Tír na nÓg, home of the Tuatha Dé Danann, ancient Irish gods. It's amazing how much of the western world's mythology comes right from the ancient Celts. Banshees, pixies, fairies many others were a part of old Irish, Scottish and Welsh tales. If Amber is really interested in her Celtic heritage she should read up on chars like Cuchulain, Finn McCool, Cormac mac Airt and so many others.

A great Irish group to react to is The Corrs. A family group who were huge all over the world. Runaway is a good song to start with. They mix Irish folk and pop and it’s a great mix.
You guys need to try out Enya and also the band Clannad ( Enya’s sister is the lead singer) if you love that Celtic cinematic type music! Enya did the theme song “May it Be” for one of the Lord of the Rings films. Also Loreena McKennitt “The Mummers Dance” is a great one, or her version of “Greensleeves”

Soo glad you're doing more Celtic Woman!! A rabbit hole you NEEEED to go down!!!!! Their line up changes, but they're always amazing!!! Try "Nocturn, I See Fire, Amazing Grace, A Spaceman Came Traveling(it's a "Christmas carol"), The Fox Hunter & Shenandoah (violin solos), Teirs Abhaile Riu (live at Morris Performing Arts Center it has the violin & the dancers). It's a real cute one. The blonde violinist, her name is Mariead, always wears split skirts because she hops & dances around the stage & doesn't miss a note!!!!
Absolutely love that you guys have returned to Celtic Woman! They're so good. If you're interested in more like this, you should check out Celtic Thunder. Specifically their performances from The Show in like 2008.
I love Celtic music. You have mentioned trying to find music back in the 50's and older my parents listened to Count Basie, Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey from the big band era 30's into the 50's.
We had the pleasure of spending a couple of weeks in Ireland about five years ago. Nothing can you prepare you for it’s beauty and culture! GO if you ever have the chance!
Guys, you have to hear some Lindsey Stirling! If you love violin, know you’ll just adore Lindsey. Any song by her is awesome. I love Celtic Woman, too. I love traditional Irish and Celtic music. Thanks for this reaction! Since you are into Lord of the Rings, thought you might like this one as a good sample of Lindsey’s sound. th-cam.com/video/AuJnvC8voJY/w-d-xo.html
I'm so glad that you listened to Celtic Woman. I got the chance to work with their former producer for some projects along with one of the singers. They didn't know they were going to make it on their first PBS special back in 2004, but so many people around the world fell in love with their music, so they've been touring and performing for almost 20 years.
You would like to see performances such as Riverdance, which contains lots of Celtic music and quite a bit of Irish "hard shoe" or step dancing. This is extremely difficult and well done.
Celtic Woman is an amazing group. I hope you will continue down that rabbit hole. They have a number of songs that are not as strongly tied to the celtic culture that have a beat that Jay may like. While going down the celtic path. Another group you could check out is 'The High Kings.' Their rendition of the parting glass is still my favorite.
The Corrs is an Irish band consisting of 3 beautiful and talented sisters, and their brother. Their most popular song is Breathless, although they have several other hits

Thanks for the little Memory Trip
Both my wife and I have very strong Irish roots - my last name is Conroy and her maiden name is O’Conner. We have been lucky enough to have visited Ireland together five times, and I was able to go there another half dozen times or so on business. A truly beautiful and magical country. My fathers parents both 7:577:57 immigrated to the US in the early 1900’s, and I still have a cousin there in the western part of the country on my fathers side. She was able to take me to the remnants of the house where my grandmother was born, and I have pieces of stone from the remnants of the foundation of that house.
I saw them once in concert and was impressed. Once was enough. I didn't go to another concert because the first impression was so good I didn't want to take a chance on being disappointed.
My first concert was Pat Benatar, February1981. It was a high energy concert. It was so good that the audience refused to leave after the band left the stage and the arena lights came on. After 10 minutes of chanting, Pat and her band briefly appeared to thank us for the encore. After that, it was diminishing returns. She still put on good shows in 82, 83 and 89, when I saw her, but by 1992, she had dialed it way back. It is that way with a lot of bands. Presently I love BABYMETAL. Nothing will match their September 2016 Tokyo Dome concert. Amuse Inc. probably went into debt putting on that show and we are unlikely to see a show of that magnitude again. In 2013, when Nightwish appeared at Wakken, Floor treated the appearance as one great audition. It was a magical show. She has since dialed it back. So, there was logic in seeing Celtic Woman just once.
I was confused by the thumbnail at first because there was a folk group called Tir Na Nog back in the early 70s so I was expecting a track of theirs. Luckily I really liked this tune and your reaction so it was still a win!
If you love Irish music you have to check out the Chieftains especially with Sinead O Connor The Foggy Dew ,a clue it is the same battle mentioned in the Cranberries song Zombie "" It's the same old thing since 1916 in your head they're still fighting." Blessings

Love the Celtic Woman addition to Female Friday. Please consider Karen Matheson as a Female Friday addition, Karen is one of Scotland's Best singers as lead for the band Capercaillie. I'd recommend you look at "My Love is Like a Red Red Rose". Her voice is truly beyond compare. Her Version of "Amazing Grace" sung in Scots Gaelic will bring tears to your eyes even though you don't speak Scot's Gaelic.

These Ladies make some Beautiful Music that hearkens back to more classic Folk Songs! I did buy one of their CDs some years ago after hearing them just once! Great Choice Amber... Very much liked it! :) Have a Great Weekend You Guys! :)
A note about languages: The term Gaelic refers to two languages, Irish and Scottish; what you're hearing here is Irish Gaelic. The term Celtic refers to the larger family of related languages; it includes the Gaelic languages, but also Welsh (spoken in Wales), Manx (spoken on the Isle of Man) and Breton (spoken in northwestern France). I find all of the languages incredibly beautiful; I'm learning both Gaelic ones. Here are some suggestions for more music: Ashley MacIsaac, "Sleepy Maggie" (in Scottish Gaelic) Choral Scholars of University College Dublin, "Mo Ghille Mear (My Gallant Hero)" (in Irish Gaelic; sick beat drop in this one) And you really should hear the Chieftains; they're the most important band in all of Celtic music. Their song featuring Sinead O'Connor, "The Foggy Dew" is about the Easter Rising of 1916. Not to be missed.
I'd recommend The Corrs, "Runaway", Clannad, either (No Matter Where You Go) I Will Follow, or Down By The Sally Gardens. For some Canadian Celtic content, try The Rankin Family, Fare Thee Well Love, or anything by Leahy, or The Barra MacNeils, either Darling Be Home Soon, or When I'm Away From You.
The main distinction between the violin vs fiddle is in the genre of music played. Violins are primarily used in classical music and jazz. Fiddles are violins set up for playing folk, bluegrass, country, and other similar non-classical music.
If you guys like the sound of Celtic Women than I would recommend especially around St Patrick's day to keep an eye on your public tv channel. They often will feature one of their concerts during one of the channels fund raising drives, and guys it's step dancing not tap.
you guys ought to consider playing the interval of The Eurovision Song Contest from years ago which featured the first sensational performance of 'Riverdance', it's absolutely incredible and very Irish..
Love, love, love. They are amazing. Ride On, is too cool. Wow you two are so open to new things, good. Thanks for this one, Citizen Queen, you don't have to react just listen. Thanks again.
The violin/fiddle player is named Máiréad Nesbitt there are many videos of her solo. Shenandoah is my favorite. One thing that girl commands the stage when she plays.
Thank you guys, I loved your reactions and you both have beautiful perspectives, I enjoyed you both so much that I just had to suscribe, thank you both. Love from Ireland xx
I’m sure someone has said this . This is a song about a human man falling in love with a Fae female he goes with her to a land where time doesn’t touch him. He misses his people and says he wants to go back to see them. She can’t change his mind but she gives him her horse and tells him not to let his feet touch the ground because he will die. He does as he’s told but a boy jumps in front of his horse and he jumps off to help the boy. When the man touches the ground he begins aging he falls to the ground but tells his tale before dying and turning to dust.. I have a bunch of music if you click I have a playlist called Old if you want to listen. I have very eclectic taste in music. I think your man would like my first song on my list.
Tír na nÓg (cheer na nōg) in Irish legend is the "land of eternal youth". If you want to really experience your Irish culture, listen to their version of Danny Boy. You must also learn the lyrics & sing along every time you hear the song, or you won't really be considered "Irish"! Another powerful Irish ballad worth a listen is Sinéad O'Connor & The Chieftains version of "The Foggy Dew"... it's hauntingly beautiful! Slán!
Mairead Nesbitt describes herself as a fiddle player. My wife and I have seen three of their performances live in the Tampa Florida area, and all three were wonderful.
An Irish songstress you really must listen to is Mary Black, one of the greatest voices from the Emerald Isle. Song for Ireland and Bright Blue Rose are a must.
There is also a song by Van Morrison called Tir Na Nog from his album No Guru, No Method, No Teacher. Check out his song "In The Garden" from the same album - you will love it.
Tír na nÓg was the land of youth and was the Otherworld home of the Celtic gods and other supernatural creatures like elves and fairies. In traditional Irish music or dancing the instruments used are fiddle, Bodhrán(drum), flute, tin whistle, harp, accordion, Uilleann pipes(Irish version of bagpipes), and Concertina.
Lots of people are talking about Lindsey. She is incredible but if you want to really see how great she is - she was in dwts with Mark ballis. She played her fiddle while Mark was flipping her around during their freestyle! I just watched it a couple days ago. Always a treat

I love The Unicorn song, it's cheery and delightful
I sang every word of this song!
You have, once again, chosen a sample of my favorite show group. They have a long lineup of excellent songs. Thank you. Try "She Moved through the Fair", or Dulaman".
These Ladies make some Beautiful Music that hearkens back to more classic Folk Songs! I did buy one of their CDs some years ago after hearing them just once! Great Choice Amber... Very much liked it! :) Have a Great Weekend You Guys! :)
They are amazing in concert. Check out their Christmas concerts especially.
Here are some suggestions for more music:
Ashley MacIsaac, "Sleepy Maggie" (in Scottish Gaelic)
Choral Scholars of University College Dublin, "Mo Ghille Mear (My Gallant Hero)" (in Irish Gaelic; sick beat drop in this one)
And you really should hear the Chieftains; they're the most important band in all of Celtic music.
They are an Irish band, all Gaelic language and culture comes from Ireland
The main distinction between the violin vs fiddle is in the genre of music played. Violins are primarily used in classical music and jazz. Fiddles are violins set up for playing folk, bluegrass, country, and other similar non-classical music.
If you guys like the sound of Celtic Women than I would recommend especially around St Patrick's day to keep an eye on your public tv channel. They often will feature one of their concerts during one of the channels fund raising drives, and guys it's step dancing not tap.
Such musical talent.
Tír na nÓg is sorta kinda like the Gaelic otherworld. I think the translation is land of youth or something like that. Gártha....
you guys ought to consider playing the interval of The Eurovision Song Contest from years ago which featured the first sensational performance of 'Riverdance', it's absolutely incredible and very Irish..
Absolutely!!!
The title of this song translates to Land Of The Young. This is refreshingly different.
Then there’s Clannad and Enya… and the fabulous Mary Black.
A witches coven. This goes really well with Fleetwood Mac lol Sooooo much music, modern and otherwise was influenced by Irish music, the runs for one.
Thank you guys, I loved your reactions and you both have beautiful perspectives, I enjoyed you both so much that I just had to suscribe, thank you both. Love from Ireland xx
Tír na Nóg is the only Irish phrase in this song. Oonagh made up the rest of the words in the chorus, inspired by Tolkien’s elvish languages.
Have yall ever done Enya her voice is like an angels please please check out evening falls would be a great women's Friday's reaction
I have a bunch of music
if you click I have a playlist called Old if you want to listen.
My wife and I have seen three of their performances live in the Tampa Florida area, and all three were wonderful.
we went to see Riverdance years ago. Watching them be able to do that while playing the violin was mind blowing.
An Irish songstress you really must listen to is Mary Black, one of the greatest voices from the Emerald Isle. Song for Ireland and Bright Blue Rose are a must.
Great reaction! For next Celtic Woman, suggest The Voice: best vocalist , the violins. And great drums.
There is also a song by Van Morrison called Tir Na Nog from his album No Guru, No Method, No Teacher. Check out his song "In The Garden" from the same album - you will love it.
If you can catch one of their live specials you will not be disappointed.
You can tell J is a sports fan by the way he pronounces Celtic
You guys always make me smile but this ❤️ reaction just made me smile really big!
One of the songs by Celtic Woman that you really should check out. You'll Never Walk Alone. This is just such a Beautiful song.
This is such a great song. Would love if you both could also react to Loreena Mckennit - Highwayman. She's a great singer and harpist.♥
or do Bonny Portmore
Mummers Dance
Lots of people are talking about Lindsey. She is incredible but if you want to really see how great she is - she was in dwts with Mark ballis. She played her fiddle while Mark was flipping her around during their freestyle! I just watched it a couple days ago. Always a treat
