Griffin was one of the few reasons I tuned in to ESPN on a daily basis. He’s intelligent, funny, insightful. I hope some other network will pick him up.
ESPN has become awful. RGIII is a great commentator on college football games. You get MBAs from Harvard running Boeing and ESPN and both companies becomes shells of what they once were.
I was in high school when ESPN let Rich go. It was a different world (no social media, internet was an infant of its current version etc) so I don't recall it being spoken about in any big way that I saw or recall. But Rich and Stuart were easily the two most memorable/favorite Sportscenter hosts of my childhood and him no longer being on any of the shows felt like a loss even as a 16 year old or whatever I was. RG3 is nowhere near that level for me, but losing a (good) job sucks and I wish him luck all the same on his future endeavors.
RGlll is everything you want as a human and a commentator. A huge mistake by ESPN! Another network needs to snap him up quick. RGlll is a real one, super entertaining and insightful. Fans see this for sure.
leaked recordings of rachel saying remarks about malika being different skin tone and getting better nba jobs at espn because of it. Political incorrectness BS tbh...I totally agree with you
@@tengilleUm, yeah how bout Rachel’s been around and knows what she’s talking about unlike this other chick who we’ve never heard of and got a job because of skin color instead of actual credentials, talent or skill.

RG3 is the man. Being a fan since the Baylor days played you on the old NCAA. You stay true to you and your people love you. Wishing you the best on the next season of life
Man RGIII is super articulate, he's able to take an emotionally charged situation and talk through it with so much class and clarity. You never would've seen this side of RGIII outside of being a first round bust out of Baylor if it wasn't for his stint at ESPN.
How does this work? I read that RG had one year left on his contract. I also read that they are paying both him and Sam Ponder who also had a year left on their deals. So how is this a cost cutting move if they are still paying them? Would it not have been smart to just use them this year, then dont renew their contracts thus not losing any money? or do their contracts read that yes they get paid this year for not working , but its a lessor amount? When they say "buy out their contract" is that was that means?
They felt like putting them on the air was a bigger drop in revenue than keeping them on the air. Paying them is cheaper than them potentially tanking viewership which cuts into profits. I'm not saying they are right, but that is the logic.
Look ESPN and Fox Sports are basically going to become televised podcast networks. Why? It's a fixed cost to them. They'll go to other podcast shows like they did with McAfee and give them a lump sum of money for a certain amount of years that they license the show. Then it's up to the show to employ talent and produce the show. Overall it might save them money, but more than anything, they have a fixed cost. I think that's why Jason Kelce signed with ESPN. The moment Travis retires, ESPN is probably going to license New Heights with the ability to use them both on other shows like how Pat is on College GameDay. I mean, not necessarily a bad idea. Most of ESPN's shows feel like copies of their other shows only sometimes with different personalities. Now they'll have show they already know people like based on how popular they are and we get some variety.
Podcasts have become a lifeline for a lot of people who are getting fired by these bullshit networks. Don't be surprised when the podcast become more lucrative and the networks run out of options. Podcasts generate great money with less overhead.
ESPN is 'too big to fail' ... There a plug and play ecosystem. It’s so crazy it’s like dejavu with the music companies right before computer company Apple and iTunes just took over music sales and the big companies just kept flexing their power instead of changing their business models. Major Sports networks are doing the exact same thing and new avenues for sports and former athletes to compete with the networks because sports fans want to hear from the actual athletes not from people that think they know what it takes to compete!! 5 years from now I can see Amazon Prime capitalizing on the new trend of former players talking sports.
