D.I.V.O.R.C.E'. As an Aussie kid growing up in the 80's her songs seemed to cross over to mainstream.
Wiki these guys. You will be blown away by what they did in such a short time then threw it all away by design. Have you ever set fire to 1 million British pounds cash? Art.
I'm sure one of them was from Scotland, they may have been working in L'pool Drummond was a record promoter and all over the place. They burned a Million quid as an art exhibition.
The KLF were brilliant house music artists. They were among the first to bring cross-artists into a collab. "Stand by the Jams" is a take on Tammy Wynette's, "Stand by your man" well worthy of a reaction and it's unlikely you haven't heard that phrase. She created that idea in song.
perfect reaction for this song, from someone that's been listening to it since the 90's.... I felt all your feelings back then.... but I was aware of Tammy... which was a huge shock to see her apart of something so out of her element.
Aaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy!!! I've never been so happy! It's hard to see what I'm typing thru the tears, but just thank you sooooo much for reacting to this. I have to go blow my nose now. Thank Mu for the KLF & Tammy Wynette!
Totally bonkers … the KLF were nuts and Genius at the same time. This was a major hit back in the day. Insane dance floor hit … those were the days. Cheers 🍺
Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you! I would not have remembered this song, if you gave me a year to name 3,000 songs I have heard in my life, but I am so glad you brought this back to me!
The dance floor used to flood when this came on. Whenever asked what the one song I’d want to be the only song I could only hear this is it! Such a great mix of music elements!
The KLF released one of the greatest ever chillout albums called Chillout:0 Full of great tracks. They also deliberately set fire to and burnt a million pound cash in 1994, prob the equivilent of $2.4million in todays money. In later years they regreted doing that!!
But we’re still talking about, which is a lot more than their peers of the same era. I’m also very grateful to own the chillout on vinyl. It’s an incredible record 🎉❤mu mu
Great to see you're dipping into the 90's Skeez, so many bangers from that era. One you should check out is The Shamen - Ebeneezer Good or Move any mountain which has a tragic story re one of the band members while filming video.
LOL.. Love your video :) You made me smile when you didn't know who Tammy Wynette was.. I'm 60 and back in my day, she was a household staple. :) Yes, I grew up in a redneck household but at least my mom liked Fats Domino and Clarence "Frogman" Henry.. :) Keep up the good work.
I know I’m already piling on some comments that have been made here, but I feel like I have to say: I’m a fifty two year old, this some came out when I was twenty or so. It *blew out minds* and I’m glad to see it’s having the same effect on you. For some context: Tammy Wynette doing a song with KLF was a mashup simply unheard of back in the day. The fact that they made it work was amazing.
The KLF are funny guys. Tammy Wynette was a country music icon. I love the way the lyrics contain the story of why she's singing with them. Super meta. My favorite video of theirs is America: What Time Is Love. Here's a convenient link, Mr Sceez: th-cam.com/video/O_253-HURY8/w-d-xo.html
When they split, they deleted their entire back catalogue, but some old vinyl and CD's can be found at fairly high prices. I reckon that they had much, much more to offer. Such a shame.
You thought you were listening to church music; that's because it is church music, coming from the church of the KLF! This song is preaching how the Justified Ancients of Mu-Mu (Lemuria) are going to bring chaos (to the music industry, and the world) "If you don't like what they're going to do; better not stop them coz they're coming through". "From the outset, the KLF adopted the philosophy espoused by esoteric novels The Illuminatus! Trilogy, making anarchic situationist manifestations, including the defacement of billboard adverts, the posting of cryptic advertisements in NME and the mainstream press, as well as unusual performances on Top of the Pops." (quote from "Wikipedia"). The KLF's works are a deep (rich multi-layered tapestry) rabbit hole, most all of their songs on "The White Room" are references to the book/s, "The Illuminatus" Trilogy.
With all respect. They shouldn't have burn all that money though. Call it art. However, could've thrown it to people that needed it. Just my opinion. This song is a banger though, no contest.
Tammy Wynette = Stand by Your Man. Only the most country song ever... KLF-well, they're just the Justified Ancients of Mu-Mu, more of a performance art tongue in cheek joke than a band, but they did make some great music. I recommend listening to their other project The Timelords.
That is Tammy Wynette, and regardless of who you are, that woman deserves your respect
That's for damn sure. These kids today haven't got a clue.
Makes me cry to see the children feeling these powerful feels ❤
Roger this!!
Yes, that is the country legend herself, Ms. Tammy Wynette. The KLF had another big hit with "3am Eternal"
Also, "What Time Is Love" & "Last Train To Transcentral"!
@@ami3627 also +++k The Millenium K2,
America (What time is love?)
and Timelords-Doctorin' the Tardis

They're justified and ancient and they drive an ice cream van! Haha 😂😂 🍦🍦❤️❤️
This band are also famous for setting fire to £1 million pound of real money on panorama on the BBC

1989....think about that
'Fishin' in the rivers, fishin' in the rivers, fishin' in the rivers of life.'
Poetry on the dance floor in '89 lol
Huge hit in UK back in the day…sadly I am old enough to have swung my shoes on the dance floor to this groove! Great to hear again 👍😊
You and me both 🤣🤣
Same 💜
Hey Dan, you from the UK? If so, ever go to Shanghai Sams in Peterborough?
@@LeRoy_from_Texas Hi, yes I’m from the UK but never been to Peterborough I’m afraid , I don’t live near there.
I remember buying the 12" of all their singles. Good times! ❤️❤️
Shit is DOPE AF to this day....! Can't be touched
I still love the KLF!

Singing about the ice cream van trade in the uk
@MrChooChoo well yes, but despite that she's still bigger than anyone from the 90's onwards.
The KLF were brilliant. You should try America: What Time is Love? or Last Train to Transcentral
America what time is love is terrible compared to the original version called what time is love
@@douglastaggart9360 Probably a question of taste. I thought it was better 😀
@@douglastaggart9360 it's totally different but I still like it. It's heavy as f*CK though! ❤️❤️
the uk version what time is love if you watch it also last train to transcentral

Elon Musk does that and much more every time he presses launch on one of his rockets lol
I was 20 years old when this came out, I loved it then as I do now.. Brother, the woman you mentioned, I think her name is Maxine Harvey. Peace.
2 dudes from Liverpool, UK made this all up back in the 90`s and STILLL...
Only one was a scouser, the other was Scottish
@@AT-ll25 OK, thank you for this information; my bad.

Biggest band of 1991 from England teamed up with country singer legend Tammy waynette to create this no.2 smash hit
Tammy Wynette was a country music icon - which is what made this pairing so weird, yet so epic!
I loves me some Dolly but Tammy's voice grabs my heart every time.
The KLF will gonna rock you! Yes, Yes, Yes!!! 🤘🏻😉🤩
Aaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy!!! I've never been so happy! It's hard to see what I'm typing thru the tears, but just thank you sooooo much for reacting to this. I have to go blow my nose now. Thank Mu for the KLF & Tammy Wynette!

The best of British way can I say for set tammy of course
This is the KLF, two UK musicians fiddling with Discordian magick in an attempt to prevent 9/11. Obviously, the failed.

they thought they were getting dolly parton but got the names mixed up lol
Have reactors videos reacted to Bone Thugs N Harmony yet? Glad the kids get to hear what 90s talent sounded like. Best stuff!
Probably not one to react to but chill out by the KLF the next time you need to just relax and drift off.

Song's older than you buddy. Yep, there was good shit goin on back in the day.
This version is not the Original. TW is not on the original and if memory serves me right it wa a male lead vocal.
I have the CD with a additional CD of this song...
You are so disrespectful. Tammy Wynette was country music royalty.
Bro, get checked other song's klf , otherwise keep mount quiet ❤
The song is about the ice cream van trade in the UK
