- Indian students who complete their Doctor of Medicine degree from a Philippine College of Medicine, will be eligible to register and practice medicine in the Philippines. The Philippines has opened its doors to global medical education aspirants too.
In a landmark move, the Philippines has announced a policy change that will significantly benefit Indian medical students pursuing their MBBS degrees. A recent amendment to the Philippine Medical Act of 1959 has been approved by the House of Representatives, paving the way for Indian students, including those from foreign, to register and practice medicine in the Philippines.
This development comes after several years of persistent requests from India, recognizing the Philippines as a top global destination for medical education.
A core group of the affected 21 medical schools in the country lauded the House of Representatives for approving a crucial provision of House Bill 10145 or “An Act Providing For A Philippine Medical Act, Repealing For The Purpose Republic Act 2382, as amended, otherwise known as the Medical Act of 1959,” allowing for the registration of foreign medical graduates of Philippine medical schools.
“The Acts in Congress in recognizing the need to revamp the old Medical Act of 1959 is indeed laudable and very timely,” Atty. Julito D. Vitriolo, the group’s principal legal and technical consultant, told the DAILY TRIBUNE in an interview on Saturday.
“The approved amendments in the House of Representatives is long overdue. It’s about time the government, through the executive and legislative branches, adjust the demands of globalization so that the Philippines can attract more foreign students, representing also foreign direct investments, which is consistent to the thrust of the present administration to increase the level of investments in the country,” Vitriolo, a former executive director of the Commission on Higher Education, added.
Vitriolo is also hoping that the government’s executive branch will fully support the influx of foreign students, especially those looking at the Philippines as an education destination.
“We would like to maintain our status in medical education. We should look at it [influx of foreign students] in a positive way because we benefit from these Indian medical students,” he said.
“So, here, it only shows that the government is responding, and this will encourage more foreign medical students to study in the Philippines. This is good for the country,” he added.

If this is the Scenario, what will happen when Indian students appear in PLE to get the License to Practice Certificate, which is a must to apply for FMGE or Next Step 1 in India as per NMC Gazette of November 18, 2021.

Better settle in Manila. After Philippine licensure exam my friend is going to settle there. He said he prefer Manila than going home to Bihar.

The government wants students to get the mbbs degree from countries which allows you to get license. The government wish to assure that in case students wont be clear FMGE in India they will have an alternative in future. And if govt would ask you to acquire license you have to give PLE

12 K , Higher Secondary Pass with P C B
No B S or any Pre Med is Required
NMAT or NEET Score Card if recommended by Medical Board, then
Direct M D Admission
5 years M D Course program
12 Months Internship
Then P L E passing is a must to get a Valid License to Practice at Par with the Local Filipino Citizens from the P R C - Professional Regulation Commission of the Philippines
to Apply for the FMGE or Next Step 1
Without Valid License to Practice Certificate Indian Students with M D graduation from the Philippines will not be allowed to apply for the FMGE or Next Step 1

Because thats where they make most of the money. The actual fee for BS course is approx 1.2 lakh,but these people charge more than 5 lakhs and keep the rest.

Its already approved bro i was able to and download the pdf regarding that from official ched fb page that they already changed it to 54 months course

I went to ched and prc and they said nothing has changed and they will still rely on reciprocity law and the news which has came out is just a proposal not yet law and they are seeking reciprocity from india ! Without that they cant allow indian students to take ple and register 😢 nothing has changed still same ! They said !
And bill has passed only in House of Representatives not yet upper house not yet approved or singed by president not yet official gazette not a law yet .. so maam please confirm ur sources and guide us well !
U should fly in manila talk to those head of PRC and head of CHED then u should only comment ! Then u can actually know whats going on ! CHED said they still gonna comment regarding reciprocity ! Best of luck guys !

You need to take PGI to be able to take the licensure exam. My friends did and are now going to take Licensure exam. I dunno how it was not possible for u. I am happy though there will be a lot of Indian doctors in Philippines. They will be joining in Manila but they did their post grad in Cebu

Don't go to the Philippines for mbbs guys. Teacher student ratio is very high. 500 students will be there in one class. Some colleges even have 900 above 😐. They don't even teach us properly. Intership is not there only clerkship is there. During clerkship we are just like peons, we don't even see patients 😅 After realising all these I dropped the course. I completed BS after MD 1st year I dropped the course. I don't want anyone to face the situation I have gone through. So please choose carefully. I was feeling relief when mbbs from the Philippines from 2021 was considered invalid. But these money looting agencies are trying their best to change it. Please don't fall for this trap. I'll comment on each and every post about this topic.
