Ah you guys went to Maunawili! My aunt and uncle live right by there and it’s probably my favorite place on the island. I think I went at least once every day, usually every morning before all the tourists showed up, with my cousins the first time I visited. I’m the youngest by about 10 years so they would carry me through the mud. It was there that I developed my love of cliff jumping. I’m so glad you guys went. It’s truly beautiful.

Oahu looks AMAZING. Was it quiet? In that last ariel shot I was like "Where are all the people??" Love the idea of a grown ups only family get together every few years, might have to start that tradition with my kids when they are older!

Tate what side of the island do you recommend staying at? I've never been there but will be going next month with my family and i dont know where to book our stay! It looks like most of the activities Hailey did were east of Honolulu. I've read that Waikiki is too crowded that the North Shore is better. Would love to have a locals recommendation!
Sandra Lemus Waikiki is definitely crowded but if you wanna do more of the touristy stuff that’s then Honolulu “town” is where you wanna stay. There’s plenny places to eat and lots to do in Honolulu. If you wanna see more country then north shore is better if you can afford to stay on that side. But if you can’t afford it then I’d recommend to stay in waikiki and then just make day trips to the north and east side. Wouldn’t recommend staying out west just because it’s far from everything and there isn’t much out there. So like Aulani and four seasons is at the beginning of nanakuli on the west side. West side definitely has the best beaches on the island though. Definitely watch the sunset on that side but just be careful at night lol. Kaneohe/Kailua is on the other side of the mountain in the east and I don’t even think there are hotels mostly like condos and airbnb kine. But the east side is super beautiful definitely recommend going on that side, there’s plenty beaches and shops to check out, look outs and hikes, but it’s very windy and rainy on that side most of the time so please be careful. Hikes can be very muddy. If you do wanna hikes there’s plenty in Honolulu town, Manoa area. Honestly I’d say just to stay in Waikiki and make day trips out to the west, north, and east just because it’s easy and really nothing on this island is far lol. But if you can afford to stay on the north shore then definitely do that. Turtle bay is the main hotel out there. If you want any recommend spots for hikes, beaches, and places to eat lmk. Please be careful in the ocean and mountains Hawaii is gorgeous but can be very dangerous. I hope you and your family has a wonderful and safe trip!
