My sister and I loved the OG. We watched it over and over and over again. We knew all the lines and paused and rewound the VHS so many times trying to find hidden stuff. We knew all the characters names. She went to Heaven 10 years ago, and now she's joined by Bill and Dusty. We watched Storm Chasers on the Discovery channel. I remember countless stories of us taking cover in our basement in Illinois when tornados came through. Once it was just her, I, and our dog home alone when a tornadic storm came through. Once in 2004 we had a tornado come through our home area and cause devastation in the next little town over. We went out and surveyed the damage. The year before she passed, she went down to Washington, Illinois to help out with the tornado victims there. I'll be watching this thinking of her.
That's the only thing familiar. And they shouldn't have done it! There have been other movies about this. Just make it your own, and leave the classics, alone.

@nathanmcdonald610 nah, it'll be fine. The main character will have trained tornadoes that will help take down the super tornado. I know I'm joking but I wouldn't put it past hollwood to make this a thing in the future.
I have lived in Oklahoma most of my life and I am 23 seconds into this and I already have a problem. Tornadoes do not sneak up on you. We have some of the best meteorologists in the country working in this state and we are informed way in advance. This isn't an earthquake, it's a moving weather emergency that our weather people train just for shit like this. We do not go to or even have rodeos during tornado warnings, nor do we go to the drive-in. (first movie) I'll watch the rest, but I just had to say. Nope, give me Bill Paxton or go home.
The first movie was all about them creating the advanced warning system of today. I’m sure it’s largely fictional. But the drive in movie happens before Dorthy flies. I’m pretty sure Helen Hunt’s character said they had no warning for that storm. In 2024 to have a tornado sneak up like that wouldn’t happen. The first movie works so well because it is set in a timeline before advanced weather technology.
In 1969 that wouldn't happen. Warning or not, we Okies are smart enough to come out of the rain when the sky gets green and the wind stops. No wind, no rain, dead still, you better be in a shelter. Hollywood thinks Okies are stupid, so it's insulting. Considering most of them would wet themselves over a 40 mph wind, let alone a real twister Thunderstorm happen before tornadoes. Downpours with high winds and frequent lightning. When do we have a rodeo? After the rain stops and the wind dies down? See the above comment. Yeah, we have had electricity in Oklahoma for a while now and we did pretty well before Helen Hunt

Also maybe kids will see this movie, find out there was an original, go watch it, & get inspired to become meteorologists or storm chaser dudes. Nature is awesome!✌️💚♾️
Never judge a book by its cover, and never judge a movie by its trailer. I wonder how many people were saying the same things about "Top Gun - Maverick" and the original "Top Gun" in the weeks leading up to the sequel's release. (Funny coincidence that Glen Powell was also in that one, and as much the same kind of cocky hotshot character.) How many of those same people are now saying the sequel was better than the original?
I agree, I admit I do miss the 90s and the films (especially the horrors) BUT I will admit I do like a lot of the newer films too even if they ain't as good as the originals, they are still entertaining 😊

I only have one critique. If you're at any sporting even or anything, everyone has a smart phone. You're telling me that nobody got a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning on their phones? For them to get the siren for a tornado when it was like 1/4 of a mile away, then that's not realistic. That even would have had notice long before that tornado even gotten to them.

Hollywood thinks it's funny to be self aware about how low effort all these remakes and endless sequels to beloved titles from the 1990s are. Kind of like how in Jurassic World Dominion, in a conversation about Jurassic "World" Jeff Goldblum remarks...Not a fan! As if to wink to the audience that they know Jurassic World is shit compared to Jurassic Park.
Yeah, saw that, too. Very unrealistic, and surprised they left that scene in there. That close in, there would be extremely high winds, which would destroy surrounding structures...and that sign before the truck would be sucked up like that. Makes me wonder about how good the rest of the movie is if they can't get a scene like that right.
Why is everyone hating? I love the original twister the most, sure. But this movie was sooo AMAZING. Like, probably the best one I’ve seen in a while. Alright?
Went to watch it a couple weeks ago. F-ing phenomenal loved it 20 out of 10 I always had a thing for storms loved the adrenaline rush it gave me. I still love going out and watching the storms come through. Oddly enough the same time I watched this we had probably 30+ tornadoes touch down in upstate ny in about a month span. Whereas usually it’s 1 or 2 microbursts ripping the tops of trees off every few years. Weather here is very strange right now. Non stop rain, thunderstorms, and the tornadoes are relentless. A town 30mins from me got hit with the remnets of an EF2 about 2 or 3 weeks ago. They just got slammed again yesterday. Rome Ny was the target of the EF2 and it’s hard to explain how much damage it did. Buildings leveled completely, a church’s chapel just plucked off the roof like a butcher plucking feathers off a chicken, the roof ripped open. A historic brick building spread over the street in a block or 2 span. Trees everywhere down. I saw footage of the actual tornado and it’s something you’d see down south like Texas or something. Just absolutely massive. Ny needs sirens and to educate people. Only god knows how bad next year will be let alone the rest of this summer.
i have to say i've experienced a tornado crossing over a bridge...i thought it was just a squall line of storms moving through...boy was i wrong. it did lift my truck some as i tried to accelerate but went no where. I will remember that day forever, i was frightened.
I remember being a child and my parents got a new big screen tv....circa 96'..97'. The box that the tv came in was huge. Twister just happened to be on the tv guide after my dad set the tv up. My sister and I hid in the box from the tornado on the tv. Good memories. I hope the movie doesn't flop!!!
I hate how in these Tornado movies they can never get the actual logic of how a tornado works correctly. A tornado doesn't just appear you KNOW it's there. and how everything that is super heavy is blown away and the people are all perfectly fine. Being someone who loves tornados these movies really hurt to watch.
I allowed my 8 year old to watch the original a couple of years ago...he hasn't stopped talking about tornadoes since.....sorry haters this proud Dad is definitely taking his son to see this on the big screen 💯
Bro, I was obsessed with the original since I was like, 5, my dad had an old VHS tape, he found a tape player at some garage sale and I watched Twister with him religiously! That was like, 2012, I'm now 17 and stoked for this new one!!!
Pretty sure a tornado wouldn't strike completely unexpectedly like that 😅 There's always "Severe storms possible" warnings days in advance and "Tornado Watch" warnings etc. If people wanted to have the rodeo anyway that could happen but an "Oh no! We totally didn't expect this!" level chaos is highly unlikely.
Yeah that was my initial thought too, like, I can forgive stuff that's unrealistic, it's a movie, ones got to be able to suspend disbelief to a degree, cars/trucks being thrown but not people, it makes no sense with physics but, that's Hollywood, I can look past it for the sake of it being a movie and not wanting to be overly critical and ruin the fun for myself, but, when I first saw that part my initial reaction was "Did.. they get jumpscared.. by a fucking tornado? You can see in the second shot the thing is very well established already, did NOBODY in that crowd see the giant fucking tornado already on the ground in the background and decide "heyyy.. maybe we should call off the rodeo and take shelter" until they started feeling the wind? I mean, I get tornados come unexpectedly in real life sometimes, Rolling Fork proved how dangerous they can be at night last year, especially if people are asleep, like, in that circumstance I can understand not knowing it's coming until it's too late but, that said, tornados aren't exactly fucking subtle, unless one happens in the middle of the night and occurs spontaneously right by your town you're probably gonna have a pretty damn good idea it's coming--
@@anonymousmink5027 especially since there are plenty of real idiots that are shooting ACTUAL tornado footage from their doorways..... right before the thing hits!. I mean they know how this stuff goes down.. they are just fx show offs!

Like many other films that were great, "Twister" did not need a remake. Talk about trying to re-milk movies that should be left untouched. Update: Okay, “the joke is on me.” It’s not a remake, but a sequel. Now that will keep me awake for the rest of my life. I immediately called it a remake when I saw footage of Dorothy being used all over again, (which would now be low tech). So sue me. But aside from that, even if it’s officially named a sequel, what I saw on the trailer is basically a rehash of the original film. And BTW, I haven’t seen the movie and I already can’t stand the smug, know-it-all, I’m a pretty boy attitude of the character played by Glen Powell. Ugh. This movie will have 2020s special effects. But I’m willing to bet it will be more of a remake than anything else, even if supposedly it’s dubbed a “sequel.” I really hope I’m wrong.
I had to watch the trailer to see the scenes filmed in the downtown area of my hometown. The trolley that gets tossed, and the “Reno” water tower that collapses are 2 scenes in my hometown of El Reno, west of OKC.
I thought that might've been the town. I wonder how the people felt about Twisters being loosely based about their tragedy, knowing that wounds are not fully healed?
Okay, so after watching this movie, I'm here to let y'all know the trailers are rage baiting and taking away important context. This movie is so much better than I thought it was going to be! And it is actually pretty scientifically accurate, minus a little Hollywood magic and suspension of disbelief.
I'm pretty sure the writers of "INTO THE STORM" will love to see this trailer, considering there are several scenes that are almost identical to that film, including the firenado and the anchored truck to the ground and the unprofessional tornado chasers.
tbf its based off of real chasers, most chasers have anchored trucks (the TIV and TIV 2) and some don't go to school for it, just do it as a hobby. I suppose you could call that unprofessional
Of course, we all know that most sequels don't (subjectively!!!) live up to the original. I mean, they can't ALL be "The Rescuers Down Under" or "The Godfather II" (III?). But that doesn't mean that they can't be great, awesome, etc., in their own right. ^_^ I think that of a LLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTT of sequels -- even DTV Disney sequels, LBT sequels, & "The Secret Of NIMH 2"!!! -- & "Twisters" is definitely no exception to that rule. 😊 ❤ I am DEFINITELY going to see this one! (And then get the DVD & Blu-Ray!) And I'll also say this -- this is, without a doubt, one of the BEST modern trailers for a film that I have EVER seen!!!! ❤
Yeah, okay. Winds moving extremely heavy objects mere yards from humans that are still able to stand. Riiight. They could have at least *tried* to make it believable.

Of course the CGI will be more impressive than the 1996 original, but the CGI isn't what made the original great. It's about the characters, the actors that play them and the chamistry between them. We loved the original because it told a very human story of loss, trauma, love and hope. Helen and Bill had genuine chemistry together and did an amazing job. The (at the time) great CGI was just the icing on the cake. Why do I feel like this remake has lost all the human warmth?
I wasn't expecting to like this nor did I want to because of the original.....however, it's every bit as good as the first one and better in some ways. I just watched the original the day after. Both brilliant
This feels disrespectful. I got it's supposed to be a sequel and not a remake. But this trailer showed remade scenes from the original and didn't feel like more of a continuation. Having Dorothy was enough to shut it down for me.
Canada records the second most tornadoes in the world after the United States. The average number of tornadoes per equal area of land is highest in the southern parts of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario. Canadian Tornado Alley Roughly half of all Canadian tornadoes strike the Canadian Prairies and Northern Ontario as far east as Lake Superior. Together, these regions make up the northernmost border of the U.S. Tornado Alley. Tornadoes up to F5 in strength have been documented in this region. Last Sunday we were going to the movie. A few hours earlier saw a twister forming east of Regina, Saskatchewan. Years ago I got stuck under an overpass while on patrol. Mud was falling from the sky and the rain was so heavy I couldn't see 5 feet ahead. Another year had to respond to a van and trailer on top of an overpass overturned by the wind sheer. So much damage I had to chop the windshield our with an axe to get the family out.Same time my mates had to attend a construction yard where an Atco trailer was picked up and slammed one poor bastard into another trailer. He lived. Almost forgot Country Thunder in 2019. Tornado warnings and massive storm blew in and we had to shut down the concert. 30 of us soaked and taking shelter in the mens washroom. Looked like this video! We don't wear Stetsons much anymore. Mostly ball caps which don't work for shit in the rain. Gonna get me sooner or later.
@@anthonyskorupski The perfect example is 10 Cloverfield lane. There it was! The first teaser trailer out of nowhere. Inside was a nice little bunker and people doing family friendly stuff ,with the *i think were alone now* song. Untill the last 15+ seconds i think. Music changes and the vibe turns 360. But not giving much away. THAT is a perfect trailer!
On one hand, I get the reference, on the other, it feels almost bittersweet, and I have a bad feeling the film will make it into a "Oo look scary tornado that's killed chasers oo" rather than showing the actual horror of that event. I get it's a movie and they don't wanna kill the mood but, that's one tornado that seemingly had a genuine bloodlust for anyone pointing a camera at it (its unprecedented expansion to nearly 4x its size in minutes, it's seemingly random accelerating/decelerating ground speed, it's very odd/unique path compared to most), and it's kinda sad if they downplay it and the deaths it caused for the sake of making money from the few who'd know enough to get the reference
I have an issue with 3:15. I ain't no expert, but if you're literally a foot away from a car that gets tossed/sucked up the way the trailer showed it did, you ain't running from that. Usain Bolt couldn't get away from that. I've seen that literal situation happen before. R.I.P. the stranger I saw get sucked up like that. Never found the person's entire body either. Just pieces of them.
That we know of. The girl mentions in the trailer that she got Dorothy wrong. It is the original design. Wonder where she got that considering that it was bills original design and that there were none left at the end of the original. I have a feeling that she is indeed related.
I just want to know who sat in a room at what production studio and was like "yeah, twister needs a remake." Twister is one of my favorite movies but I'll say it, them being able to pull off a movie about chasing twisters and it was successful is a one and done.

didn't know I watched movies to know a 2 sentence summary. it's almost like movies are meant to be watched to be entertained.
And your problem with that plot is? That sounds like a solid premise for a plot to me.

After seeing what Hollywood did with the Jurassic namesake I fear greatly for what they'll do with Twister and this trailer doesn't exactly inspire confidence in me.
@nathanmcdonald610 nah, it'll be fine. The main character will have trained tornadoes that will help take down the super tornado.

"We've Got Twins! Twins!" Yes, but do they have sharks?
I have lived in Oklahoma most of my life and I am 23 seconds into this and I already have a problem. Tornadoes do not sneak up on you. We have some of the best meteorologists in the country working in this state and we are informed way in advance. This isn't an earthquake, it's a moving weather emergency that our weather people train just for shit like this. We do not go to or even have rodeos during tornado warnings, nor do we go to the drive-in. (first movie) I'll watch the rest, but I just had to say. Nope, give me Bill Paxton or go home.
🆗
Lived in Enid for a while. We always saw tornados predicted up to a week out.
How did you like them running to take cover under the overpass?
Helen Hunt Just Shook Her Head At This
I can see why!!!
And Bill Paxton is rolling over in his grave.

She wanted to direct this and she also wanted a diverse cast, but she was turned down
Bill Paxton (rest his soul) probably turned over in his grave. We had a masterpiece in 1996…should have left it alone.
I know ya'll are butt-hurt bc you miss the 90s. I miss the 90s too, but they're never coming back, guys. It's time for us to embrace our present & future. Just give the movie a chance. Maybe it's trash, but we can still all have a fun time watching it with our loved ones. You can always watch 90s Twister later to cleanse the palate. I don't see any way that this movie will be anywhere near as good as Twister, but I'm still going to see it & give it a chance.

For them to get the siren for a tornado when it was like 1/4 of a mile away, then that's not realistic. That even would have had notice long before that tornado even gotten to them.

After watching the longest 5 minute trailer filled with non stopping action and thrilling breath taking moments... I STILL prefer the original
I just watched the Blu Ray.
3 words: Over the top.

Ugh.

I'm pretty sure the writers of "INTO THE STORM" will love to see this trailer, considering there are several scenes that are almost identical to that film, including the firenado and the anchored truck to the ground and the unprofessional tornado chasers.
I swear Hollywood has just ran out of good ideas for a decade now
Into the storm was super mid though. This looks incredible
tbf its based off of real chasers, most chasers have anchored trucks (the TIV and TIV 2) and some don't go to school for it, just do it as a hobby. I suppose you could call that unprofessional

This is just a remake of Twister
Right smh
No it is not.
@Vahlee-A it is if u seen the first one you would know
Now, this would be cool if he is the son of Dr. Jo Harding and Bill Harding.
Standalone sequel. Do your research.
Me watching this trailer when I've already had to sit in a real tornado shelter twice this year. 😂
Hollywood and their predictive programming
I liked the part where the Tornado said, “It’s twisting time!” 😂
No tribute to Paxton or Helen Hunt. Wtf is wrong with the writers
That we know of. The girl mentions in the trailer that she got Dorothy wrong. It is the original design. Wonder where she got that considering that it was bills original design and that there were none left at the end of the original. I have a feeling that she is indeed related.
Also Phillip Seymour Hoffman RIP 🙏
Why would there be for Helen Hunt? She is still alive.
There are no steak and eggs?
it may be...be patient 😂
Nope. They gonna add Vegan shit this time... no joke about "didnt you see my cow's" to be found here...
I just want to know who sat in a room at what production studio and was like "yeah, twister needs a remake." Twister is one of my favorite movies but I'll say it, them being able to pull off a movie about chasing twisters and it was successful is a one and done.
This movie is gonna make Into The Storm look like it deserved an oscar.
"Where's my truck?!?"
The ending scene of the original movie. Was made on a farm in a corn field of the small town of Kimball south Dakota. Just east the small town of Chamberlain SD along the very beautiful Missouri River. My great inspiring wisdom for today. Have a great fabulous wonderful day.😀
Twister 🌀🥴
Use to rodeo in Chamberlain years ago.
Nothing beats the original movie and cast. So realistic 👌
the OG movies cast at least looked the part to be experts.. this here? Shitty bunch of braindead children CLAIMING they have an idea and understanding wich they CANT HAVE!
I can't wait to see it. i grew up watching the first Twister movie.
Same here. I'm going to see it the day it comes out.
A lot of people on here hating and not excited for another tornado movie. I used to watch the original movie all the time when i was a kid, so Im excited to see another one.
LAME....1996 TWISTER with Bill😢 Paxton is WAY better.....No need for remake....
If you haven’t seen my comments in several replies, ITS NOT A REMAKE!
@davidrothrock1625 why though. Opinion or you got a source
