Using this video tomorrow… I will wash it good with the Dawn/Super-clean mix and dry… I will go with chop top and heavy cut 50-50 for the top side toe rail with my DA and wool pad… then polish it up with a foam pad and Jescar… wipe everything down… I will do the interior with Jescar and find a drill detail brush to save time and energy with the seats… Thanks Drake…

24ft cabin cruiser planning on doing wet sand process 4 step. Wet sand, heavy cut, med cut, polish…do you recommend 32oz for the compounds or should I grab the gallons…also aside from the wet sanding should I be buffing and polishing my boat every year or should a maintenance polish keep me where I need to be. I live in NY where we only have about 5 months of boating season
No You won’t need to wet sand and buff it out again for awahile. Remember there’s only so much gelcoat layer on there to begin With . Then you hit the primer underneath… so no won’t need to go in heavy unless you leave it in direct sun and don’t wax then oxidation will be back in 5 years or less . just keep adding wax and touching up the areas as needed.
Drake I’m a long time follower. In the past you really seem to like Starke and Menzerna products. How would you compare say Starke Elevate or Menzerna 400 to the Shine Supply products? For instance Shine Supply Chop Top is similar to what in the Starke line. Thanks
Chop top is similar to menzerna 400 and Starke elevate. But I would say chop top is far better than both products. It’s a bit dusty but that’s because chop top has zero fillers. It’s an amazing product
We typically run wool pads at lower speeds to allow a better and deeper cut. Anywhere from 600-1800rpm. 600 being on the heavier cut side, 1000-1800 being closer to the medium cut compound side of things.
I have a 31’ center console with heavy oxidation and scratches. What 2 step products you recommend and required pads? How much product of each will I need
shinesupply.com/collections/marine-products Here’s a link to the products I love ! if it has heavy oxidation and scratches, he will need more than two steps. Heavy, cut compound, medium, cut compound, then polish, then seal. I’d recommend shine supply heavy, cut on a white wall pad with a rotary, then shine supply chop top on a yellow wool pad on a rotary. A polish shine supply wake up, then seal it up with Jescar power lock. All of the products can be found in my link above. At checkout, feel free to use my discount code: DRAKE15
Hey bro, would you ever just do a one step of Menzerna 400 for inside gelcoat? Or you always finish up with Jescar? I have alot of clients that i find the inside in great shape and want just a "one" step.
Hi drake, been trying to get in touch to ask a few questions if that would be OK. I'm from the UK I tried messaging your Facebook page but it hasn't been received, thanks if you can help. The videos are great and teaching me a lot 👍
Hey Drake. Love the videos. I am struggling with some very stubborn water spots on an anodized aluminum t top. What would you recommend to get these off? Is WSP your go to?
I’ll need to be carful on anodized aluminum, you can try wsp but it’s hard to safe if it work or not. Try it, if that doesn’t work you may need todo a light polish work a 3 inch gray force lake country pad on a rotary using menzerna 400
If you can, remove them. If they are the kind you can’t remove, either invest in a mini machine or just work your buffer right in there, and clean out all the snaps later 😎
For pricing purposes (per foot / per step), how many total steps are we looking at here? Is it three: 1) wash and wax package, 2) cutting, 3) polishing or am I missing a step (e.g., clutch application). Thanks!
Thanks Drake for another great instructional video! Just a question about products. Are you thinking that the Shine products may replace Stark in you lineup? Also do you think any of them compare to the jescar ultra lock plus? Just looking to decrease the number of options to consider. Thanks

If the boat is sitting inside and not coming into contact with the rec, UV, then the wax will last a very, very, very long time.
Wish you were in California ... I have an Ocieanis 55 that would need you touch
I am in Cali! Ha I’m up In Redding CA
What do you recommend for sealing the chrome/stainless after a polishing?
Either a good ceramic coating, or a polymer sealant just like you would to the gelcoat
Can you buff over the numbers and registration sticker?
Yes you can. Just use a tad bit lighter pressure than when you normally do it
You did another video which you used muradic acid on the bottom to get the freshwater gunk off, what was your dilution ratio?
I use it straight, very carefully, scrubbing it really good and then rinsing it very quickly
What happened to using that purple pad that you used in another video?
Whats difference in this application between Slick Back and Wake Up?
Wake is a polish and protectant meant to rejuvenate a current coating- Slick back is a primer polish that you do right before you apply your polymer sealant or ceramic coating to help it adhere better.
I have those same grey and green under amour shorts 😂
Nice haha
What camera are you using? Thanks
Canon m50
Hey Drake, I am noticing you are straying something before compounding, I am wondering what that is. Water? Rubbing Alcohol?
Typical just a wipe down before buff, then before I apply the cylinder, ceramic coating, I typically do an alcohol wipe to remove any excess oil.
how long did it take you to complete this accommodating ofcourse your filming and testing?
Hey bro! I believe I did this one in a couple of days
What’s the benefit/difference between the polishers?

What is a price tag for this kind of job?
I charge $15 per foot per every step I do
why does the shine from polishing dissapear after 3-4 months on boat in sea??
It’s the UV from the sun that dolls down the surface, you need to keep up, waxing and sealing the boat in order to protect the surface from getting faded by the sun, it’s not so much the ocean.
Would you travel to South Lake Tahoe or do you only stay local?
