Today as we had our first exposure to a solo track from Joey Bada$$ and it’s about time that we tapped into this artist. Joey Bada$$ really knows how to draw you in with his delivery and conscious lyrics and the best part about this is that he wasn’t even in his prime as we get the younger version out there ripping mics! Steez got a special place in my heart. 9:15, the "nowadays for respect you got to pump lead" got 2 meanings: shooting guns and being an entertainer/rapper (pumping lead like mechanical pencils)
We need more Capital STEEZ reactions. STEEZ literally taught Joey how to rap and they always tried to one up each other in their featured songs. His world play was out of this world! Y’all would be amazed at his lyricism start with “Free the Robots” also Hardknock from this 1999 mixtape is amazing as well as KIlluminati ft Capital STEEZ

As an older hip hop head I have grown to appreciate Joey. Songs like Waves, From da Tomb , and Hardknock really show how good Joey is and the fact he was 16 -17 when he put out this music is crazy. Very heavily influenced by Boom Bap rappers from the 90’s.
The best song to listen to after this one would be Joey Bada$$ - Survivor's Guilt off his 2000 album from last year - it's about his feelings on Capital STEEZ, who committed suicide, really powerful and memorable song and would be cool to see the difference between him then and now

And then he sarcastically compares Pokémon not getting recognition at Comic-Con to people not getting respect they feel they deserve unless they commit to violence (This just emphasizes how recognition for murder and recognition of the card game are at a similar level of casualness)

Steelo aka Captial Steez Was in my personal opinions one of the most lyrical and spiritual rappers that ever walked.... he took his life and left us and joey before he even got to blow up fr... song like Free The Robots, Dead Prez, black petunia the list could go on he had so many tracks that were just that shit.... Joey made a few songs about steez like survivors guilt off his new album to back when he was apart of his group pro era (i think he still is in it im not sure) they dropped like water, the video is a tribute to steez and had him on it personally one of my favriot songs ever.... please show some more love to steez along with joey huge inspirations in my life and love what you guys do man-- Enjoy Vacation cant wait to see yall back

Steez was more talented than Joey, but mentall illness is brutal. I was always impressed by even his earlier songs, like Stars, when he was still young and a bit pudgy. A legend, regardless. Died too early, and never got his shine.
