Sylvester Stallone, Mickey Rourke, James Caan, Al Pacino and Harrison Ford were considered to play axel foley. They would have been good. But Eddie Murphy did it better. And he was perfect for that role. The closest that Stallone and rourke came to Beverly Hills cop was movies like cobra, tango and cash, Rambo trilogy, judge dredd, demolition man, pope of Greenwich Village, Harley Davidson and the Marlboro man, sin city, the expendables, and get Carter.

Classic film. However, I love the fact it was a film bout a Detroit cop but all Axel's friends were white. He had no other love interest and didnt get Lisa Eilbacher's character in the film. Had Stallone been in the film, she would've definitely been his love interest. Hollywood has never been comfy with a black action macho hero unless he's funny.
